    Hi,

I new to XtremeSystems, and a newbie in OC.

    my config : i920(DO) + X58UD5 + 6Gb Gskill Perfect Storm (PC16000) + NH-D14

Currently, I run 4Ghz core(20x200), with 3,2Gh uncore and 7-7-7-20 without LinX errors, with a max temp about 80°C max. (tried 4,2Hz but with errors)

I'd like to run with 4Ghz uncore (I know it's a limit), but I found no solution to let my MB boot... (And I can't find any report of 4000Hz uncore.)

Do someone have succeed such an uclk speed ??? And How ?? (voltages)

    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome to the forums!
And this is a bit too high for air I am afraid. Besides, OCing to 4.2 (21x200) will yield you a bigger performance gain than just OCing the Uncore.

So if it's just a temperature pb, why do my MB is not able to boot ?
I tried really high voltages (1,4 Vcore and 1,515 QPI VTT), but my UD5 won't boot at all...

    (My bios is F10)

Moreover, I beleive an Higher uncore is a Higher memory bandwidth ! As said in this article :

    Do I'm wrong ?

First of all, you might need lower temperatures than you have now to achieve such high uncore clocks. Secondly, 4GHz is near the limit for the ambient temps, so no wonder it doesn't boot up. And the last point, sure, it helps the memory bandwidth a bit, but getting higher CPU clocks would still give you a bigger performance boost.

You are right zalbard, but with my cpu at 4Ghz, I'm really near of it's limits...
( Edit : Now run 4,2 with more relax timings, and less Vcore... Have to stress it a little more)
Maybe I can reduce my Vcore a little more, in order to limit overheating,

But the thing I don't understand at all, is what's is happening when my MB don't want to boot at all ????
It is just "incompatible" settings (bads or insufficient voltages) ? , do it overheat....

Indeed, I've bought theses PC16000 modules in order to run them at 4Ghz uncore, so I really like to find the way to achieve it....

Moreover, I've found a proof of concept of 4040 Mhz Uclk on i920 C0 with Megahalems (AirCooling) - thanks pr@$r1g !!!
=> Look at the third screen-shoot
