I like to have as much performance to hand as possible. I use a variety of audio plugins to do live music over 20 split channels of 24/96 audio (where possible (and with many more 'pseudo channels')). Although most plugins aren't really multi-core friendly, the host will assign plugins to different cores, thus balancing the overall load on each core. More CPU speed means lower audio latency, so for me, having 4 cores at this kind of speed is very useful, particularly if you don't want audio crackles whilst maintaining the best possible quality (and no I'm not talking soundblaster cr*p here).
