excellent! Thanks You mate.... the difference btween E0 Q9650 and E0 X3380 may be like difference between E8400 @ 3.0 and E8500 @ 3.16....or even E8600 @ 3.33 (my last cpu by the way)....it may just yield that extra mhz for 4.7ghz-5.0ghz Usable ..

I'd definitely fork out 500 for a guaranteed 4.5ghz - I mean that's still lower than what the Q9650 used to cost anyway....I remember when it was like 800.00 plus....

    I was right 4.7-5.0 ghz....

I see it was done just recently by Jor3llBR on a UD3P....

    although it took water cooling....

still a Xeon 3380 at 4.6-4.7 daily would be awful nice.....
and I imagine if the UD3P supports it the UD3L will as well

I wouldn't mind having the X3380 and the new EP45 UD5 to play with...

well maybe, but i'll definitely be looking at the X3380...

    thanks

    this sounds tempting...

I was supposed to get the original EP45 Extreme DDR2 version instead of the Rampage Formula X48 I did, but I wanted the cpu-level up which proved to be a waste....
The EP45 Extreme Motherboard can be found in Canada for almost HALF of what it used to be (200.00 vs 400.00).... about 40.00 more than the UD3P sells for now....
I know this advice was aimed towards the guy with theQ6600, but after reading all the reports of how easy Quads reach 500 fsb ALSO on this board and the LED display and reset switches AND 12 phase power...I'm kinda leaning towards it instead of replacing my now buggered X48 DFI p.o.s....

I was thinking of the LanParty T2RS Plus for 500 Quad fsb - but I'm not shelling out another 150.00 for CODE 88....

I'm starting to see code 88 in my dreams now...

    OMG

oh well...below (a sample I found in a review) is why I find this idea so tempting...

ps: thanks for the idea - i had this in the back of my mind from a while ago, but didn't think they were still available new even....

    edit:
don't get me wrong, not at this very moment, but perhaps after a UD3P or another UD3R that actually works....

just got the idea because that other guy had the good fortune to get to use one...

I dunno...I'll find something that works besides this UD3L...

i believe this board is defying the laws of physics lol. 475x7 is orthos stable with only 1.3 vtt 1.24 mch 2.2 vdimm all other voltages normal. 1:1 400 strap 4-4-4-12 pl9. not too many boards can do 475fsb stable with a quad and only 1.24 mch. mch skew is set to 50ps, i think it has made quite a bit of difference. but i fear it has something to do with the low room temp atm because its cloudy and orthos doesnt raise temps like games do.

10k write is awesome but im dissapointed that read has dropped below 9k though. pl8 will fix that but there is a big question mark if it would be stable or not

edit: played some tf2 for an hour no problems

^^^higher than my 3dmark06 score lol.

pl8 is working too, passed 1024k and 8k after 31 minutes of orthos blend before i stopped it.

i believe i have found a new 24/7 setting that can be used for benching too

    here is my 3dmark06 score

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=12985772

your 06 score is almost the same as my 05 score.

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=5118864

just curious, has anyone ever been able to stabilize 475fsb with a quad and only 1.24 mch core? or did i somehow get a cherry picked mch by buying a budget board at a local computer store? as you can imagine it was flaky in the mid 460s with just 1.2 mch but 1.24 and normal mch ref appears stable.

edit: played 2 hours of tf2 no problems

very good...now if you could only UP that multiplier to 8.5 while keeping it stable you got the big 4000...

Good job there man. That is a feat, I'm guessing you either froze it or have water cooling on it or modded the voltage system. I never did get mine that far up, I think I had mine to 900 / 1200, I think..

That looks way better than the previous boards, if I had known they were coming out with this I would have got it instead of the regular T board. And wheres the 24 phase power, they release a newer ddr3 model board yet forget the 24 phase.

    Nice Gigabyte does it again

Hopefully they enhanced DDR3 compatibility and added OC ability to 2000Mhz_ddr

I wish this board came out about a month ago, would have saved some money and got this and not the x58. I am very tempted to order, the price is very good. I was just about to sell my 9650 to.

I am sure zsamz will get one so he can kill the latest from gigabyte. lol

I sure hope it recovers from failed oc as well as the p55's and the x58's.

Looks like another set of records are going to be broken then Jor3lbr!

I had a quick look around but don't see any available yet - has anyone else?

Got my PI's today so I'm gonna be busy finding their limits then hope to push some better times out of my Quad before I settle back to 24/7 usage and actually start using my PC!

what's the onus on 24/7 100% Quad usage????
What other than encoding and the Prime/other ones is gonna give a quad 100% load for 24 hours straight??? I'd be happy with an hour or two...

    only IMO though
