Guys, the board made the difference! I'm priming my 955 C3 at the moment. 4112MHz with 1.5V set in bios and cpu-z showing 1.52V.
Quite happy with it (Gigabyte MA790FX-UD5P) for now. I can't wait to put my best 965 in there
