get that gpu watercooled! lol Nice project. I really like the black and blue theme. Can you get a pic of the blue gts spinning? How many coats of paint did you put on? Did you use primer and clearcoat?
I assume you're talking about illidan's pic. What's the use of the very cool blue cooler if you want to watercool it?
I'm in the minority. I'm liking the red admists the blueness.
It's like some sort of poetic metaphor....or something.
Poetry or not, I dig the clean slickness to your build, Haz!
It's mentioned before, I also like the Demotivator treatment you have in your pics.

Wow, that is pretty cool looking!! Me likey options!
Thanks. I'll post it soon. I would say about 4-6 light coats with no primer or clearcoat. It looked pretty glossy already and the paint was made for plastic so I opted not to clearcoat.
If it's quiet, then I wouldn't mind it as opposed to watercooling. We'll see...
Thanks! You would be the lone standout! Actually, that is what I was trying for... Yah, that was it... Poetic...
I'm trying to be unique!!

Well slap me Black and Blue
This looks Totaly sweet, just as it is and the red card, I don't mined it at all.
Can you let me know about the ROG, I think it's the air cooler/sink.
There looks to be a sleeved wire going to it?
As it's on the Bitspower's NB/SB full block and I don't see any bolts in the four corners.
Is it needed or is it just there to add some more bling to this stuning case, by the way, it does add some more sweet red to the picture.

i believe it like throbs or something and its white... its not a heatsink but it was mounted onto the stock heatsink...

Thanks kg.
It is the stock ROG LED display/heatsink. Not a very good heatsink IMO.
I thought it was a shame to lose it when I replaced the stock heatsink and I was ble to fit it really well there with some double-sided tape. It is purely cosmetic at this point. If I had skills, I would change the white LED to blue.
It adds more white than red... The exposure on the pic gave it a pinkish hue...![]()
alphadog009 is correct in that it flashes intermittently when the computer is off.
Just a minor update this week.
Got my package from Nils. His sleeving always makes me smile...![]()
![]()
Spent about 5 hours sleeving the CPU power cables and extension. Grr... For some reason the pins did not want to come out and I almost gave up. I finally gave it a strong yank and that popped it off.
I didn't quite get the sleeving to line up as well as I would have wanted but I was too tired to redo it.
These came out much better.
My fingers are raw so I think I'm done for today.
One last thing...
I splurged and got a new mouse. The scroll wheel has a very cool blue light. It's a little over the top but so is the build...

I should have done this too. I sleeved the main cable, but should have done the extension. Without it, the regular cable is just barely long enough. It would have helped with my cable management too.
Everything looks great HazChem. I consulted your build more than once while working on mine. So....what's phase 2 going to be?
More BP fittings, a waterblock for the 4890 and organizing the rat's nest that's built up on the backside... :o
I am very impressed with your build. You did way more customization than I was willing to undertake. However, I do have a PA 120.2 rad that I'm going to add at some point and that will require cutting and fitting. You and Noeru have led the way that I plan on following!
Really nice work HazChem.
I was just looking at the same mouse just the other day, I know there not cheap, but do you feel there worth the investment?
Keep up the good work mate.
Thanks kgtiger! It is coming along...
For me it does. I was bent on getting a wireless mouse and one that performs as good as a wired mouse. It is really smooth and tracks extremely well. It doesn't have all the buttons and features that Logitechs do but it makes up for it in looks and feel which is more important to me. Also, by itself it's pricey but if you compare it to other comparable mice, it is only about $30-$40 more which isn't significant.

Great news for the Sponsership!
Looking forward to Phase II!
Nice catch mate.
Grats HazChem!
Muchas gracias and much appreciated guys.
I was quite surprised that I was able to get anyone's support much less Bitspower. I consider my project pretty modest.
What's funny is that I started the project with the intent of reusing some watercooling parts I had from a previous build yet somehow that plan got completely scrapped. I'm having a great time with this build and I hope I can inspire some like I was inspired.
I will say that this project is addicting. I keep wanting to do more and more to it!!
nice project![]()

Nice build HazChem, and congrads on the sponsorship!!!
Earlier in your worklog you said the bitspower NB/SB waterblock was shorting out your mobo. Did you ever find out where exactly it was shorting? I ask because I am in the process of mounting the same block to the same board.
Thanks!
-Zilla
Thanks!
I'm just following in your big footsteps matey!
Thanks Zilla
It was near the ROG QPI RAM board. What the block instructions don't tell you about installing that I think is useful is to start screwing from the middle of the block around the northbridge and work towards the ends so that the block goes on evenly without bending the board. Had I known this, I may have avoided the shorts.
Small update tonight.
My long awaited package arrived finally last week. A little banged up from it's long journey but contents undamaged...
Even their packing tape looks cool.
Hope this is all the parts I'll need...
Finally, I'll be able to get rid of the stock red heatsink!
I like shiny things.
Cracked her open and got a good look inside.
The rig has been torn apart and cleaned up in preparation for all the new stuff. I wish I had taken pictures of the white goop that had accumulated in the reservoir...I must have not flushed it very well the first time. Oh well. Spent most of Saturday, taking everything apart and cleaning it. I also flushed the rad at least 4 times with boiling water, let it sit and finished with distilled water.
That's all for now!
Whoa! Mother lode from BP! Black matte block looks gorgeous, Haz... Noticed, though you didn't take my 2 doubloons in keeping with the red. Heh.
Can't wait to see more with everything situated![]()

Gracias Captain! Yah, I'm guilty of taking your doubloons, crunching them up and discarding them......but I won't completely get rid of the red. I'll have a nice surprise for you when it's built.
BTW, here's some more matte black goodies... Thanks for leading the way!
