Samsung unveils two high-contrast 23-inch LCD monitors

Samsung Electronics has today introduced a couple new 23-inch SyncMaster monitors which can brag about having a static contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a DCR of 150,000:1. Both the SyncMaster 70 Series F2370H and 80 Series F2380MX are Full HD, boast HDMI connectivity, and have a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees.

The F2370H has a Touch of Color design and a glossy black finish, while the F2380MX features a less chic construction that's more practical and offers tilt and 130mm height adjustment.

The F2370H and F2380MX monitors are priced at $352 and $370, respectively.

cPVA to be more exact, they started promoting their new technology with Samsung F2380 and this models have same purpose. If the users appreciate them, other brands will use cPVA panels with their monitors.

year yet you don't know which panel it is you post the news about.

On topic: better than TN, hopefully better lag than the previous one,
which was a disaster in that regard (very high lag), but it's priced
unreasonably high: even though the previous was also priced a bit high
so it did not sell well, this is priced even higher, even though 24"+ *VA/
IPS monitors and LCD TVs have been coming down in price in the
meantime... for just a bit more, there are 24-26" IPS monitors, which
may be a bit worse at black levels and contrast, but are much better at
lag.

Those panels are sweet, put three of the side by side and you have a very good base for 3 monitor eyefi

PVA panels historically have high input lag. So, while they can put out a very nice picture, with deeper blacks than most IPS panels, they are generally not good for gaming. It would be nice if that changed and gamers could suddenly have a lot more choices in 8-bit panels.

There are notable exceptions. Samsung's already released c-PVA monitor (I forget the name right now) has almost 0ms of input lag.

Everything seems to be 16:9 these days. I suggest switching from "meh... 16:9..." to "meh... just 1080 horizontal lines" since 16:10 seems to be nearly gone.

As long as eizo is still making them (and the recently just released a 22" 1920x1200 PVA display) im happy.

On a serious note, buy the white one and turn the screen. Then its 9:16. Buy two. Buy three. But can we stop with the annoying posts about 16:10 already?

Aren't PVA's the worst of the three techs, when it comes to response times? I know my current *VA is a blurry lagging whore for fast paced games. That's why I still use this CRT.

I'm not sure how IPS stacks up response wise. I know TN is supposed to be the best in that regard. But I wonder if a 120Hz TN would still drive me crazy with blur and input lag like my *VA does.

Wasn't SED (a now dead tech ) supposed to give us both awesome color and CRT-level response times?

I still want my 1920x1200 24" monitor....
It's slowly starting to look like I will just have to make do with a 1080p monitor though . I just hope they will do an IPS based 120 Hz panel with pretty much no input lag.

Generally speaking, in terms of output quality:
IPS > MVA/PVA > * > TN

MVA/PVA is fine for gaming if it's a decent overdrive panel.

TNs look like garbage. I don't enjoy sitting in front of a 22" monitor on a white screen and have the center look almost white and all the edges look tan. Talk about a narrow practical viewing angle. Geeze.

I personally think the black one looks cool, but like most 'non-professional' monitors, it gotta have a totally garbage plastic stand which will let the screen tilt left and right if you even slightly shake the desk.
