Hello, I am sorry to cause any confusion.

Just to clear this up once and for all.

For an AM2+ / AM3 socket motherboard configuration, is anything extra required other that what is included in the default package?

You will need to buy the am2/3 hold-down plate, and possibly a backplate unless you got one already.
