i was less than impressed with the acoustic noise profile from this PSU. I also received a replacement from newegg as well as an advance RMA from corsair, and between all three, they all bothered me enough to return it.

i ended up buying a seasonic M12D instead. that being said i was furiously impressed by the performance of this PSU. that and its ergonomics really made for a stellar combination.

as for me, the difference was the noise profile from both the circuit system on the PSU as well as the 140mm fan, both bothered me enough to say "no thanks"

i have three computers in my bedroom during the winter for heating, and with my sleep habits, having silent PC's is absolutely paramount, so thats why im such a stickler.
    for the glory of bardob!

It's ugly but as usual I try to deliver........This PSU can certainly stand some abuse.........

    2x 5970, 1x4870 x2 and 1 x 4890 was the final config I got to work......

The x2 and 4890 are there for idle power usage. Both boot with max volts possible via bios softmod.

The poor drivers were so confused they would not even install the second core of the 4870x2 ( see other devices )

"Seasonic X900" PSU? I've never heard about such model.

Anyway the HX620 is a Seasonic PSU in Corsair packing.

BTW I can't see the PSU in the video.

I have a TX750, was considering moving to an HX model for modular cabling but then boxing day sales came bringing me a Seasonic M12 850W for 120$.
The HXes are just a tad expensive, and no discounts on em either. =\

Necetra just took the words out of my mouth. I was just going to check the dragonage origins thread and my eyes caught this thread accidentally. call it dumb luck. a lot of us jumped on tx750 when corsair was doing the MIR's I for 120 bux I couldnt pass it up at the time. HX are expensive but when I think of how long a good PSU lasts between all the mobo swaps and cpu swaps and other computer crap we blow our hard earned dollars on the cost of a good psu isnt really an issue. I have a TX750 as well and although its been good to me for 2 years. It might be time to upgrade. what is the closest comparable PSU on this graph you would place a tx750?

I'm currently running the following rig on a TX750w:

    biostar tpower ta790GX A3+
    quad AMD c3 965 to 4.1
    8x 120mm fans
    4 x 2gb dd3 overclocked
    1 single ATI 5850 overclocked

    MCP655 pump (see voltage below)
    Nominal Voltage: 12 VDC
    Operating Voltage range: 6 - 14 VDC
    Nominal Power (@12 V): 24 W
    Nominal Current (@12 V): 2 Amp

    DRIVES:
    2x 60gb ssd
    2x 1tb F3 HDD
    1x plextor dvdR
LSI megaraid 92604i sas pcie 8x raid card

    other:
razer barracuda ac1 pci sound card
    razer lycosa keyboard
    razer deathadder
    usb wifi N

Am I pushing it with this sucker? is it worth upgrading or am I good for a while?

I have the hx750 powering a q6600@3.6 GHz and two 9800GX2. Running einstein@home 24/7 CUDA style. The GPUs aren´t fully utilized. The PSU draws 450W out of the wall and is silent. Best PSU for me so far.
    work:
    abit IP35-Pro
    Q6600 @ 3.6GHz 9x400 1.55V)
    Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
    G.Skill 2x2GB @ DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
    2x9800GX2
    Corsair HX750

    play:
    abit IP35-Pro
    E8400 @ 3.6 GHz
    Corsair H50
    G.Skill 2x1GB @ DDR 800 4-4-3-5
    Gigabyte 460GTX
    Seasonic S12II 380

The PSU is great for sure but it would have been interesting to see some Kill-A-Watt results. BTW, a much smarter aproach than 3DMark06 on 4 GPU (when you have 7 GPU installed) is to to some GPU calculation on all the GPU (folding for example)

It's not hard to calculate the load.....there are idle / load results all over the web for all cards mounted on board, add 200 Watt for platform at the speed it ran..... Crunching on this setup would have way exceeded specs......not that i already didn't but I was short burst testing. There are better ways to purposely kill a PSU ( which was not my intentions ) without killing $1800 worth of GPU's that could not breathe and were running hot from being stacked on each others intake fans

    Palit HD 4870x2 IDLE 267W LOAD 447W

    Radeon 5970 IDLE 185w Load 393w

    Radeon HD 4890 idle 178w Load 285w

    Google is your friend.

If the second test wasn't 100% load i'll eat my shorts and you are in denial especially since the 2 cards at IDLE are Idling at there load max volts via custom bios's.

gpu folding is not yet supported for the ati 5xxx series...so it won't load it properly...

You mean the system consumption, right? You could feed 2v into that HD4870X2 and it wouldn't eat 447W

BTW testing is my friend, not Google
