for the harddrive cage you should make the mounting holes a square so someone can either mount it forward facing or sideways.... simple

If you were to read the thread in its entirety, you would know it is already like that.....

However, I am preparing the detailed 2D drawings required for fabrication. So maybe, one day if the funds become available, I will pursue this dream!
I would love to be able to build this, too. Any chance you'd share the detailed 2D drawings with me and let me give it a shot?

It honestly feels like this case lacks hard drive racks
With such a tremendous size I'm amazed it only holds 6 (?) drives.

    Also, wheels.
Otherwise nobody but Arnold Schwarzenegger will be able to move it

6? It can hold up to ten 3.5" drives or up to forty 2.5" drives, if thats what you want?

I figured that slide-in cage held more.
But either way, and I know this sounds ridiculous, thats still a pretty low number.
The Lian-Li V2000 is probably a great deal smaller and holds 12 drives. I'm just saying, considering the leviathan nature of this case it seems rather quirky for it to only support 10 3.5" drives.

It all depends what you want from a case. I designed this case primarily for liquid cooling. If you want a case that holds many HDD's or multiple optical drives, then this wouldn't be the case for you. However, I could design HDD racks that hold more drives, more tightly packed. Like you say, with the amount of room available, it would probably be possible to hold about twenty.....

Well sure, and it does its job at what you intended it to very well.
I'm just pointing something out. Its not a concern for 99% of people, but I know a couple people that, if this case were on the market, wouldnt buy it because they collect blurays and have like eight kabillion hard drives.

Looking at it, why exactly is there a lower 5.25" rack and then an upper?
Why not replace the lower 5.25" with more HDD racks and leave the upper?
Most people dont use 5.25" reservoirs, and I cant think of any use for more than two 5.25" bays

I haven't been around for a while, but it is nice to see that you are
    still working on it Mick.

It looks terrific. Be great if this got manufactured in the near future.

how much would estimated cost currently be? i might be interested i starting to build something like this...what if we could simplify the design a little by building it around a frame made from square aluminum tubing and having that rather than bending that aluminum into the frame???

Would this case hold the new EVGA dual socket LGA-1366 motherboard? XL-EATX form factor. If so, I would definitely buy it.

I think some time ago mike postulated about adding in removable drive bays as accessories to the case, so then it could be promoted to a wider amount of end users, not sure what is going on there.

Mike, Don't look so much as computer companies like MM and such to build the case, get it fabricated at a place like http://www.laser3d.com.au/metalfabrication.html (this is an aussie one but im sure there are a few around Essex also) flatten all the parts you need into 2D files, mark where you want the bends and the radius of them, and they can fabricate it for you. Would not cost more than say 250 for that case if you supply the drawings in DFX format. I've had side panels done with 4-5 layers that have only cost me around 80 bucks, same with a top bezel for my cosmos 1000 that was 60 bucks that included folding/cutting.

I think it looks sweetass. I saw your avatar and I, too, thought that was a kickass case.

Have you seen the new DP Classified board? Slap it into your case and put 4 295s in there

New? 295s? The board has been out for almost half a year, and its 285's which you have to use, and you must use their classified versions if you plan to go 4-way, which they slapped another 50 bucks or so on each. Had a big discussion about this on another thread how its a waste of money etc due to bandwidth and CPU bottleneck capabilities anyway. I would go an ASUS P6T-series and slap a XFX 5970 or 2 x EVGA 285 FTW 2gb editions in there and save around a grand for a visually un-noticable performance loss on nearly every game, 'cept crysis of course. Still a harsh mistress.
