I've not tried for 4Ghz, I worked my way up from 3Ghz until the temps on the stock cooler reached the 55c mark during Linx.

I'm currently waiting to get my water cooling loop back up and running, She did 4.4Ghz with her previous owner on water

    I'm using BIOS version 1.4

Just because it did 4.4 for them on water dosnt mean that it will do 4.4 with the setup that u have, but it is a good reference, NB clocks and your mem will play a LARGE role in how far u can go (at least from my understanding)

Some reason cpuz wont read my cpu correctly, it reads the memory, but not cpu.
if your on c3 i wouldnt be suprised if your nb was keeping you unstable. have you tried getting stable with lower nb? my c3 runs 2.6ghz with 1.25 cpu-nb volts but will not get stable with 2.8ghz nb even with 1.35+ cpu-nb volts.

maybe take a step back and put everything to stock, lower ram, and then just clock cpu alone and see how far it goes. then go for cpu & nb clock together and see how far you can go... etc.

LOL, u never said that he shipped u his mobo, ram and cpu, as even if u bought the same ram and mobo he had....that dosnt cut it imo, your ram could b weak or something on the mobo might not clock as well (even if everything is the same ordered from the same place, u will get completely different overclocks when u put them together even with the same parts), so ur saying u bought the CPU, the Ram and the Mobo from him? if that is the case then u should b able to reach that 4.4 that he had, assuming your watercooling is as good, BUT my logic is perfectly in place, everyone knows that 2 ppl (or even the same person) using 2 identical setups wont reach the same clocks everything has differences no matter how small that effect the overclock

the UD5 is a brand new board so we cant answer that one yet, as atm there are not even any reviews of it out, but i do know of at least one person that went from a UD5P to this MSI board and he like it better

    I'm on BIOS version 1.4

I've not had any problems with it but is it worth upgrading? Are the newer BIOS's more stable and give better overclock results?

There is no one good bios, there are so many bios for this board it aint funny, you have to try different ones and find one you like. Im using 1.82b seems ok, go to www.oczforums.com and there is a load of bios there for this board.

The IMC in Phenom II's was never designed to do more than DDR3 1333, so you're hitting a wall on the IMC, not of your board. If someone got it higher than you, it's probably because their IMC is stronger, or at least more stable than yours.

You could be right it could be my chip i can hit 1690, but 1 mgz over and it dont matter how much voltage i add it wont go, but i see so many people doing 1800, i know its not easy to do 1800, but im not sure what it is, going to try another board and that will tell the story. I did raise my cas to 7 and 8 just to try and see if 6 was a no go, but it didnt matter.

Just did a quick test to check what my setup can handle, I can hit 1752 cl7 or 1760 cl8, but cl6 is too tight for my sticks, they crap out at ~1530

Well im having better luck now, i knew my chip was not holding me back, i switched the ram in the slots closest to the cpu and bingo. Im seeing now how far they will go stable. 1733 now cas 6 is not bad, but they should do 1800 cas 6 for benching but not stable, we will see.

Update, i cant get 1700 cas 6 to pass memtest, have tried for hours, keep getting errors.

Mike I have ran this mobo since it came out and I have 4 of them and I love them but the guy is right about the set-up, You can build 2 rigs side by side with the same parts and they both will not run the same lol lol I have tried it... But my friend Tony from OCZ has got the set-up down!! I will tell you that it will run fasterat 1333mhz with tight timing then 1800 with loose timing. The mobo max out about 1800mhz. The CPU don't play nice with high voltage memory and also needs some CPU-NB voltage and speed. I found the (sweet spot) at 2800mhz CPU-NB@1.300v and the HT link at 2600mhz@1.250v NB-CORE 1.25v CPU 955 @3.8ghz 1.3625v and the 965C3 @ 4.0ghz at 1.41v. I run this set-up 24/7 and runs nice and cool 32c idle and 43c max load..
