A 4870x2 struggled enough in most of the games that I mentioned earlier at only 1920x1080 with a few mods. I'll take higher resolution textures, no gaps in between my screen, a higher framerate, etc on a nice single panel over an eyefinity setup for every day use any day.
Who cares how many users. That's not the point. Did you expect people to run out and pick up 2 more monitors the next day? The overall marketshare of high end products is insignificant to begin with, so quoting percentages of that miniscule share is irrelevant anyway. Those that have have it or have used it, swear by it. The fact of the matter is, it is an awesome technology that actually adds something to the experience. I couldn't care less if I can get 20% more performance out of object A over object B if it means nothing to my experience, and there is no noticable difference between it and object C i'm replacing. I'm upgrading from an x800 because there was nothing in the middle that meant anything to me. I'm not into a schlong swinging contests, so more frame rates mean nothing to me, and image quality is more than sufficient as far as i'm concerned. I have no problem dialing down those settings and even resolution for that matter, because it's the gameplay that is all important to me and i don't find that other siht distracting whatsoever. That's where i'm coming from.

And if you want to spend $1500 for 3 monitors, that's your choice. You can get into Eyefinity with 3 monitors for substantially less than that. Besides, the investment in the majority of cases is likely 2, not 3 monitors since it is quite difficult to use a PC without at least 1 monitor to begin with.
