For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

Just read a bit on another forum where a person already has the game that he finished the SP in 5 and a half hours without rushing.

One of the people who has a leaked version put videos of all lvls on youtube.

    JUST AN IDEA!!!

My team and I play CoD4 A LOT. We aren't "pros" by any stretch, but we can hold our own. Nevertheless, we were VERY disappointed and shocked to hear the news. So what's next?

I know Crysis is STILL a very demanding game for most folks, but I recently checked out Crysis Wars EX, which is a competitive mod for Crysis Wars. I have not spent much time with it, but I had fun during the time I spent. Here is the site of the modding group that made it:

    http://www.crysis-wars-ex.com/

Not too many US-based servers running it, but that can change in a hurry if it takes off here.

There's a special menu like the one on promod to crank the visuals down, and it works well. I have a 4870X2 and had no problems, but my buddy has a single GTX 260 and he was moving along at a VERY playable frame rate.

As a competitive community we are dying for something fresh, so maybe this is an answer? 2 years ago running this game at a playable rate was really tough, but I think that's changing now. (finally) I had an 8800 Ultra 2 years ago and it absolutely chocked on this game. Between the ex mod and cheap 4870's\GTX 260 270 etc maybe this has a shot?

If anyone is interested in an "evaluation scrim night" PM me, and I'll get a server up with it.

Anyone who serious about squad/team gameplay are playing the Battlefield series anyways. COD will always remain arcade'ish and free for all.

So, nothing is lost by this franchise (infinityWard) releasing a floped title.

Lesson learned.. people like communities and control of thier maps, etc..

Today some people of IW had a chat session to take our worries away

    Short summary of the chat.

    Question:
"What sort of ping have you guys been getting on IWNet?"
    Answer:
"We've been getting around 100ms and its been great"

    Question:
"Is it fair to say the PC version is a console port"
    Answer:
"No, the PC version has many added features, such as MOUSE SUPPORT, IN-GAME CHAT & GRAPHICS OPTIONS.

So mouse support and grafix options are added options. Pfew thank god we wont have to pay extra for those added features.
And damn a whooping 100ms ping, and this 100ms ofc also depends on how they tested it.

thats great, so what that is saying is that we get ported controls (as m/k is the primary controller for the pc) and we get options so people whith bad computers can play. and since he said graphics options and not graphics then would it be fair to assume that the pc is upscalled from a 600p texture mesh like the 360 and ps3 are to keep it fair since thats all that the 360 can do. and since its supposed to use deferred rendering dose that mean no AA for the pc since the 360 cant do it

    summarized questions...complete brutality.

    FULL Transcript I believe

I was coping and pasting as fast as I could.

So some may have been missed but here Here are the PC question asked:

Our own CC got in at the very last, my question wasn't allowed and replied with a dummy response

    xxTex
Can explain how IW.net works for the PC platform?
    Mackey-IW
PC has no common provider of matchmaking like on xbox360, so to have match making on the PC we had to create IW.Net, kind of similar to the match making networks created for RTS games on PC. This was not a trivial undertaking, although it's understandable that these days consumers may take match match making for granted.

    Mackey-IW
MW2 supports games from 1v1 in Cagematch all the way up to 9v9 in the Ground War playlist.

    Josh111
PC Question... What will the max amount of players per map be for PC multiplayer on IW.net
    Vince-IW
    9v9

    eneralClean
With the new IW.net, how many players can it support at one time with each server set-up, 8 vs 8, 12 vs 12, 16 vs 16, and how much bandwidth are we talking about per player basis, Upload and Download?
    Mackey-IW
The max number of players on all platforms are 1v1 through 9v9. This is the number of players we focused on when we were balancing map size, perks, classes, challenges, etc.

    pittboss
will the private multiplayer matches for the pc be run as a p2p connections or are they run via the IWnet?
    Mackey-IW
IWNet matches players together based on several factors including ping and skill. After players are matched, the most suitable host is determined. That player hosts until they quit, at which time hosting responsibilities will normally migrate to another player without interrupting the match.

    xxTex
What are the types of features that IW.net offers for PC players?
    Mackey-IW
The ability to quickly and easily find a good multiplayer game. We're also able to host your rank and create-a-class online so any PC you log in with will be ready for you.

    Laugh
Is there a console in the PC version of the game, so we can change our field of view from the xbox's default 65 FOV to 80 also can we tweaks the weapon damage for each gun, removes perks, graphical debris, breathing sway, also thru console like we where able to before or is this all gone?
    Vince-IW
We would like you to play the game the way we designed and balanced it.

    TheNinthAxis
If you charge for PC dlc will it be released at the same time as the consoles.
    Vince-IW
We honestly haven't put much thought into DLC for any platform yet, we have been working on getting the game done

    Vince-IW
We did test it in the Sahara, but we were only downloading a 1GB file...

    maniac1969
How are PC gaming clans going to uphold their clan rules in the IW-net system? Are you going to give admin rights to gaming rooms so that admins can Kick or Ban players who refuse to follow clan rules? For example, {MRoA} servers prohibit racial comments from guest and/or clan members...
    Mackey-IW
In response to the PC clan question: Private matches are a way for players to easily play with their friends and apply whatever House Rules they want. You can not kick players from Ranked matches. If language is a problem you can easily mute players.

    Saucy
Will the DLC for PC version cost anything?
    Vince-IW
    No idea yet.

    My Question wasnt answered
In your opinions How will the direction to go away from dedi servers affect the PC community, Clans, Competitive play,Sales?
An official responsehas been released regardind your question please visit four zerotwo.com

    kaRMa
Regarding the PC version, will all games be hosted by players or just private matches? And will the host have a zero ping advantage?
    Mackey-IW
We put a lot of work into making the game tolerant of latency. In my personal experience it is not obvious which player is host. The game plays well on broadband.

    Josh111
For the PC.. You guys have said people will be matched by skill.. How is this skill determined? Is it by kill to death ratio or something else
    Mackey-IW
Well none of the programmers are in the chat today.. so let's just say it's crazy programmer magic. It's a lot more than just K/D though. The important thing is not that all players in a game are the exact same skill, but that the teams are balanced.

    TheNinthAxis
Is there lean in PC multiplayer.
    Vince-IW
    No.

    Axen
Please explain how a 9v9 match is a multiplayer experience? I'd have more fun serving lunch at a local nursing home.
    Vince-IW
Sounds like are a very compassionate and giving person. I hope the people at the nursing home appreciate you.

    Trac_Vantro
Is Iw.net going to help keep clans together the way we are use to playing together as clans now.
    Mackey-IW
You can use friendslists in steam to play together.

    TRU-Jennifer
Are you considering dedicated servers for the PC gamer in the near future?
    Mackey-IW
Our main focus right now is on making sure the game will work well when it is released (on all platforms).

    Porschy
Will you guys ever rethink about making a possible dedicated server patch after the initial launch? BTW I LOVE U GUYS <3

    Vince-IW
We feel the PC game is great in it's current form. We put a lot of work into IWnet in an effort to make the PC experience better for our users. If there is a need for somthing more in the future we will address as needed.

    rnrmusic55
you said IWnet was created to help stop piracy, what do you say about the Xbox 360 version leaked and shared on torrent sites?
    Vince-IW
IWnet was designed to make the MP experience on PC easier and more balanced.

    ACStringarray
Will IW ever consider developing games on the PC to support dedicated servers, be it MW2 patches or future endeavors? Just curious if dedicated servers are on the radar anymore.
    Mackey-IW
Our goal is to provide the best experience for our users, so nothing is ever "off the table". We are always evaluating our options.

    IW_has_failedus
Why did you make the game soo much easier for noobs by putting in death streaks and pro marty/jugger. Now people can't be good at the game because they will always be killed by the noobs with triple jugger or w.e. You guys have to go back to your roots. I realize that all you guys are after is money, but come on. What about the true fans.
    Vince-IW
Just do me a favor and play the game first, we put a LOT of work into balance. We are big gamers here at IW and want a great experience just as much as you.

    Freeman06
Hello, are you considering ever patching in mod tools for the pc to make custom maps and such?
    Mackey-IW
Right now we're focused on launching our game.

    JunkyNL
I like many others, have friends from all over the world and like to play games against each other. So with this new system we wont be able to play lag free against each other? And is there still a (Offline) LAN function?(there is no internet at that location)

(the 402 site doesn't answers this question)
    ACVince-IW
You can party up with your friends and you will be placed in a game that works well for everyone.

    gdogg
On the PC version is there going to be Hardcore Free for all?
    Mackey-IW
Currently there are hardcore TDM and SD playlists, however as you witnessed with CoD4:MW, the playlists may change from time to time.

    GunnZero
i play on all gaming machines, if it allows me to game, im on it. But will PC have Mod tools?
    Vince-IW
We haven't made any decisions regarding this yet.

    Futurefighter
How do you plan to appeal to professional pc gaming leagues like CAL and CEVO with IW.net?
    Vince-IW
I guess we'll have to talk to them and see what they would need. We would love to work something out.

    thajuggaloz
Is there a possiblity IW will release Dedicated Servers in a future patch? I am in a large international COD clan and IWnet/9vs9 will be impossible for us as a group to play together.
    Vince-IW
We can't predict the future... yet.

    h4msandwich
Has IWnet been tested in European settings? My clan plays european leagues and we got ppl from Eastern europe, UK and Sweden meeting in the same match. How is this going to play out considering siginificant differences in Bandwith and connection qualities between players. Will host player always have the ping advantage. Can a match be hosted by 'third' person, not taking part in the match?
    Mackey-IW
Players do not control who hosts.

    Codmw2fann
how will the ranks work (example: 1-55 then prestige till 10th)?
    Mackey-IW
Now it is 1-70 with much prestiging, with prestigious prestige rewards.

    DudezTY
Since we can not kick people in ranked matches, how will we stop hackers who get past VAC?
    Mackey-IW
Our goal is to ban hackers from the game.

    GeneralClean
So how can you justify 9 vs 9 at the most on PC when we had 32 vs 32 in COD4?
    Mackey-IW
The CoD4 maps were not balanced for 32vs32. In MW2 the entire experience is carefully balanced for a smaller range of players.

    frzg
Was the decision to create IWNet for PC a profit based decision or a 'genuine improvement of the game'?
    Vince-IW
To improve the game, it actually cost us money to develop it so the there isn't a profit motive.

    krm2014
Will the IWNET multiplayer system compensate for the undoubtly low ping that the host computer will have for the other players, or will the host have an advantage over the other players? Also, going back to clans...Is there a way to have more than 18 people in a server, because my clan has at least 100 members and we like to get 20-30 on our servers at the same time.
    Mackey-IW
Games cap out at 9v9. The software has great latency tolerance. See above!

    Stormbringer
I can see how IW.net would be good for the individual; however, would you not agree that for clans with wide geographic dispersion this could cause severe problems in terms of ping?
    Vince-IW
We have not found this to be a problem.

    Reeses
Are you at all surprised in the number of people that pirated MW2 on the Xbox360? Will they all be banned?
    Mackey-IW
The pirates will walk the plank.

    zach426
What was your guy's logic behind removing the lean feature for PC, a feature that was a mainstay from all of your previous call of duty titles?
    Mackey-IW
The game is not balanced for lean.

    maniac1969
Vince, there are 178,000 voices that say you need dedicated servers for the PC.
COD4 is the bigest online game in history!
Why in the world would you take away dedicated servers and change the whole MP experience for us?
And Mackey, the PC version with dedicated servers is already the best experience the way it is!
    Vince-IW
All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Also, not all of the names on that list are legit.
    Mackey-IW
    402 signed it 4 times I heard.

    kaRMa
Please give me a direct answer. On the PC version.

Are all games hosted by players, and is there a 5 second delay when host migration is in effect?
    Vince-IW
    yes.

    TRU-Jennifer

What are the current steps being taken in regard to active blocking measures that some major ISPs have ta Mackey-IW
Only players capable of hosting will be host.ken regarding Peer 2 Peer connections, such as what Comcast does?

    The3rdNipple
Midnight on Nov 10th, are you guys prepared for the mass number of people that will be logging on? Do you think this launch could go without delays? Btw, last post I never got to say great job guys.
    Vince-IW
I am scared for the onslaught... We have done everything we can to prepare and we have people ready to respond, but you can't test for everything to this scale.

    JunkyNL
You say the Multiplayer is going to be incredible and I want to try this new IW.net system to see, but if it doesnt
exceeds my expectation I lost 60 dollars cause it cannot trade PC games. Unless IW is going to offer a money back guarantied
    Ryan-IW
We understand your concern for the PC version as it is a very important topic. We keep our loyalties to making good games. Fun games that people can play worldwide and on multiple platforms. We feel that most or all of your questions will be answered on November 10. We had a blast developing this game for the last two years.
    Mackey-IW
When one of your friends buys it, you can ask him if it's good, and then make an educated decision.

    GeneralClean
Have you tested IW.net with connecting with overseas players?
And if so what were the results?
    Vince-IW
    Yes, seemed good.

    Moriarte
Will there be a multiplayer PC demo shortly after release? The PC community is largely skeptical at best right now and with no ability to trade-in or rent, this is a real gamble for our wallets.
    Vince-IW
No plans for a demo currently. We are still working on finishing the PC game right now (yes, I know... we need to get done!)

    Apex
Will there be a way to provide genuine feedback regarding IW.Net after the game is released? Seeing as the PC subforum at your site isn't very effective.
    Mackey-IW
We wil be watching and listening of course.

    ViperVenom
What was the inspiration behind the AC-130, Throwing knives, 3rd person and such? Did looking at some of the Cod4 Mods influence any of these?
    Ryan-IW
The inspiration behind so many inclusions to MW2's MP was basically the fun factor. We'll look at something we did in the past and say "Wouldn't it be fun if we *insert blank here*". With MW2 we had the chance to do a lot of just that. We implemented things that at first were very experimental and unbalanced, but through time and hours and weeks of testing and balancing, we came out with something amazing.

    gdogg
Are you aware of the petition to for dedicated servers and mods, have you taken this into acount?
    Vince-IW
    yes.

    frzg
    Is there a /record feature?

    Answer yes... please.

We're trying to give you a 'chance'
    Vince-IW
    No

    will0812
Do you honestly think you have improved the PC version with IW.Net, you cannot claim the gameplay is smoother, as dedicated servers are much more efficient.?
    Mackey-IW
Yes, we believe MW2 is better than CoD4:MW. The reason iw.net exists is to improve the gameplay for our users.

    TrastX
You guys have made it easier for PC players to hope in a random game, but you made it harder for Clans to stay together and play in a community fashion like were used to. How will we be able to play with the same people on a regular basis without having 100s of people on our friends list, is there ever a way to join the same match rooms?
    Vince-IW
Yes, you can party up with people and play with them.

    IW_has_failedus
Will PC Players be able to play online WITH xbox 360 players? Like in the game shadowrun? Because that would be totally badass. =D Maybe something we could see in the future of the franchise? Also has Future warfare ever come to mind?
    Vince-IW
no, not something we think is a good idea currently

    CrusaderCon
Since you guys have not made any decisions on MW2 mod tools. I suggest taking a long thought about the past games and how many great ideas and things that came from mod tools. 1. Fantastic Maps! 2. Amazing Gametypes like ZombieX, The Vietnam Mod, The Rising Mod, The Open Warfare Mod, and The Extreme Mod! 3. Great Player Skins! 4. New Modified Weapons! You may think this would be a hassle to have mods and etc. But, all you need to do is open a mod and mapping section of the IW website and have pe...

Apologies I am late and if this has been asked before, but I am the co-leader of an Australian PC clan (Roll the Dice) and down under our Internet is rather poor with very limited upload capabilities. Our clan also has 25+ members all over the country and we regularly have trainings and scrims as a group. My question is, has IWnet catered for this kind of scenario and will be able to train together still given the P2P and rather poor ADSL connections in Australia? We are also charged or our uplo...

Ignoring IW.net, is the PC version a direct port of the console version?

No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings.

and yeah wtf "PC has custom stuff like mouse control , graphic settings "
translation "we made it for xbox 360 and port it to PC"

they pretty much said "u pc gamers take what we feed u, u dont get to choose."

After reading over the whole 3 parts of the transcript from the Q&A session, I would hate to be in their position right now. While the guys from IW did side-step and dodge most of the interesting questions and only answered the "I LOVE YOU IW PLZ LOVE ME BACK OKAY?" types, I get the impression they themselves aren't happy with the direction the game has taken but with jobs being scarce in most countries right now they didn't even dare to step a little out of line like most developers would do.

The guys who put their blood, sweat and tears into creating a game and are happy with the end result are usually like 5 year olds who just got a new toy and take it to school to show all their friends, they don't care if you don't care they just want to tell somebody because they are proud of the results. These guys don't come across as proud or truly ecstatic about the finished title, hell other than the artist being a little hyped up (and artists usually get a lot more freedom to add their own unique touches so that's understandable) but the guy who said he's been there since day 1, reads like an Al Gore speech.

Sucks to be them but doing nothing about a crappy situation and screwing over the people who put them where they are now, makes them crappy people who do crappy things to make their crappy lives less crappy. I'm no Call of Duty fan it never tickled my fancy but after this whole debacle with their shennanigans and wool-over-eyes pulling I will never in the future buy a game from their company simply because they don't deserve to be successful. I can live without Call of Duty games, even if they are good for the sake of principle.

this is just like borderlands, developers dont want to spend time and money to make a good PC version because they know its gonna get pirated like hell, so they put all their resource on making a good console game. borderlands dont even have cd check, pirates can play online .....

XBOX 360 games are pirated as heavily as PC games, hell they even get leaked 1-2 weeks in advance of retail date. Piracy is a joke of an excuse for not putting effort into PC games, and it's the kind of excuse made only by Businessmen with Business Degrees who have no experience in creating games or even know what it means just to hear someone say how awesome their game is.

These overpaid fools who work for the Publishing Houses who sit around in meetings with nothing more than financial assessments and worthless studies to decide what they believe we as gamers should want in a game, and "instruct" the developers to churn out titles that will meet their return on investment expectations. When their expectations aren't met their overpriced education and lack of real world game development experience results in these "PIRACY IS KILLING PC GAMES" headlines.

Piracy has always been around in every industry, and it always will be but in the past you never heard Developers screaming bloody murder over piracy, they didn't even dare to use the word unless they could substantiate it's use. Game developers have always predicted a certain piracy rate and in the past they factored this into the sales expectations of a title. They've always accepted it because it's just how the world is and there is nothing they can do about it, period. The only weapon they have against piracy is offering a quality game with quality support and after sales value beyond the purchase.

Game developers who understood this in the past were successful and turned out good titles while turning over a decent profit to produce more titles and never alienating their loyal fans/customers by means of punishing many for the mistakes of a few.

The moment they started treating the customers who never questioned paying the desired price for their games and always considered it money well spent the same as those who never considered it money well spent so never spent any, was the moment they started on the path to their own slow painful demise.

You don't see Liquor shops whose bread and butter comes from people who drink alcohol calling them the scourge of society, or worthless alcoholics with problems, or even labelling them as responsible for all the deaths on the roads from drink driving. They wouldn't dare say anything like that because no money means no paying bills which ultimately means no more business. Things are what they are, and loyal customers pay regular bills, no loyal customers is bad for the bank account so it's in their best interest to make sure they stay loyal. Insulting them is a sure way to losing the loyalty that took so long to earn and ultimately losing the guaranteed amount of sales that loyalty brings.

ok guys i just dropped myself from the MW2 boycott,

the PC version has mouse control, in-game chat, and graphical settings.

seems like they really went above and beyond to make the PC version truly unique.

Was the decision to create IWNet for PC a profit based decision or a 'genuine improvement of the game'?
    Vince-IW
To improve the game, it actually cost us money to develop it so the there isn't a profit motive
what a bull statement. Yeah IWnet cost you money to create. But the pc version of the game didn't cost them a freaking dime, no dedi servers, no lean, no console, no FOV change. This freaking game is a direct freaking port and anyone at infinity says different are a bunch of liars.

That answer was a straight out lie. partnering with steam, spend almost little to no money bringing the console version to a "playable" pc level. There was profit, dont lie to us....geez, like we are a bunch of idiots or something and cant see around these shady answers.

NO LEAN WTH!!! you cant even do that little bit of an extra for pc?!?!?!

NO LEAN WTH!!! you cant even do that little bit of an extra for pc?!?!?! my god, what sell outs. There is no logical explanation for this. They got their funds cut by some big guns or something.
first they say, no dedi, then no lean, then no console, then a forced FOV of 60. your game.
F.E.A.R 2 had no prone and even though I finished playing it once it was out of having wasted my time playing it half the way through. Being limited to the scope of buttons mappable on console controllers for actions that can be used in a game is an insult to all PC gamers. Might as well just package the game with a controller and not implement period at all.

to be fair, i dont think FOV changes should be allowed... not because i disagree with customization, but it is borderline cheating. having a ridiculous FOV option in some games gives an awful looking view but at a great advantage to the player.

So no, we don't have a /record function, no map making, no private servers, limited to only 9 -vs- 9 max, thats need to be carefully balanced() and most importantly matched game play....

It just seems like they are making excuses. Anyone else feel that that Battlefield Heroes (free to play; here) offers better game play than MW2..?

IWard went all EYE CANDY and thought that would fool people. MW2 is just a death-match game, thus Arcade.

    no thanks!
