Hey guys, im having a hard time on my Gigabyte UD5 board. It just cant do 240BCLK, everytime I but 240BCLK on the Turbo Mode turns itself off, why is that? Do I need subzero cooling? Im on water right now..
This is driving me nuts, my 920 should do 5GHz with ease but this board is holding me back

and SuperPi 1M, upping by 1MHz more BCLK the Turbo turns off, up to 240MHz is stable though.

    Weird issue.
You do realise that using high PCI Express frequency and such extreme vCore are dangerous long term, though?
And I believe your CPU just cannot handle it tbh... Need cold I guess.

I'v had several GB Extreme/UD5 mb's, all of them go to around 210-215 on stock bios values with my cpu's.

The first thing I need to adjust to get further is IOH, I usually set it to 1.16-1.18 from stock 1.1v.

PCI bus should also be set at 102 or 103.

To get past ~218 or so I usually need to play with IOH Clock skew, reduce cpu pll, and sometimes give IOC core a little ekstra.

Setting for above run was (by memory):
    CPU clock skew 500
    IOH clock skew 750

    PCI 103

    QPI/Vtt 1.28v
    CPU pll 1.4v
    IOH 1.18v
    IOC 1.18v

The mb is not modded yet.

+1 for bios settings. My UD5 would break 222blck. My CPU will also do 5GHz+ but board is holding me back. I just killed the board and buying a new one. If I can buy another UD5 instead of spending $500CAD on a classified I'll be happy.

Here's my bios setup for 4.4 ghz on the ud5, don't use this for 24/7 because the boreas has a bit of trouble keeping up with the temps at this point...

PlatoonSgtElias, you're a freakin animal & it's awesome. I've booted into windows @ 235 x 21 for 4935 but didn't dare try running any kind of stability test (or any load whatsoever).
You're just on water? How many rads do you use & do you keep them in a fridge or something?

FTW - Animal? lol, im human :P
Umm I cant boot into win above 230BCLK, somehow it dosent recognize my HardDrive then, weird.
I use the watercooling that you can see in my sig. I benchmark on the balcony, well my PC is there, I close the door and bench in a warm room :P
Anyway, I finetuned setfsb and got to the point that 235,6MHz is ok but 235,7MHz it will drop the TURBO. Tryed to use EasyTune6 also but no help. So im at a loss, anyone know why is this happening?
Btw, what volt is normal for 4GHz on a good D0 24\7? Mine needs 1.3000v in bios and is rocksteady then without turbo, if I turn turbo on 4200MHz its not stable anymore, that kinda sux, this cpu should do 4GHz with 1.1v but I think this motherboard is just not up to it (N)

    Am i seeing this right?

A singel tripple (slim) for a Ci7 and SLI?...
Don't want to see the water temps.

Guess your running into thermal throttling.

Human, but still an overclockin animal. I would love to get cold enough to throw that kinda vcore at my chip & see what it could do (planning to order my first DICE/ln2 pot this week).
I use 4.2 Ghz for 24/7 OC, setting vcore @ 1.275 in the bios with llc enabled (qpi 1.26V). In windows I get 1.248 idle & 1.216 loaded. Haven't run 4.0 for a while I believe I was at 1.237 vcore in the bios. All chips are kinda different though, yours may need more but it still takes it & puts out, some just have a wall no matter how much vcore you throw at it. I'm hoping mine just takes the voltage & keeps going faster like yours does.

Does virtualization cause any stability issues? I do quite a bit of virtualizing so its very benificial for me to have it enabled.

I think it should be the other way round. Will overclocking causes virtualization not to be stable?

So i couldn't boot with my QPI Clock Ratio and Uncore Clock Ratio on Auto. With a blck at 191 that should be well under the specs of 8 and 4. As soon as i use x36 and x16 it boots fine. I see that FtW is using auto at 210 blck. Ideas? Sorry for the newbieness here guys alot of new information on core i7 :P

Guys, I have the 6GB Triple Kit Corsair 1600 7-7-7 but I have to use 1.66v in bios to maintain stability @1600, Health Status reads 1.645v. Any one is using same kit? I have read some ppl can run this ram @ 1600 7-7-7 with 1.62v but I'm not sure.

I'm using the Corsair XMS3 1600MHZ CL7 (ver. 2.2) too, and the actual Vdimm drops on my MB (DFI UT X58) too. 1.665v BIOS-set ends up as 1.64v BIOS-report, 1.64v in SG (DFI's monitoring SW), and 1.65v in Everest. It has been running stable with this Vdimm on it's rated speed, but raising the tRCD makes it more stable, including on this HyperPi32M run @1680MHZ 7-8-7-21 1.65v and CPU @4.41GHZ(210x21) 1.32v.

I have been playing with this kit, and it seams to run much more stable with tRCD one notch higher without loosing any bench-number, but I could never get it stable with 1.62v at these speeds.

Thanx for clarification, does this ram use BBSE chips? and you was able to get stability with this ram @ 1600MHz 6-7-6?

You are welcome . I have never taken off the cooler to look at the chip, but as far as i know all Corsair ver. 2.2 (including this one) are Elpida BBSE chip.

I have only been playing with BCLK210 and 211, and tested CPU and RAM stability only at 211x19, 210x20 and 210x21, and never got a chance to play with all the options for the RAM stability @1600MHZ. But I have seen others to run some kind of stability test @1600MHZ 6-7-6-18 1.635v with these sticks.
