there is better news than getting it back in the PC, there are now console users who didnt know what they were missing and now want dedicated servers and custom mods/maps affter hearing the advantages. if that comes to fruition it will be a great day for all gamers.

they just ruined the best thing that they going with pay dlc map packs on consoles

Haha, the receptionist's response at IW was hilarious. Hopefully they'll add support as an 0-day patch or something after they see all of this.

i also dont like the idea that pc is for fps and MMO only, somehow EA and activishion both got the idea and now i have to use a console to play brutal legends since the pc vershion that it was initaly demoed on was dropped when act dropped it and EA picked it up even though tim shafer makes all of his games for the pc unless he cant contractually (psycho naughts he had to wait 2 years) /rant
No. PC was for FPS, Simulators, RTS, and MMO's

Now all thats left is: MMO's and RTS

fps- loosing to console now as we speak and are being dumbed down
sims- have been dumbed down to nothing for the consoles
rts- we are gonna loose this one too soon enough
mmo- will most likely be the last stronghold for pc

In fact console developers are doing everything they can to take the best of PC and bring it to their ignorant users. Thats the mass market after all. Which is fine, but they shouldnt dumb down PC games in the process.

I was really looking forward to this game but with no dedicated server/server browser there's no way in hell I'm going to buy it. I own an xbox 360 played COD4 (brother got it to play with work colleagues) and it was so frustrating to not have server filter/list and be limited to a measly JOIN button waiting for it to join some random lobby.
Like gee why not come hold our D***'s / Go Girl's while we take a leak ..(yes googled that go girl thing I'm sure the gals are well pissed too)..... as if a casual gamer can't browse a server list and find a game to join by themselves.

The only way i would buy it with no dedicated sever is if its cross platform and the match ups are always pc vs console ...........yeah yeah never gonna happen but one can wish right

Shadowrun had PC and console players. No idea how well it worked since I didn't pick it up, but I don't think it was too bad. Most console games have slight auto-aim to compensate.

gears had it and affter a week removed it, console players cannot compete with a mouse and keyboard. this also happened with halo were the MS wanted to make halo cross platform multi player, the devs said that console gamers cant play against pc users it wont be fair, so MS sets up the winners of a pro lvl halo turny v devs who do graphics and code and not game. the devs destroyed the pro players and it wasnt even close

That's not entirely true. I buy plenty of pc games to help support the platform. IW means nothing to me at this point in time. I've been a huge fan of the CoD series and have purchased 1/2/4 all on launch day. CoD4 was a big disappointment for me. It felt very dumbed down and arcade compared to it's older brothers.

If I do purchase MW2 for Xbox it would be a used copy from Gamestop because I can still receive my employee discount. It wouldn't hurt or help IW or MW2 at all.

I would rather spend my money supporting a developer who seems to have taken time to make a good game and realizes the strengths of the PC platform like Gearbox seems to have done with Borderlands.

IW loses a $60 from and Gearbox gain a $50 sale from me. I still end up supporting pc gaming and I save $10 on IW's gouging.

Yeah, mouse and keyboard gives way better response and precision than a gamepad can. I've played a ton of CoD on pc and am pretty good, but I couldn't get more than just a couple of kills when I tried it on xbox. Sure I'm not used to the gamepad, but I don't see how anyone can think that you can make cross platform fps games work.

Lost Planet Colonies is cross-platform. I obliterate the xbox360 users. It's just hilarious strafing left and right and having them shoot nothing but air while I continuously shoot them while moving. It's a crime to have cross-platform fps games . Of course it means more players to pad your stats as a PC gamer, but then again you're playing against 13 year olds that are just going through puberty. AKA raging hormones and a hilariously low temper

    I disagree.
RTS will be a PC genre just as long as an mmo will. And real SIMS are played on the PC, not a console.
I agree with FPS obviously, no one can dispute that they are dumbed down and getting worse and worse.

They can try all they like to bring the games to console but most attempts fail...

RTS will stay a pc genre. I don't think there are enough keybindings on a gamepad and screen-scrolling capability to even remotely make it better for a console. The same reason that FPS are best played on a pc.

If console owners are finally coming around to our way of thinking then that would be an excellent step, before the IW fourm was split up all you got from them was "well if we can't have free maps and dedicated servers then neither should you".

As for the level of backlash created, I am genuinely stunned. I suggest everyone looks at the thread on the fourm where clan after clan has pulled their support (sorry at work and can't link it but it was 25+ pages last night). That to me is equally as impressive as a petition of 80,000+ signatures as these are the hardcore players who spend a lot of time, effort and money on their hobby.

What is amusing though is that when it comes down to it all of this has been created by Activision simply to give them the ability to rake in a few more pennies by being able charge PC players for map packs.

Not to mention processing power. I cant imagine running Supcom FA on some crappy console cpu.

Did IW think about the Dedicated server hosts when they thought of this? For instance i paid for a L4D server for around 4 months @ £18.95. The game cost £30. I know at least 30 other players on my friends list who have done exactly that.

I can't really see what this decision is helping.
