I doubt it will change their mind. It's a pity. I began playing online with CS, jumped on CoD1 as soon as it was released and joined the clan I'm still in. I've been playing CoD like forever and now this? *sigh* I just can't believe it. I used to laugh at the Battlefield-players because of their expensive ranked-servers back in the good 'ole days.
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

Here is what a friend received from gameservers.com in response to a ticket he submitted inregards to a MW2 dedicated server:
Ticket JCG-53334 has been updated by Tanner Hurst [staff].
Hey XXXX (name blocked to protect friend),
I can't lie, as of right now we will not be able to support the game.
People are canceling their preorders and demanding their money back. Don't hold me to this but at last check the cancelations were upwards of 61,000 and counting.
IW has decided to NOT provide dedicated server support for the game, so therefor servers cannot be rented.
In the case that they change their mind (which we all hope they do) we will definitely be supporting the game.

Frag. Not Lag.
Atleast they know that the PC community is taking this seriously.
If they have to delay the PC version to get dedicated support added, then by all means. Till then they just basically told PC users to pirate their game for SP cause that's all we're getting. If I wanted a crappy matchmaking system I'd get it on my PS3, or look at Dawn of War 2 as reference for why it just DOES NOT work on the PC.

lol i just read a thread on another forum where a guy who works for a hosting company defends several decisions from IW.
Then when he reads the news himself about no dedicated servers he makes a complete turnaround.
I havent pre-ordered the game so nothing to cancel. Was going to pick it up on release day but i guess i just saved myself 40 to 50 euro.
Damn first Op. Flashpoint 2 and now MW2 i already saved close to 100 euro this month.
Sad tho cause i was really looking forward to the MP but no dedicated servers is just epic fail. Crappy match making systems always manage to put me on crappy servers with tons of lag.

Mate, i was an AI developer for POE:2 and just because mods were made for bf2 and successful mods, doesn't detract from the whole modding thing being a disaster. Dispite the all the flaws for modding bf2, the biggest problem by a country mile was DICE treating mods like they are competition to their game rather then an addition to it. There is nothing more frustrating then working through all the problems the game engine throws at you and then when DICE releases a patch (right after you release your mod more often then not) and then finding that half of it no longer works. DICE is going to have to do some serious ass kissing to get the traditional modding community back to their new games.
i said 2 years ago that IW is one of the greatest game developers i saw
today, i take it back.
might as well take the money i planned to spend on MW2 i will rather save it till BF:BC2/BF3 comes out
IW can go eat bananas
80k Ppl [and its been like only 30 hours since the news, i bet the rest doesnt know about those news yet]
as of now, they lost 5M dollars from pc gamers and it going downhill from here

I hope they are going to lose more than 4mil. So far they are about to lose respect and love from PC community and i believe is just the beginning. Since they basically just killed MW2 for us. Doesnt matter if they make MW3 or not , we still not going to be able to play it. And as many people said before. I will play the SP but IW doesnt going to have my money. And thats coming from a guy who had PRE-ORDERED 3 copies back in June from Amazon.com!
This makes no sense .
So with no dedicated server IW essentially decided to make COD MW2 a single player oriented game.
As awesome as the SP game play could be in MW2; it does not justify $60 for a another botched PC gaming title console port .
Sadly I'm in the same boat as you guys: With lackluster MP support, it's very hard to justify purchasing MW2 now.

I signed the petition and called into Gamestop and canceled my preorder. I will not be buying this game. IW made a huge mistake with this. If I do buy it at all, it will probably be for Xbox so I could play with my old co-workers from Gamestop but I'd rather spend the money on Borderlands or Assassins Creed 2.

doing that will help to kill pc gaming, and who buys xbox games, MS keeps making the console able to play copied games and went so far as to change out the dvd to make it easier and needing sata only its as if they are endorsing piracy to keep their console sales over the ps3

Here we go again with the 'kill PC gaming' crap again.
Please. PC gaming isn't going anywhere. WoW proves this. However, it's the PC Game developers that are dying out.
The only good PC developers right now that make solid FPS games are Valve and DICE. DICE is coming up with BF1943 and BF:BC2 for the PC next year. They confirmed it has dedicated server support and should be 64 players. They're our last hope for a true PC FPS experience.
Again... PC Gaming isn't going anywhere. Tired of people that say this![]()
i meant more of for this cause of not getting MW2, if u go no dedicated on the pc im not going to get it, then get the 360 whats the point, you are just illustrating that they dont need to make a pc one or make the pc one with pc features
i also dont like the idea that pc is for fps and MMO only, somehow EA and activishion both got the idea and now i have to use a console to play brutal legends since the pc vershion that it was initaly demoed on was dropped when act dropped it and EA picked it up even though tim shafer makes all of his games for the pc unless he cant contractually (psycho naughts he had to wait 2 years) /rant

if WOW was on the 360, utilizing the little thumb keyboard, then PC gaming would be even worse off.
EDIT and see above post for more info

Cancel, imho, and don't purchase until dedicated servers are back on the table.
It's best to hit them where it hurts - in their bottom line, and to have all their vendors and hosts breathing down their neck. If they get their crap together, then I'll be first in line to pay full price.
this is a bigtime line that's been drawn in the sand between developers and the PC gaming community, and sets precedent for how badly we allow ourselves to get hosed in the future. you can't just ignore hundreds of thousands of gamers, or lump us all in with console gamers. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for IW and a warning to other developers.

Boom. Thats it right there. They definitely won't ignore it now. They would be fools. The amount of effort needed to add dedicated support would be no where CLOSE to the money they lost on those 60k preorders. Or even close to the money they could make with forced DLC on the pc.
The funny part about this whole thing is that:
PC gamers don't takeas an option (this petition and community response) while console gamers continue to bend over as they don't know any better
hahaha, i love that this happened, i think it will make them realize pc gamers are not like console gamers, we know more, we expect more, our standards are much higher, thats why its tougher to sell a pc gamer a game, then a casual console gamer. Im proud of everyone, good job.![]()
