Or 3D rendering APIs become more generalized and there will be no such thing as a "3D architecture" anymore since everything will be software based with maybe a few legacy hardware bits for texture mapping / decompression.At that juncture, the architectures may have to diverge — especially if the professional
market grows larger than the consumer market.
I would bet money that Nvidia's launch for Fermi will include a ray-tracing demo.
