That man has a point!
Don't go above 1.90V on the LV kits.
No problem mate, I just wondered about that statement.
I have seen that many people have problems with the OCZ LV sticks on the Gigabyte UD3-boards, I never had any problems, mine are able to run DDR2-1066 CL5 with 1.65V...![]()
+1 for that at the same price the GSKILLPI 1200 and the LV GSKILLS i would not think a minute mates...mines benched till 2,5V and run all day since a year at 2,26 to 2,3 and benched lots of days at more volts, so did Jor and Napalm, Oc nub, Power Chips cant take much voltaje and dont get warm...not the same on elpyda's
I always wanted a kit that i can use with the warning "never go up than..." so i went for this and its the best kit i ever had
Those seeking on the UD3P/R great clocks and pump vdimm for benches go the the Gskills PI PC29600 without thinking inmo
Cheers to all

I have a few questions in regards to this motherboard, any body can chime in here. Your time and help are appreciated and thank you. Is a VDrop of .064 with in spec for these mother boards? Also Is it normal for the GTLs happy spots to change? Thanks again,

i loved my pi set while i had em but @ those prices i rather buy another set of ddr3 to play with
for 96$ i got another set of ddr3 hopin for 1800 cas7 and recycle them on i5
to be honest i would pay 50$-100$ more for pi than a lv ddr2i paid 300$ for my set last year so its dirt cheap to me now
my 9650 rig hasnt been turned on since i primed it

I am gussing you are joking with the last part, hope so because I have been wondering to be honest. I was seriously freaking out though like, what the hell???? I have it stabelized it now but I just thought it was weird along with the fact that this board has a .064 VDrop. I was thinking maybe the board is kind of a flunky but, I wasn't to sure.
I have never had to deal with VDrop before and I have had a fair amount of motherboards in the past. Thank you for your advise by the way. Does any one know about the VDrop thing, how much is to much before I should just RMA the board on the whole Vdrop issue?? My Asus motherboard had like, none. Thanks again,

As far as the GTLs "happy spot" changing with OCs, I dont think there is any consensus, as I asked this question a while back. The advice given for the Q9650 was to set VTT to 1.2 then change gtls to .78 and .80 (CPU and MCH). Some people stated that this ratio should remain the same regardless of OCs, and I believe it has worked for some. Others as zsamz has stated say you should continue to tweak the GTLs when you make OC changes. I believe in the first part, but thats only based on simplicity as I dont want to keep tuning them with every OC. I havent done a ton of P95Blend, but for me setting the .78 and .80 at 1.2VTT has worked for all my OCs (Q9650). Of course I have raised VTT but the ratio remains the same. It would be nice to hear from others on this issue.

I won't be going back to Asus until I see they have a winner again in the future maybe but, I am concerned about the VDrop though and wondering if I should care or not still.
I will probably just go buy another Power Supply tomorrow and send this one back to Silverstone to see what they think about it to be safe. I will get a bigger wattage one so, I can take out the booster. Thanks again if any one has an opinion on the whole VDrop, issue.

^ same here with the f11. I had to up my voltages from f9 settings for stability.
<Happily plugging away on the new mobo here. Still priming to make sure the new board is where I left off with the old one.
If you own an Intel processor then Vdroop is your friend.
I've said this countless time. I use my stable settings with the Vdroop control disabled and all the C1, C2, EIST, Thermal Management estates on Enabled...
The only problem with this board is that little part that sits between the chair and the monitor.
If you don't have time to sit down, take notes and spend a couple of weeks learning how to OC a quad till 5Ghz, then this board is not for you.
No Asus, DFI, MSI, etc can touch it with Quads.

Are all quads this hard to O/C? If I go anything over stock, it wont restart after exiting bios or restarting the machine, have to hit reset. And it will freeze my games and give error messages a plenty. It also recognizes my ram as ddr2-800
My E8400 clocked to 4Ghz, no problems at all.
Is it the board thats picky? I have never seen so many bewildering bios options in my life![]()

Ok, Ok, I will speak easy here as to not, offend you but, I said clearly and even put a comma in front of it for the pause so people would think before they speak "VDrop" not, droop. I am not concerned with my VDroop and yes, I know about all the technical stuff. I read up on all of that. My damn cooling is not good enough for 5GHz! I am on air here man, read my sig.
The chip starts shooting up to high temp wise when I set it to use the load line past a certain point but, I am using it at the point right before it makes my CPU temps go to high "90s" which is @ 1.3475 or something really close to that number. Anything higher then the before mentioned Voltage setting and it sky rockets.
When I set my CPU voltage without the Load Line I have to set the CPU voltage to 1.4v to get 1.280 some times under load and it stays at idle at 1.342v, thus my VDrop of sorry my math was off I see now, .058v . I set it to use load line at 1.3475v and I get a constant of 1.296 which keeps everything stable under full load. I hit 81C under full load with Intel burntest with load line turned on at that, voltage.
I know for a fact my, gtl happy spots have changed on me because I wrote all the settings down before I cleared the CMOS after lapping my CPU. I had everything set in my BIOS manually, it took me about 24hrs total time to get everything perfect before clearing that CMOS. I have everything honed in again setting wise and everything is stable again now. I just want to know if the VDrop, is bad enough to warrant an RMA. I am picking up a Corsair HX 850w for the hell of it tomorrow.
Don't be mean like I know absolutely nothing because I am fairly experienced when it comes to over clocking. I do not claim to know everything but, I am fairly well off knowledge wise compared to many. I help people when I can and ask questions when I need advise.
Now you know what I am saying more clearly tell me what you think and thank you.
P.S. : I am not coming in here tuting about ASUS, this board spanks my Asus which is why I bought it a week or two ago.I sold my friend my old GA-P35-DQ6 so I know Gigabyte has good boards. Hell I was 7th in that overclocking contest Gigabyte had right about when they had come out with the GA-P35-DQ6, or a little time after not to long that's for sure.
Again thank you for your advise people, I appreciate it a lot.

Highroller that was not direct to you, sorry but you missed interpretedIt was a fun remark directed to some people that never tried hard enough, complains all the time and come in this thread to take and never give.
Now to get to your questions, if that big difference is the case I would leave Load Line Calib. enabled to reduce that gap.
Questions: After all that change and after lapping your cpu have you flashed your bios to try different versions? If so you might have flashed a newer BIOS with the new RAID firmware and those (1.20E) impact stability too.
Another factor is temps. Q9650 above 60oC will throw out unreliable results when it comes to Priming. Lapping will also have a direct impact on this sometimes a negative one.
I never seen Ref's on the same board changing, only if something significant within that same board has changed too (ex. weak capacitor, banged smd etc).
Sorry about that, I get defensive some times. Yeah I am leaving it set, it just concerns me how this board acted when I first fired it back up and started resetting all my settings and then I noticed the slight change in gtl happy spots and was like hmm bad voltage drop, and weird issues with gtls changing on me
.
Which I have never experienced before. I just wanted to see what every one else here thought. I have been wondering to if my power supply is acting up for awhile now. I will find out for sure tomorrow when I get that new one from Microcenter. Thank you for clarifying that, and sorry.![]()

Good we all squared.
Another footnote: My entire experience surrounds Rev. 1.0 and 1.1. I just checked your sig and the 1.6 might be an entire different animal.
So people with that Rev. could be a more reliable source of information.
As far as I'm concern Rev. 1.0 with F4 bios is still the best.
