    however, i've got two panels here: a 19" viewsonic va902 with 8ms and a 22" widescreen lg l227wt with 2ms. the 8ms response time of the viewsonic are completely unacceptable for gaming. when moving the mouse in a fps everything is soo blurred and fuzzy. you can hardly see any details while moving around. for me that's definately a nogo for gaming... a friend of mine has a 24" with 5 ms and even these 5ms look a lot worse than my l227wt with 2ms, else i'd have already swapped my 22" for a 24" display.
    i really do think overdrive is doing a damn good job on these 22" 2ms panels. there's definately a huge difference between 2ms panels with good overdrive and ones with more response time.
    Whoever believes this 2ms crapshoot response value he has absolutely no clue about LCD monitors, that's for sure.

    Clearly everyone doesn't know that because no such thing exists.

    The HDTV video mode 1080p assumes 16:9 aspect ratio, that's why the horizontal lines are not mentioned when HDTV resolution is presented.

    1080p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes...The term usually assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels.

    I stand corrected then. I only go by what I've read from monitor reviews, so I was lead to believe that high response times and input lag made only TN matrixes acceptable for purposes where images change fast and not in a fluid way. At least, that's what XbitLabs and the Anandtech LCD thread say, as most of the monitors listed underneath the gaming section are TN matrixes. Correct me if you have read otherwise.

    1440x1080 with 16/9 DAR is quite common, so assuming is not the best option here...

    I have a benq gw2400

    works great for what i use it for... little to no ghosting depending on game

    its 5ms but the input lag is around 15 for me so...

    I thinks its mroe down to when the articles where written and the first "cheaper" panels where coming out there was big problems with ghosting etc... like say plasma with burn in and oled with degradation, over time its just matures and ends up not being noticable (thats what i put it down to) the techs just progressed

    Unfortunately, Dell seem to have discontinued it. Reading the Dell forum, looks like the supplier couldn't get them enough panels or something. Otherwise 2 of those would make for great surround monitors.

    Im not sure the hd5850 or hd5870 1gb wil be sufficient to run the 30" with the quality turned to the max. seeing the review of the 4890 1 vs 2gb.

    Except it's the exact same thing, just with different PIXEL aspect ratio of 1.33:1.

    1440x1080 video is recorded using rectangular pixels with an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 ... 1.333333 x 1440 = 1920
