    Hi guys,

    Im new to this forum.

    I have the ex58-extreme motherboard.

    I have a strange problem,

I am running my system with two gigabyte 260 in sli.

sometimes, when i power up my computer, my monitor doesn't get any signal when it boot up, I have to wait until i heard the sound of vista starting up, and i got the vista logo on my screen.

I hardly get to see the post screen.

Do you think there is any problem with my motherboard?

I have got a question. When I fire up CPU-Z and go to the SPD tab and go to slot 5 it says it's empty, but the system shows 6gb of ram. Is my dimm bad or is it something else?

cardnut9968, which version of CPUZ are you using?

When your system is POST'ing, how much RAM does it say is installed?

Press tab on the Gigabyte splash screen to see the POST details.

Also, if you go into task manager, then on the performance tab, how much does it say for the total physical memory installed?

I had an issue a while back where my system was only seeing 4GB of RAM instead of 6GB, both the Windows Basic Info and CPUZ said that I had 6GB, but when I checked the BIOS, POST info, and Performance tab in Task Manager, they all reported only 4GB...

If you update to the very latest version of CPUZ (1.52.2) it will tell you if your system is only seeing 4GB..

I am not sure how many VGA/DVI outputs do 260 come with, but try plugging the monitor to another dvi port within the same card or the other card.

    Snow Kitty

Guys I got snow leopard running on this board with this pre-boot iso
Needs Snow Leopard for $30 from Best buy, the upgrade disk is a full install!
    Here is the pre-boot link- bit.ly/r7xwN (10mb)

It needs a 8800gt but you could change this afterward, I think.

Made it with a preboot making program from here bit.ly/2ja7Nq (30mb)

    Dont get easier then this.

Ahhh, I have been meaning to try installing OSX on my new rig, used to run it on my old AMD Dual Core system a while back, using iDeneb 10.5.5 version, and it used to fly, I can only imagine it being 100 times better now with this i7 rig..

I am gonna dig out my disc and give it a go this weekend, as I loved using OSX for general day to day use, and just use Windows for benching and gaming..

Not that I know of mate.

Why would you want to disable it anyway???

Well it slightly disturbs me while sleeping, since the light goes thru my upper case ventilation and reflects blue light on the wall. Not a big deal though.

I have heard that people have issues with OCZ RAM in Gigabyte X58 mobos. Is that true? I could buy much faster OCZs or slower Corsairs.

Would you recommend 6 GB / 1600 Mhz / 1.65V RAM from OCZ for running 920 D0 at 3.6-4.0 Ghz? Is it worth buying 1600 Mhz ram for OC-ed 920, or I would be better with a faster 1333 Mhz one?

I have 2 sets of OCZ 6gb (mine and wifes builds) and 1 sets of corsair 6gb (one of my OCZ sticks went bad) , all work fine in both my wife and my GB x58. Currently I am using corsair dom. 1600mhz, 7,7,7 20 1.65v. My wife has same specs in her OCZ. Have not had any problem with either, except one of the OCZ sticks bit dust in mine, but that will occur with any brand...need to be less lazy and rma it, but just overnighted some corsair from newegg instead.

I would get 1600mhz minimum of whatever you want OCZ or Corsair, dont get 1333, price nearly same and 1333 will limit your options if it does not OC well.

We are waiting on Lsdmeasap to give us more info on these new mobos.. I was told from another source that they were scrapped completely, but Lsd has confirmed that this is infact not true at all, but he wasn't able to say anymore quite yet, but he did say that it was good news what he was told, so I assume they will be getting released sometime in the very near future.

But you could wait forever if you keep putting off your upgrades, if I were you I would just get one of the current UD5's now, they are excellent mobos, I have 2 here, and they are flawless!

Hmm, tempted but I'm planning to put a native VMM on my set-up.
Most prolly ESXi, but will try Xen and maybe a few others if no good.

The 1st couple of VM's on it will be:

    1) NAS/FS
    2) MythTV backend / PVR

Now of only the freakin EX58A would hurry-up and come out!

    Ciao

Hi Im having problems getting my board over 208 BLCK. My chip only needs 1.16v for 4Ghz (191x21) and 1.23v for 4.2Ghz (200x21) but i freeze on post screen at anything over 207 BLCK.

Whats the main voltages that effect BLCK? Im dropping multi to x19 and running turbo off to test max BLCK.

    Thanks for any help.

    Brad.

VTT is main voltage for BCLK, Also IOH voltage. try fiddeling with this, keep in mind that TO much can also have the reverse effect.

Thanks mate it seemed IOH of 1.2v was the problem. Lowered it to 1.16v and just passed alittle linx run at 211 BLCK. Will keep pushing.

Argh managed to get up to 215BLCK and pass some link but tried to stick multi up and see if it would boot at 4.5Ghz. It failed and will now not post at the settings saved that passed link with 215 BLCK.
