AMD X4 630 Shows up on some US Online Retailers

Was looking online to see if any reviews or previews had showed up for this chip and came across it on the buy.com website. it also listed the part number as ADX630WFK42GI. I looked on google shopping and came across the vendors that appear to be selling it now, buy.com has the listing but it isn't for sale yet. the only issue I see is that its over $140 on all the retailers sites. I hope thats not close to the final msrp because there would be no reason to purchase it at that point with the X4 810 so cheap and the new 95W X4 945 only a little bit more with all the added cache the X4 630 is missing, plus the X4 945 is clocked at 3.0ghz compared to 2.8ghz so hopefully the real msrp will be much lower than the $140 area.

here are the links to what I found searching online. http://www.buy.com/prod/amd-athlon-i...211874065.html

    http://www.google.com/products?clien...N&hl=en&tab=wf

I am guessing this means the xbit website that said to expect the X4 630 on August 23 is more accurate than a couple of sites that had said the release had been pushed into september if not later.

It's different than X4 810 though. it carries Athlon brand name, and lacks L3 cache.
maybe its L3 cache can be unlocked with ACC?

i know thats why i thought that the price seems high for the X4 630 is because it lacks the cache. even though X4 810 is clocked lower the cache on phenom II's has seemed to help them a lot.

what i am most curious about with the X4 630 though is through all the multiple reports on it I want to see what the real TDP is. multiple sites have reported it at 95W and multiple sites have also reported it at 65W. If its 65W then I think that it could be popular. If its priced similar to the X4 810 though without the added cache and if it has a 95W TDP then I don't really see a reason for it.

TDP won't really matter at all. I can almost swear if it's 95W TDP, it won't even drain 65W at fulload LinX/Prime/OCCT etc. etc.

there is no L3 cache to unlock on this chip that would be a horrible waste on phenom parts all athlon parts are made with out L3 cache.

if this is the one thats super tiny compared to any other quad, due to lack of l3, then even at 100$ its still a good profit for AMD

well the retailers selling it online in the links i provided in the first post are selling it at over $140. This morning a site from the UK reported it being sold from retailers at 99 pounds which is almost $163 US dollars. So I am beginning to lose faith that this chip is going to be sold competitively. If its sold at that price an X4 810 is a better value and an overclocked X4 810 should beat the X4 630 pretty easily as most phenom II's cache has usually given them a 15% to 30% advantage over similar clocked Athlon II's. Though If I recall correctly the X4 810 only has 4mb L3 cache instead of the 6mb L3 cache rest of the Phenom II's have. And with the new X4 945 at 3.0GHZ and a TDP of 95W and only $20-$30 more right now It would be the Quad to get especially if any retailer like newegg does a deal for like $10 off.

Now if these early prices are just inflated because they know the bigger online retailers aren't offering these chips yet an the X4 630 is like $100 than it would be another story. Guess we will have to wait and see until places like newegg get it in stock.

I can tell you fact no way is cache anywhere near 15% better for phenom II it's only like 5% faster clock per clock.
however 810 with 4mb can be unlocked to 6mb with acc.
TDP is overstated probably because V core is 1.334 seem be the number for AMD on vcore (1.337 anyone lol)
it too probably can lowered by quite a bit like most of these 45nm chips can be.

I am pretty sure these chips will be dirt cheap. We are just seeing initial inflated prices.

I am very interested in seeing reviews of these awesome chips in action!

If it's 65W TDP Quad it will be a killer chip to beat Intel Q7 / Q8
    TOo bad it's 95W

I'm a bit shocked with the 95W TDP. If they can make a PhII X4 945 that runs at 3Ghz with a full 6MB of L3, I don't see why a 2.8Ghz chip with no L3 would be the same TDP.

If the TDP would be 65W then the AMD should mark all of these CPUs as energy efficient ("e" letter). I think that this is the reason why the AMD put all non 45W Propus to the 95W class. Simple marketing.

    the man has a point.

I think it will be lesser than 95W then.
