Well, Nvidia selling it for cheap does not mean they're making the same profit margin as a smaller die and less complex chip.

Like when the 4850 and 4870 came out, the GTX 260 and 280 had a $100 and $200 price cut overnight.... was it because the chips weren't that expensive? Not necessarily, it was jut realization that they wouldn't sell a damn thing without lowering prices... in turn, they got hit on profit margin so instead of making $100 or $200 more per card, they had to bite the bullet...
