Yeah Johnny, I am praying to the gods that this new CPU will do the trick.. One really good thing about this replacement processor, is that it is a retail chip whereas the one I returned to them was OEM.. that means I get full 3 year warranty with Intel themselves!!!
I really can't fault the guys at OcUK, not many people would have done this when my last processor didn't show any faults when they tested it...
I will have to give this new BIOS a try when my processor arrives tomorrow..
@Stasio, what do they mean by improve PCIe?
Will this mean that I can raise the PCIe clock higher than 103MHz, or does this still require the hardmod???
Dang it, my USB keyboard still doesn't work on the Boot-Up screen with the final F9.![]()
enable usb keyboard support from the bios. that should do it.
That's what I did. I'll try disabling it in case its a bug or something.
Edit: Nope didn't work. *sigh*

USB Keyboards bugs have been in the last two sets of Beta's and this affects more than the G15. If you are speaking with Janus please let him know as I have passed the info on a while ago and it must not have made it into the right hands yet.
And if you are speaking with Janus again, can you please get a full direct explanation of what XHD is because I think info posted at some sites may be wrong about SATA3 (Why would that be used that in a NON SATA3 board?)

Bios F8 final for GB X58ex works well on mine, S3 works perfectly, OC's same, startup is quick without lags...

When I tested F8f the other week before I returned my processor, I also had problems with my keyboard not working in DOS.. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 v1.0 keyboard.. I am waiting for my G15 to be delivered to me, but as I see this keyboard is also experiencing the same issue...
Can someone explain what it means by "Improved PCIe/Memory Compatibility" for this F8 final?
Does this mean we can raise PCIe clocks past 103MHz without the hardmod?
Anyway, I think I will just be sticking with F7 if the keyboard bug is still present in this final BIOS... I thought that this was just a problem with F8f and that it would have been sorted with the final release, but by the looks of it, the problems are still present.
@rge, that is a really nice overclock you have there, makes me want to go out and buy an i950!!!
I have actually been considering getting one of these chips instead of another 920 for my second rig, but I'm not sure if it is really worth it tbh, as the 920 D0s are great chips and cost a lot less.. though having those extra multipliers would be great!
yeah the 950 you still have to get lucky in vcore lottery, just not as lucky in bclk/qpi/vtt lottery, since you can run with higher multi. But there are i920 that OC better than mine...I got 950 so when winter comes I can get 5+ just with "chilled" water, unless I decide to bite the bullet sooner and try ln2.
regarding pcie improved...maybe. I always froze at or above 103.3 on earlier bioses, now I freeze at 104.0 (using set fsb), 103.7 is stable 103.9 is kinda. My bclk made it to 230.7 before freezing, maybe 231 with tinkering just did quick test need to head back to work, whereas before 229 froze, so if it is an improvement and not just variability, it is a baby step improvement on mine. Though I did not try tinkering with volts much...
The highest Bclk I have had with my board was 225MHz, but as soon as I loaded the processor my system froze..
I would attempt the hardmod for my mobo, but those resistors are really tiny, I am not confident enough to attempt soldering something as small as this... I probably wouldn't even get as far as soldering it back on as I would end up losing it somewhere because it is so small!!!
I'm planning on going custom WC for one of my i7 rigs, but I will need to read up quite a bit before I take the plunge, as I haven't had WC before, and I would want to know as much as possible first before I try it out.
I have noticed the problem with the 1 usb keyboards I have. A generic Logitech USB and my G15, they both give me the the same problem. It was bad a few weeks ago when I had a dual boot setup but now with only one boot up drive it has been less of a problem. Going into the BIOS is not a problem, but when an overclock fails and I have to start windows normally or pick safe mode that is when the problem happens i have to wait that out.
Booting up my new I7 920 , UD5 build for the first time, it does not want to know my G19 keyboard ... bios of board is F7, so plugged in a PS3 keyboard and mouse to get started. In bios, USB keyboard and mouse support is enabled.
Not a good start
I need my G19 upon boot up choice!!!
However ... once you lose the horrible Gigabyte boot screen, its all much easier to understand ... I've been using Asus for too long ... I guess?
Installing Win XP now as part of a dual boot, Win 32/Win 7 64 dual boot, with a GTX 285 arriving tomorrow (will buy a second one for SLI later) Win 7 goes onto my SSD before even XP video drivers are installed.
But ...
I've been worried about all these horror storys of I7 boards only seeing 2GB of 6GB.
Hope mine see's all 6GB.
Fingers crossed
Later.
I am having some trouble getting my i7 to run anything past 4.410ghz on this board when I want to benchmark it. Now it only takes 1.440V Vcore (CPU-z) and 1.45V Vtt (bios) for me to take it to 4.4. I run my RAM at 840mhz @ 7-7-7-16 1T timings 1.70V (bios) Now this runs 3d mark fine and wPrime 32 and 1024M just fine. But when I go anything higher than a 210 base clock I get lock ups and BSOD's like no tomorrow. Now I am upping the voltage as I up the base clock. I am going for 4.5Ghz at least. I have tried 1.55V Vcore (bios) and 1.55v Vtt (bios) and it will still BSOD on me when running vantage at the 215 base clock. I have tried loosening the ram timings to 8-8-8-24 1T and up their voltage to 1.72V and it is no go. I have CPU PLL at 1.880V at all times. Now I am always trying to run my Uncore at x18 and my RAM at x8, so my Uncore is running a 2:9 ratio. I have tried lowering Uncore to x16 and it was no go. Now should I be playing around with another voltage settings, or just think my chip is at it's max? I am hoping I can squeeze out a little more for some benchmarks.
Yes there is an issue with all USB Keyboards, and I do believe this affects the whole X58 series. I had passed this info along during the last few beta's but my contact has been super busy and must not have gotten the Info to the BIOS engineers in time, or they forgot? I won't be able to say for sure though until after the 31st when he is back in the office.
Hopefully Hicookie reads this and passes this along to the BIOS Engineers, if anyone speaks with him on a regular basis they might want to remind him to let them know so it can be fixed in the next round of beta's. I do believe JZ is letting them know about the issue, but anyone else that can also remind them it would be greatly appreciated as I reminded them a few times and they forgot it seems.
XHD SATA Support is simply RAID, they just renamed the function due to upcoming SATA3.
It is the RAID function as same as previous version BIOS, just changed the BIOS item to the new name, nothing different.
If set eXtreme Hard Disk (XHD) to "Disabled", it allow you manually select "IDE", "AHCI" or "RAID" mode.
If set eXtreme Hard Disk (XHD) to "Enabled", it will switch to "RAID" mode only.

i have to say im impressed with this F8 bios, i just upgraded from F7 and the board now boots much quicker now with ACHI and RAID enabled
I enabled XHD aswell, no idea what it does and havn't seen an improvement in HDtach or anything but it works so i left it on
For some reason my 1866C7GT would'nt run at 1866 with the F7 bios either, all good with this F8 release![]()
Yes, just be sure you set all your RAID Settings to the same as before, that is all it is is RAID just renamed.

Yeah had to do that anyway since the bios wiped out. Atleast i found how to fix the error occured disk im my array aswell![]()
I'm gonna test this F8 final. I hope its as stable as the F7. All the F8 beta's screwed my max oc.
