Need a Gigabyte latest BIOS?
Z370 AORUS Gaming 7,
GA-Z97X-SOC Force ,Core i7-4790K @ 4.9 GHz
GA-Z87X-UD3H ,Core i7-4770K @ 4.65 GHz
G.Skill F3-2933C12D-8GTXDG @ 3100 (12-15-14-35-CR1) @1.66V
2xSSD Corsair Force GS 128 (RAID 0), WD Caviar Black SATA3 1TB HDD,
Evga GTS 450 SC, Gigabyte Superb 720W
XSPC RayStorm D5 EX240 (Liquid Ultra)
NZXT Phantom 630 Ultra Tower
Win 7 SP1 x64;Win 10 x64
Thanks, that helped.
In other news, i am still struggling to stabilze the 4GHz. 3.8GHz (181x21) seems to be pretty stable with 1.26V, RAM 1.64V and rest on auto. But...
I am in windows, but will BSOD after few minutes of Prime. If anyone have a suggestion, please share. I am quite a newbie, when it comes to overclocking.
My BIOS settings:
191x21
vcore: 1.281V
vtt: Auto
CPU PLL: 1.88V
RAM: 1.64VA
qpi link: x36
Uncore: at value to match 2x RAM frequency, not sure what number is it
Ram ratio: 6.0
PCI-E: auto
PCI spread centrum everythng off, except turbo and HT. Everything else is on auto i think.
Not to forget my specs: 920 D0 , UD5, OCZ 6GB 1600MHz, 720W enermax
Batch number is: 3911A318 - i never saw anyone with this # and neither google it seems, but i heard 39xxxx performing worse...
I dont really want to go higher than 1.3V with vcore, i'v already hitting 70C under load now with 1.27-28V. I'v got noctua cooler push/pull (with AS5 applied) and ATCS 840 case.
PS: What happens if you guys put too low voltage and PC wont post? At first, pc restarted and then message poped up, that overclocking failed. But recently i am not getting that, computer just keep restarting and i have to clear CMOS every single time. I am using F8F BIOS.

I've bought one of these boards already for my planned I7 upgrade, in the next couple of days I'm going to buy i7 920, GTX285 but not sure of what memory to buy for hopefully a stable 24/7 4GHz or more overclock?
Preferably from the following UK vendors list of available DDR3.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-24-32-0
http://www.overclock.co.uk/dept/DDR3...nnel_1002.html
Or if anyone knows a reliable supplier of good ram for this board?
I was hoping for Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) but everyone seems out of stock?
Thanks.

I have asked about this XHD setting, no reply yet though. I will keep you all informed once I find out, maybe Hicookie can stop by and let us know?

@M31, there is plenty of decent memory available at OcUK just now...
6GB OCZ Reaper 1600MHz RAM can be had for £80.99..

I don't think this memory uses XMP profiles, but you don't need these anyway.. I never use XMP for my Dominators anymore, I prefer to set everything manually.
Hey guys, I had a bios warning error last night and I had it on F8e update for 3 days. After I got the error it reset itself back to F7, so I reflashed it back to F8e.
Does my primary BIOS chip is dead? and I am using the backup chip?

Hey guys I just got an extra 6 gigs of OCZ XMP1600 memory and I'm having a lot of problems with the computer randomly rebooting and simply not overclocking anywhere near as well as it was.
I've memtested the ram and it seems to be passing fine at about 1480 mhz but if I try booting into windows I get a blue screen and that whole memory dump thing.
I had it freeze during a game of BF2 and when it rebooted 4 gigs of ram were missing at boot up. It just began restarting as soon as it got into the bios over and over. It was only running at 3.33ghz with memory running at 1333mhz.
enermax revolution 1050w PS
gigabyte X58 extreme
Core i7 920
12 gigs OCX XMP 1600
2 XFX GTX 285's
anyone tried the new LinX 0.6.1 with new Linpack files updated to version 10.2?
I was stable 100 passes with the 0.5.9, I tried 0.6.1 and it gave me error at pass 20, I bumped the vcore and it passed fine
I normally run 20 runs anyways, so my input probably isn't very valid. But it did run successfully. :/

Thanks ... after talking to them on the phone yesterday, I've actually bought Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) ram from them for my EX58-UD5 ...
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=8&subcat=1389
They say they are using this in their UD5, i7 920 pre clocked to 4GHz bundles now the Patriot is out of stock, so hopefully it will get me to 4GHz on same board and CPU too.
OK Guys ... quick question before the rest of the parts arrive and I can start my build ...
From my current rig I'll be using my OCZ Vertex SSD, Velociraptor 300, Raptor 150 and Samsung 750 GB on my EX58-UD5.
For best performance, especially for the SSD and Velociraptor, what SATA ports should I use for these drives (I understand there are two different controllers in use?) There will be a SATA DVDRW and Blu Ray optical drive used too.
Thanks.
Please wait!
HiCookie has said there is an issue with the microcode and D0 CPU's. Newer ones will be posted soon

I have been talking with a tech from OcUK today, and they have tested my current processor and found no faults with it at all..
But the guy I talked to understands my frustrations, and went ahead and sent me out another processor anyway!!!
It will be here tomorrow, I just hope that it sorts out this issues I have been experiencing..
Even though the CPU worked for them, I am still adamant that it is the IMC on that particular processor that was damaged, both mobos didn't detect the stick of RAM in the first white slot, and this happens with both of my tri channel kits...
Also, I have tested each stick of RAM individually with Memtest boot disc, and they all ran for 20 passes without a single error, I also tested with 2 PSU's, 3 GFX cards, multiple HDD's, and several OS'es, and each configuration gave me the same results..
I guess I will find out tomorrow when the new CPU arrives..
Anyway, a big hats off to the techs @ OcUK for shipping out a replacement chip even though they never found any faults with my current one!!!
I can't express how delighted I am over all of this!!!
I won't shop anywhere else now when it comes to PC hardware..
