This is the start of the roof. Im using 8mm clear as a base for the res and to allow a view down into the case.

Cut to a rough size i marked the front ready for cutting.

Roughly cut with a 4" grinder and filed down alittle. For the final build i will flame polish the edges so it looks like glass.

    Thats it for today

    Update 26th August.

Well i made a mock up res again to test if this way will actually work when filled with water. Using 2mm clear acrylic all around for the mock up i got some silicon. I saw this and well it said xtreme so I had to buy it

Anyway this was the end result. (upside down).

Now to test if this will hold water its time for a basic leak test. Straight water wouldnt have shown leaks too well so Robinson's to the rescue.

Adding alittle at time all seemed ok.

Soo no leaks and im pretty happy that if i do it alittle better with the plexi it should stay nice and strong. Iv gotta cut 3 holes into it for the fillport and inlet/outlet but may send it to Tom to be cut on CNC as i can see it breaking with a drill bit.

Looks awesome so far. I had a similar idea for a res in the roof for a future build. I guess you beat me to it! Quick question: what do you use to cut the acrylic?

I used a 4" grinder with 1mm metal cutting disc and as for flame polishing just enter it into youtube and all will be explained.

Have just read through you work log, looks really good, this will be the first res like this that I have seen, onto and outside of the case.
Have you thought about using Solvent cement to join the perspex with, as the solvent melts the perspex together it makes an exceptionally strong and water tight join.
Providing all edges are a close fit and solvent cement is applied to all edges.
    Worth a look.

Looking forward to your next update.

Can you link me to some decent stuff? Im thinking of using 3mm plexi instead and some better glue.

    Your res idea is amazing!

The white Enermax fans with the TC shroud is a really nice contrast, it makes everything pop.

Love the res design. I'm doing one similar but top of the res is routed so when
mounted inside the case it sits flush with the outside, however mine's just
    square and boring unlike yours
