If you bought one of the new generation Q6600's, the most you should expect to get is 3ghz. All the new ones overclock poorly and the older ones have great clocking potentials

It's a chip I got secondhand with a 1.25 VID. I got it to run properly on 3GHz with low voltage though, are there processors that supposedly do not go further, regardless of voltages?

Will a QX9770 C1 Stepping overclock as well as a Q9650 E0 in terms of FSB limits and max OC? Can i expect more of an OC out of a QX9770?

Thanks. Also the QX9770 has a vid of 1.3V and my Q9650 has a vid of 1.3V
Max i can get out of my CPU is 4.5Ghz 3d stable @ 1.5V.

    Thoughts?

If you have one of the newer ones I've heard they can't get over 3ghz no matter what you do to it. You're more than welcome to prove me wrong though. I suggest taking most of the settings off of auto and adjusting them manually.

Edit: It looks like you have one of the older ones actually as your vcore for 3ghz is quite low. I remember my Q6600 equivalent needed 1.5v for 3.6 (1.3125 VID)
