    This thread makes me
I really like how you are all convinced that nVidia are a long way off releasing their DirectX11 GPU and that ATi will release in September.
IMHO ATi might be before nVidia......but only by a matter of weeks.. 1 month at most. ATi will arrive in late October/Early November, nVidia will arrive Mid November/Early December.
Stock shortages for BOTH vendors will persist until Mid Jan 2010.

The thing is that everyone's claims that ATI will beat NVIDIA to market by quite a bit are at least substantiated by a number of rumours, and we've seen working silicon from ATI. If NVIDIA is only a matter of weeks behind, I'd bet my life savings that they'd have at least gotten a few reporters together behind closed doors to show something.

Ummm did you miss both conference calls?
AMD said they will have cards out BY Windows 7 launch.
Nvidia had to side-step any sort of statement.

I am more amused by you, and some others, being convinced that this ~480mm2 40nm chip is more than on-schedule.
Less than a week ago, CJ confirmed that G300 hasn't been taped-out for a long time.

Especially when those for months consist of Win7 launch AND Christmas season... But of course, they could always say "but we've got CUDA and PhysX so it doesn't matter if loose in everything else.."
I suggest you ask NVIDIA that question. Obviously they didn't feel it was important enough, and I'm inclined to agree.

The main thing is that it is possibly so delayed that some aren't even sure they can hit Q1 '10... Even if they do, if AMD really does launch in Sept, that is 6 months to the end of Q1 '10.
Four months after RV870 is my guess. Are we not allowed to speculate?

No, go right ahead. I am all for speculation, that is my forte.
I just have to disagree with what you were speculating.
IMO, 4 months after RV870 would be a best case scenario, i.e. everything goes smoothly here on out.

    Gentlemen,
All I am saying is that.... remember a certain "Can O' Whoop Ass" comment which was uttered by a certain "Founder and CEO" prior to the GT200 launch?

Now... didn't that can explode into the face of the CEO who said that he would open this?

Wouldn't it be wise to assume that he would have learned from his lesson this time around, and instead will act differently and instead go for tactics of "Shock and Awe"

We have a saying here that "Empty barrels make the most noise, but those full of bounty do not.."

ATi, could either fail to impress (HD2900/3800) OR "do a G80", we just do not know...

I'm interested as well. Are we talking about e-peen here? Folding farm? Building for others/customers?

Supply picked up just in time for the Xmas rush. The cynic in me says that was the plan all along. There's no longer a shortage and hasn't been since mid-late December. So that's hardly an excuse for the lack of a Fermi release date.

ATi has the GPU features, performance and value sewn up to the point that very few new builds currently have nvidia GPUs (unless they're on a bottom feeder motherboard). We're over half way through Q1 2010 and still no Ferming up. nVidia are looking increasingly impotent.

Used to head up a small business as the online sales director.

I got 2 cards at launch for my brothers and the rest went to the companies systems so we could play some team fortress 2 at work

The job was automated by me and quite easy for my team so I told the business owner that we work best when relaxing and the sales figures were always getting strengthened so he was cool about our relaxed attitude

My own personal pc is a celeron 352 with a 4670
