Hey folks I've been lurking on this forum with my EP45-UD3R for a while but I wanted to let people know I finally got the ballz to see what the limits are of my particular equipment and I thought I'd share that I got 500 FSB with 8GB of G.Skill 4x2GB 8500PCL 1066 Ram @ 1:1, with an 8x multi for my E8500 C0 steppin CPU at 4Ghz. It was stable on prime 95 for about 1/2 hour this morning, will do more testing tonight and see if it's really stable. Mem is at 5-5-5-15. Air-cooled.

Finally got my 9650 on water. This is a bit messy but until I decide how to mount everything it will have to do. Put it together as a temporary setup so wire management is pretty bad. The res I ordered will not fit inside the case. I used velcro extreme and a ziptie to mount it to the side of the rad, guess I should have looked at the specs before ordering . Temps are good though so I am pretty happy. Had a minor leak but not inside the case, got that fixed and seems to be ok now. Next I would like to get a NB Block.

Haha, that is messy. But if it works.... Are you using home depot tubing? I'm using that stuff because I was too lazy/cheap to get the better stuff. I will say that the cheap stuff is a huge pain to use because they are so stiff. You can't really maneuver anything around without putting force on the nozzles. So yeah, if you do decide NB, i recommend good tubing, clearflex at the least. Especially given how close your NB is to your CPU

Thanks Jor3lBR, I don't have any before and after but the temps are much better. I can prime up to 1.475v bios now without going over 75c, could never do that before.

Injuis, I ordered some from sidewinder but ordered the wrong thing so I picked this up from Lowes. I actually like this tubing but for the nb I will get something different. If you heat the tubing in warm (distilled) water it is easy to work with and when it cools it keeps the shape/bend you formed.

    G.Skill lv 9600s

Got them today, cleared CMOS and installed, booted right up. Runs at 1200 easily, everything okay with memtest. Booted as high as 1275, but not stable there-at least at my settings. B and D run okay, but doesnt like C.

Frustrated because I stll cant get stable above 4300. These sticks were not the magic bullet- guess I have to go water cooling after all.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get more on air, let me know.

Im stable at 478x9 best settings at 500x9

    I am running stock 9.5x333 @ 1.216 vcore
    CoreTemp: 45
    BIOS: 35

Is this possible ? 45 Celsius with stock speed ?
Running IntelBurn Test at Maximum level, i got 58 C. WTF ?

    EDIT:
    Let's go for 6x473 @ 1.216 | 1.3VTT
1st attempt: Black Screen at Windows
    2st attempt: BSOD during IBT

    Should I :
    a) Raise the VTT ?
    b) Low the MCH Ref ?
    c) Raise MCH Core ?
    d) Raise CPU PLL ?

    Hi there,

I recently switched over from a Maximus Formula x38 @ Rampage x48 to the EP45-UD3P.

Today's overclock-day so here's a little worklog. Any input is very welcome.

The full system specs are in my signature, but we're dealing with an E8500 C0 here.
The RAM was capable of something remotely stable on 1200-5-5-5-18 4x1GB. I'm aiming at <=DDR2-1200.

I'm looking at getting the maximum out of my RAM while maintaining the highest stable CPU OC.

I consider "stable" roughly 5 minutes of OCCT testing. After such stability I move on to the next step, until instability shows up, then I back off and start long-term testing.

DRAM 1:1, 2v (should suffice up to DDR2-1050/1100 on loose timings)
    LLC: Disabled
    BIOS: F9

4.0GHz stable: (no tweaking or finetuning voltages)
    9x445
    vCPU: 1.4v (1.34 Win)
    vTT: 1.3v
    ref: 0.848v
    PLL: 1.59v
    vMCH 1.2v
    ref: 0.783v
    DRAMref: 0.91
    ICH I/O: 1.59v
    ICH Core: 1.2v

4.2GHz stable: (no tweaking or finetuning voltages)
    9.5x443
    vCPU: 1.475v
    (1.44v boot, 1.4v load Win)
    vTT: 1.3v
    ref: 0.848v
    PLL: 1.59v
    vMCH 1.2v
    ref: 0.783v
    DRAMref: 0.91
    ICH I/O: 1.59v
    ICH Core: 1.2v

    4.3GHz UNSTABLE:
    9.5x453
    vCPU: 1.525v (1.47v boot, 1.44v load Win)
    vTT: 1.3v
    ref: 0.848v
    PLL: 1.59v
    vMCH 1.2v and 1.3v
    ref: 0.783v
    DRAMref: 0.91
    ICH I/O: 1.59v
    ICH Core: 1.2v

    4.4GHz UNSTABLE:
    9.5x464
    vCPU: 1.55v
    (1.5v boot, 1.47v load Win)
    vTT: 1.3v
    ref: 0.848v
    PLL: 1.59v
    vMCH 1.3v
    ref: 0.783v
    DRAMref: 0.91
    ICH I/O: 1.59v
    ICH Core: 1.2v

Note: vTT 1.3v OCCT 15 secs. vTT 1.4v OCCT 3 secs.
Note2: Temperatures are always fine. Load on 4.4GHz is 65c

Any input on the 4.2GHz+ settings is more than welcome.

    On to setting RAM settings:

My Maximus needed the following voltages for the following frequencies to be remotely stable:

Using the 4.2GHz template (9.5*443) with a lower multiplier.
    MCH/DRAM Ref: Auto
    DRAM Term: Auto
    Channel A/B: Auto
    DRAM Drive Strenght: 1066MHz
    BIOS: F4

    POST - Boot - OCCT (Unstable, 10sec))
    Strap: 2.66D
    Speed: DDR2-1181-5-5-5-18
    Volt: 2.24v (2.21v win)
    MCH: 1.3v
    PL/TRD: Auto

    POST - Boot - OCCT (Unstable, 1:30min)
    Strap: 2.66D
    Speed: DDR2-1181-5-5-5-18
    Volt: 2.28v (2.21v win)
    MCH: 1.3v
    PL/TRD: Auto

    POST - Boot - OCCT (Unstable, 15secs)
    Strap: 2.66D
    Speed: DDR2-1181-5-5-5-18
    Volt: 2.28v (2.21v win)
    MCH: 1.4v
    PL/TRD: Auto

    POST (Unstable)
    Strap: 2.66D
    Speed: DDR2-1181-5-5-5-18
    Volt: 2.30v
    MCH: 1.3v
    PL/TRD: Auto

So, as it seems my UD3P doesn't like it when I up the voltage of my RAM, which I think is really odd. If anyone can give me info on this it'd be much appreciated.

I can't give you any info on this other than mine is like that also. Just letting you know. I'm don't know if it is in certain situations, but at times if I try to clock high and have vdimm too high, bad results. Lower vdimm and it works ok. Oddly enough, around the recommended voltage seems best. I can do well around 2.2v to 2.4v

    6x455 seems pretty steady.

    Quote:
    Linx - Problem Size 20 000 - 2 Hours
    Orthos - Small FFT & Priority 9 - 5 Hours
IBT - Stress Level Maximum - 20 loops

So, I am trying 6x560 but IBT failed at 4th loop. So what I am supposed to do now ?
    Should I :
Raise CPU Termination Voltage (aka VTT)
    Raise MCH Core Voltage
    Other action ( ? ? ? )

I can do 471 X 8.5= 4.0 perfectly stable but I go into a non stop rebooting loop never getting to bios if I try 534 X 7.5 = 4.0. This is on my Q9550 E0 VID 1.16 cpu with the latest official bios. anybody have any ideas? I am trying to get my 1066 ram back up closer to its rated speed.

Does anyone know if 2 Enzotech mst-81's will fit on the mosfets on the UD3R? I'm thinking about ditching my P5Q D for one and would like to throw the chipset heatsinks from the P5Q on it.

    Thanks

    Multi: 9.5
    FSB: 443
    VCore (BIOS) : 1.325
VCore (Windows) : 1.296 (Vdrop = 0.034) with LLC enabled
    MCH Core: 1.3
    PLL : 1.57
    VTT : 1.2
    MCH Ref : 0.680
    CPU Ref: 0.760

Testing with Intel Burning Tool, I completed 5 Loops with standard stress level and my e800 temps reached 72 Celsius.
I am currently testing with Orthos (Small FFTs - CPU Test) and the temps are 59 to 61 Celsius.

    Am I stable ? Am I safe (voltage & temps) ?

here's the proof, this is my first attempt later i dropped vdimm to 2,26 and MCH 1,5 and passed fine

Voltages look fine. Temps could be better...do you have a fan on that Ultra 120 Extreme? If not, should add one. Stable???...I would shoot for 20 pass at max stress level in IBT. But that's just me. Good luck!
