likewise the PSU modding is set to begin and I just need to sit down and do it which should only take me one night I promise pictures will start flooding in soon

I do agree that you need a good camera, but once you get that good camera and a decent lens lighting is a piece of cake, either use morning/evening light and a fluorescent bulb like Charles has done with his most recent photo shoot.
I understand your predicament with the pics and don't blame you. Its just that a thread without pics is naked.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by the morning/evening light and florescent bulb? I'm an amateur photographer here at best.

I wont put words into sniipes mouth but I think he was referring to the use of natural light from the morning and the evening and then using a secondary fluorescent light to help fill in

yes, its a very powerful technique it just has the drawback of being time constrained.

In other news the folks over at Lamptron approached me to provide sponsorship I have engaged in designing certain items to be provided by them but more on that when we finish finalizing the design

Might I suggest a VFD that only provides a full 12v and monitors temps? I've since discovered my "method" () has some possible drawbacks.

Hey we want pictures of the stuff that came out less then perfect to we want those pictures more then the good ones.
Or to put it in an other way, it's nice with pictures of work in progress makes so you can snag ideas from the making of.

From time to time I have been known to post teaser pictures it will all become apparent in due time

(what you see here is a panel still in process of removing the stock sound proofing material, apparently a more difficult task than anticipated)

The front pieces look very nice.

I had to take the soundproofing material from a Cosmos 1000, it is very hard work and will probably be made harder as the cuts have already been made.

Good progress can't wait to see more

For removing sound absorbing foam, try a hair dryer or heat gun. I've done this a few times and while it's not perfect, it is a bit quicker than trying to pull the crap off with a bottle of goo gone.

Very hot water (near boiling) may also work but I'd really only recommend that on aluminum parts. Never tried this but don't see why it wouldn't work.

Missed this post somehow, thank you very much. Seems I have to buy a Canon for night shooting.

These panels look awesome, though on the second picture something is wrong, maybe it's just me, it didn't loaded properly or smth, but it looks like out of focus or something.

yeah its was killer removing but this industrial carpet adhesive remover I got made the stuff melt off (with the aid of a paint spatula)

I started out with heat and goo gone but it wasnt doint it for me, the problem is that this stuff is glued on not a tape like adhesive so its very robust and difficult to remove.

I also tried burning it off..... LOL that stopped when I almost passed out from the fumes of burning rubber

    Thanks Rob!

yeah that teaser was supposed to be very out of focus, the soundproofing made the panel look very messy

Really liking the industrial feel of the hex cap screws on the EK Supreme

Whoa... dang man, that would be some serious stuff. I take it you tried lesser skin damaging chemicals like acetone to no avail? I spent some of last night covering my hands with acetone in order to remove the wax from some hardened steel rods (CNC stuff)... and like, my hands developed these red dots everywhere for a few hours. I would wear latex gloves but I seem to remember something bad happening with latex and acetone when combined... Could just be me making up memories, don't know for sure. Anyway be careful.

Though the panel is looking so good I can see getting some chemical burns as all part of the worthwhile process in order to achieve the end result.

So, any news or elaboration on the seemingly brilliant craftsman behind your brilliant design?
