Are you sure your reading the Diode Temp ?

The MFII Socket Temp is miles out and its far lower than it should be, my CPU reads 18C right now which is total BS as room temp is 20C at 3am.

Read the higher Core 1/2/3/4 Temps from Speedfan or/and use Coretemp/Realtemp.

The reason I say this is all them Zalman CPU coolers are pretty crap and cool no where near as well as plenty others.

You would do better with a Noctua/TR True 120/Tuniq/Titan Fenrir

I'm using coretemp (did you actually look at my screen cap?)

This happened with my E8500 too - I posted a screen and the temps were low, and when people found out it was a Zalman 9700 they said "it must be a mistake" etc.

With the Q9650 @ 4GHz my load temps are 50C, and you say my cooler is "pretty crap"

    Nope its on water
Yes volts are needed no keep it stable tough all its not even warm, of course im on winter, in summer i just go back to my 4140Mhz on 1,26vcore

this chips does magic from 4300 to 4000 on low volts, after that more voltaje is needed like most quads.

    Thanks mate

    Cheers

Tried to boot at 500x9 and I may have corrupted one of my OS files. oh the cost of enthusiasm

    Respect

Ok guys lets chill and get back to topic.

Everybody uses the hardware they want here. The fun of tweaking can be found in any piece of hardware, from the cheap $1 ferrite cores for the psu lines to the most expensive graphic card. Lets not take that fun away just because this or the other board is better for Quads. Sometimes one has to reach the limits of one board to then look for others, same as for cooling, I started with cheap air now I'm already upgrading my Cryo-Z and thinking about LN2.

    Back to Q9650 OC:

Nice points Jor3|BR - I thought my 9700 would be too limited to cope with my Q9650 but now I'm setting my sights on 4.2GHz and maybe even 4.3GHz for everyday use seeing that my load temps are so low. I wanted the Maximus II knowing full well the UD3P was an easier board to work with, and I have no regrets since SPi @ 4.4 was very easy...once I had a decent BIOS.

    And 5GHz awesome

Jor3|BR how many times have you corrupted your OS with these crazy FSB/CPU speeds?

Well thanks, amazingly I only corrupted ONCE when I used setFSB instead ET6. EasyTune never corrupted anything and I use a Raid_0 array.

I can boot into windows with 5Ghz and still run some bench like Everest and SuperPi:

Hey Napalm! Yeah another advantage of these Ep45 I recall having several windows installation on different Hdd's on my DFI boards just to cover corruptions.

Thanks again for the congrats I only need 1 gold cup to conquer all the Q9650 results.

But for that I need to buy a Areca 9010 and that thing is $$$

Nice work greg I am also aiming for something similar - I just got my new OCZ blades today and will probably settle for the 5:6 divider, about 1150MHz.

Fortunately my Q9650 does nicely with low volts

    Nice job! Fantastic volts!!

The think is that i have a X48 chip so i need a lot more juice(to be fully stable) than P45s otherwise i cant imagine what my lovely Q9650 could with a P45....

Great temps greg.m for 1.424v, What CPU block did you have before this? And how much lower are the temps with the HeatKiller 3.0?
