Funny that F8c works pefectly here. So is there any difference between F8c(UD5) and F8e (Ex) ?
or F8d (UD5) and F8f (Ex) ?

You have to wonder what "Fix: D0 Stepping in OC" could mean?
Ive been running at stock for the last couple of days with F8B with RAM at 1600, uncore 3200 to run memtest86, a few passes.... and no locks or restarts under norm use, so ill return to this BIOS over the weekend
With the F8D, AHCI detect so much quicker, but with the same as above (stock) it locks and restart in low load situations (how i despise something in this setup, if only i knew which to blame)
Gigabyte EX58-UD5 | Intel i7 920 @ 4.01GHz, HT (3913B213) | TRUE (lapped & washered) | Kingston HyperX 12GB | Gigabyte 7970 OC | Dell 3008WFP | C300, WD Black 1TB, Green 1TB, and a VR | X-FI Titanium | akasa Eclipse-62 or Dell XPS 720 (ATX Mod)
Well I think I found out what "fix for D0 stepping" means - it's actually a bug fix from a previous beta bios we never got to see, in that version D0 CPUs could not overclock as well as on the previous versions of the bios because the BIOS settings would not get applied properly.
So it's nothing specific changed that will boost your D0 oc capability, only allowing it to stay at least where it's already at ^^
EDIT: I've gotten that info from JZ electric thread by using google translate (ger->eng).
But, I did notice something strange - I have a habit of doing Aquamark 3 bench runs before and after each bios flash, and guess what? Running F8F extreme bios on my UD5 board gave me a boost of 2k-2.5k average per run on the total score, which is somewhat below 1%, but it's definately repeatable on my rig. (previous bios was F8X for extreme)
EDIT2: bios settings were 100% identical ofcourse between the two versions, maybe the addition of those 2 new settings made the difference?
So thumbs up from me![]()

I will be getting my board in my Monday and I wanted to know since there are 2 BIOS chips on this board, can you Flash one BIOS, your main, with one revision of the Beta BIOS and then Flash the 2nd, or back up BIOS with an official Gigabyte BIOS? Or do I have the idea of the 2 BIOS wrong? Does it mean just 2 types of settings?
So far everything is A OKF8D Rolling fine here, And i didnt really beleive, BUT the new AHCI gave me Slightly better results...like a 0.5ms in acces, and 3MB more in buffered hehe
STILL its something right
something happend heh.
Now this Interleave thing? what is that? new thing to play with?
I realized one thing right now, before 210 bckl was more or less impossible to get anywhere except from post...so Like with any new bios i still hoping it is the biosbut so far it hasnt been, so i have more or less given up, and called it...my cpu has its wall, BUT
![]()
tried something new today, and first put all memsettings on auto at first, just to see .. and then vtt at 1.44 (it needs 1.40 stable for CL7 and 1600mhz 3600QPI,4.2Ghz)
and vDDR at 1.68 just in case, reboot, post fine, win logo, BAM, BSOD? ok, WTF?reboot again,(and Geez its fast post
i dont had the time to pres DEL) so boot again, BAM BSOD, now this time pressing DEL like an idiot hehe...
SO Bios, just a hunch, Lower VTT 1.40, lower vDDR 1.64, and now im here typing, no sign of instability ... haha, somehow im allways stuck at more speed more voltage, but NO NOnow its bedtime and im happy, more fiddeling tomorrow :P Be back! (just had to write if off me
)
cheers.
Found this by the way for those who wondered:
Channel Interleave: Higher values divide memory blocks and spread contiguous portions of data across interleaved channels, thereby increasing potential read bandwidth as requests for data can be made to all interleaved channels in an overlapped manner. For benchmarking purposes when using three memory modules, a 4-way interleave may surpass the scoring performance of setting 6-way interleave depending on the benchmark and operating system used (32-bit vs. 64-bit). We did find however that a 6-way interleave was capable of a higher overall BCLK for Super PI 32M than using a 4-way interleave setting (unless of course you run single- or dual-channel and appropriate channel interleaving thus decreasing load upon the memory controller).
Rank Interleave: Interleaves physical ranks of memory so that a rank can be accessed while another is being refreshed. Performance gains again depend on the benchmark in question. For 24/7 systems using triple-channel memory configurations there is no advantage to setting this value below 4 while Channel Interleave should be left at 6 for best overall system performance.
EDIT: it crashed During Everest memtest hahahanow back, lowered vtt one more notch.. cpu at 4.4 uncore 17x mem 1680.
EDIT2: Now it worked heh.

Ok, I give uphaha, didnt work specially better anyway, just a bit :P this cpu is not any good, Im at 1.37 loaded at 4,2 NO HT.
It just wont go any further without real boost in voltage, about 0.6 more per each 100mhz with no HT, so I'll leave it here, couse the BCLK just want to stay at 200, over that its chaosnothing helped actually, more just BSOD, less just bsod, the best it could do would also bsod, atleast now i've tried.
CL7 higher than 1600 are a no go aswell. and if i go CL8 there is no gain with it if i still leave the cpu at 4,2.. got a quite BUM cpu though, seeing most people with D0 ones
landing 4.4 at 1.36 HT ON , MAN? well, i have tried till my eyes are bleeding and i aint got no hair left hehe.. I gave it a fair shot to prove itself
now i will leave it until i get a D0.
I use the fastest settings that i can on this speed, and is actually fast enough, but the more the merrier right? and it IS fun to fiddle, but now i know i cant fiddle anymore
more luck to you guys.

I only had the voltage up so high as I was pushing the Blck and these are C0 CPU's, I can do 210 with far less voltage, maybe 1.36-1.38 actual I believe.
But yes, above 210 is for sure possible, see my post here as well 231.85

OK!! now Im done hahaa.. I was goin to bed at 6am, but I saw the new bios, so I just HAD to heh..
but ok, 215 did i come upto... was over 1.60vtt and did put cpu at 1.60..
Tried more PCI-E mhz, more voltage to Pci-e tried almost everything.. NADA, only diffrence it made was that before, I couldnt even set 212mhz, it locked, then i started to use ET6 to change voltage in windows, so changed to 1.52, then 212 went, tried bit for bit, then finally 1.60 then it gave me 215, but locked at s-pi.... so NOW IM DONE, this cpu wont go further! Its a gonner!
worst of all? the system just went to endless reboot after a while, it locked up so ofc i rebooted and re-applied the settings time after time, but the last time, it didnt want to be with me anymore, even after 2 cmos , still endless loop on what it entered windows on before, naaah now i had my fun, 4 months since i got this system, now i know :P
just have to test my mem to see what they can do, maybe THEY are the bad ones? the MB? but i believe its the cpu... some are lucky some are not![]()

Wow, why such a high Vtt? Are you running your ram at super high clocks, or super low CAS?
It very well could be your CPU that is limiting you, but at 215 I would think that it is not too likely. I say those thoughts because I actually think the CPU's I have are poor clockers vs voltage. They are pretty volt hungry from what I have seen after I pass 200, 190-200 even seems higher than a lot of C0's out there. I think I need 1.34-1.36 to keep 190-200 stable, and most C0's could do far better, D0 even better of course.
What CPU step and batch do you have anyway? Have you tried with your ram underclocked and loose timings just to be sure? Have you tried with 1-2 sticks?

Naah, havent gone that far though...i want a 24/7 system, even though i LOOVE to play
so all sticks remain in the system, if not working with all then nothing at all!
why high vtt? well, i tried pushing the bclk over 200 and i started actually from 1.36 or so, didnt work over 200 and higher didnt work either...when i were about 1.60 then i got a few mhz more
PCI-E i cant raise more than 103 i think... 104 is blank screen, and i tried raising the voltage to it too.
no im not running high, i tried the same thing you did on the screenie... first CL7, then 8 and 9, and auto same speed, it was in the end when i tried auto it went into endless loop, then i tried setting it back, still loop..then i gave up... yeah i have a rock stable system at 200, but over that i could kiss goodbye
the RAM part are left to rule out, lower cpu multiple and push the ram on 10x instead and lower bclk, and vice versa for the cpu, so still im not done hahabut its not gonna be this hard though, if i cant get it stable, then whats the use? I've cut down on all benchmarks, even though its fun to see other do it

Ya you have to do the mod mentioned above by Hicookie to go above 103 PCIE, but you do not need it to go above 200 Blck. It only allows you to raise PCIE over 103 so you can go above 222Blck easier
I ran 227 or so without the mod, and could easily do 200-220 with no PCIE Change at all, so maybe it is your ram holding you back? I only have two 3x2GB Sets, one Crucial and one Mushkin and have had no issues with either aside from a issue with the Mushkins until a compatible BIOS was made. Hyper IC's were not compatible with past BIOS's very well at all. Can you borrow a set from a friend to test with or have a buddy bring some over for testing? Hate to see you go buy new ram when you did not need to and the issue was something else

Hi again guys,
I got my mobo back yesterday from Scan, and I proceeded to set it up outside the case to see whether or not it would recognize all of my RAM after the tech at Scan said that he didn't have any problems with the mobo at all..
So I installed my 6GB Dominators and fired it up only to see that it was still only picking up 2 sticks!!
I then removed the Dominator set, and installed my 3GB XMS3 set, again only 2 sticks were picked up, I powered down again, and I gently wiggled the module that was in the first white slot (nearest the CPU socket) and powered back up again, and voila, all 3 sticks were recognized...
So I shut it down, removed the 3GB set and put the Dominators back in, and they were all recognized to!
Anyway, I started testing with Prime95 Blend, and it ran overnight with the CPU @ stock, and the RAM at 1600MHz...
But if I try O/Cing to 3.2, it will fail Prime sometimes after a couple of hours, and other times it will fail after 10 minutes.. my PC either resets itself, or Prime just starts failing on threads...
I have also tried for 3.8GHz, and 4GHz, but I get the same thing...
I don't have time ATM to fill out all of my BIOS settings as I have to attend a Dr's appointment in a little while, but when I return from that I will fill out the BIOS settings so that you guys can see what I am running my system at...
It would be highly appreciated if someone could help me to find stable settings for my 4GHz O/C...
Here is my system specs:
CPU: D0 Stepping i920
HSF: Zalman CNPS9700NT w/ LGA1366 mounting bracket
RAM: 6GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz C8, I also have a 3GB set of Corsair XMS3 1333MHz which I bought for testing purposes.
MOBO: EX58 UD5
GFX: Asus GTX280
HDD: 3 x SATAII
ODD: 1 x DVD ReWriter
PSU: Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 850w
CASE: Silverstone TJ10-WMV nVidia Edition
I know I don't have the best HSF in the world, but it actually does not to bad of a job keeping my CPU cool, when I tried 4GHz O/C, the idle temps were around 40c, and it would go up to 83c when running Prime95 Blend, I have seen other people with higher temps than this using Titan Fenrir HSF which is supposed to be a decent cooler...
Anyway, when I get back from my Dr's I will fill in the BIOS settings so you guys can get a better idea of where i might be going wrong...
Thanks in advance..
I modded and uploaded the latest beta bios ex58ud5m.F8d for EX58-UD5 here (contains newer Intel RAID ROM v8.8.0.1009):
