Full Tower from the past, they don't make 'em like they used to...

Well, after realizing that I won't be able to fit 2 rads in my Chieftec Mesh case,
so I exchanged it for a vintage full tower one...

    Behold:

    Digg the sliding mobo tray:

    And the sliding top cover:

    All panels off:

    The problem now is:
    my rads still don't fit!!!
(the double rad fits on top perfectly, but I have a hard time figuring out how to fit the tripple one...)

My innitial plan was to arrange the rads something like this:

Maybe you give will have some original thoughts on rad placement...

    Update:
After thinking about it and reading your posts I came up with this:

As You can see the rad does not fit 100% yet, i have to enlarge the hole at the back that I made.

    And another update:
did some more work on the case today:

The tripple rads now fits on top nicely, just needs a bit of work with the mounting brakets.
Cut the hole for the double rad, also need to make some brackets.
Enlarged the PSU hole. Some other misc pieces removed.

that thing is huge! I remember I had a Gateway P2-450 (yes that's 450MHz) that was a monster and not even close to the size of your case.

or if handy.....stretch the long sills making case longer from front to back to allow for rad length and make new side panels
Yep I wanted all internal setup, If this case was longer than it would be awesome, tripple on top double on the bottom.
If I had a MIG welding machine I could go crazy (as in crazy moding) but as it stands lenghtening the case is a no go...

Yep both rads have a bleed ports, but i can always bleed em first and then mount horizontal...

Haha! I thought about doing something like this in that exact same case! I traded the case with a P3 oc'd to 1.2ghz (LOL) for daily running for an empty midtower I needed to do another build in. The reason I decided to dump that case was because I couldn't fit a 2x120 + a 3x120 radiator inside Good luck!

The only way I could come up with was to use a USB dvd drive and put the triple up front and double up top like you have in the diagram. I was thinking of using a MM hdd rack mounted to the back fan over the PSU too if it helps but 2.5" drives would really be the way to go here.

I have one that is similar size. The only problem I have with the old ones are they aren't very deep you can't even fit a triple up top.

Hah! That's not even that big! You should see some of the old AT server cases! I had one that was taller than my MM Pinnacle at one point! Not to mention the weight of all that steel!

I think you could've gotten away with top mounting the triple radiator diagonally, make somekind of shroud and let the fans blow up and out. But whatever works I guess.

Speaking as someone who owns a few of those older cases, they aren't particularly good for WCing. In general, they are really short length wise and have a lot of "dead space" (IE small empty areas that are fairly unusable except for maybe a 120.1). That said, I applaud you if you can come up with a workable arrangement for two 120.3 rads. I gave up and went with a 120.2 on the top instead.

    And another update:

my project stalled a bit, because of some problems at work (working 2 jobs tends to be pretty ty sometimes)

But I have some news for you!

    Completed the radiator brackets:
    120x2:

    120x3:

Spent the whole week thinking how to mount the resevoir.
Today finally had time to do some work:

So, now I have to think how to route the rest of the tubing:

I was thinking along the lines:

But the problem here is that if I route the tubing through the mb i/o plate
I won't be able to use the sliding mobo tray without taking the loop apart
And I want to be able to slide out the mobo tray...

I'm having a hard time thinking of a way to pull this off, so I was hoping you guys could rescue me

Ok thanks, just read a couple of threads about quick disconnects.
And I'm afraid I can't go that route as it would add too much restriction to my loop (and my pump isn't that powerfull to begin with)

Yes thats silver. Ebay. Thanks! I would also like to stuff as much rad as possible in there, but I'm affraid the PSU leaves little to no room for another rad. Thanks again, I will sure try to do my best!

You could have been fitting two 360-rads there easily!! by just turning them 90° putting them side by side, so it pushes in on the left side of the case and pushes out und the right side...so something like a "super-sandwich" above the PSU ^^

Great idea! But after a quick test fit I could only fit a 240 sandwich 90° in there without destroing the case, still better than one 360 rad possibly, but I'm too far into my design to make such drastic changes

Thanks, you can still do that "sandwich", but you you'd need to cut away nearly half of the top part of the case

Or you stack two triples above each other? Maybe that works? I don't have any tests in my mind testing these different setups...or maybe you can add 6 fans to the triple?
