With 333 and 2.0B, you'll have to change it to 9 or 10. It wouldn't boot on my rig my rig either if I left it at 8.
With 333 strap and 2.40B, I can change the option to 8 and it will boot with no problems.
I totally forgot to try higher PL.
Will retry now. Thanks for the quick reply.

I would say the voltage is safe and i am sure the temps are OK since Intel burntest does make cpu`s allot hotter then they would under any normal pc use.

Maybe you should consider upgrading your cpu cooler?

i have a thermalright extreme 120 with silenx 120mm fan the 90cfm one on a fan controller on low becuse it doesnt make much difference on high
i have been running prime (small fft's) for about 30mins to get a rugh idea and the fan on low it goes to 60c on high its goes to 58c.
2c is not much concidering the difference in speed of the fan if you know what i meen
can you recomend any fans what ARE better thats not to noisy
    thanks for the reply

    What temp is your room?
What thermal paste are you using?
I am sure your temps should be lower, Also how are you measuring your temps?

I got slight problem here. I got e6320 and ud3p. I am able to hit 470 with a 1 .35 - .37 vcore stable. Everything over 470 with no mather what vcore it doesnt post. 471 no and so forth. I did try using set fsb in windows and put 1.5 and 1.55 vcorein bios and rise my nb vcore but as soon as I apply for 471 in crashes.

    Any ides?

TRUE 120 .. needs lapping ... the base is verry bad usually. also works best with two fan's with high rpm ...

if u wan't sillence and performance then Cooler Master Z600 or Scythe Mugen 2 is the way ... Scythe has the best base of the two coolers so the contact is verry good. Z600 is verry good also has bigger surface for heat disipation.

Sorry i missed your reply. I am currently on F9 final release bios now.

i have managed to get 400 and 2.00D to boot with pl of 9 and 10(currently testing 10 only) but i cant get prime 95 to run for more then 4 minutes before one thread fails.
I have been messing with different MCH voltages and MCH/DRAM References.
I have found that 1.36 NB to be the best so far (any higher and it still crashes at the same point)

What else can i change to try help stabilize my ram?
I have taken 1 Pair of ram out so i think i am definitely missing something here.

the best is TRUE120 extreme ... but only after u lapp the base (it is quite a lot of work to do and only if u use two high rpm fans with good static presure in push pull) ... after that Mugen 2 (no need for lap and good fixing system) ... and then verry close comes z600 .
I now have a Mugen 2 on my CPU and before that I had a true 120 ultra but didn't wanted to lapp after finding it only works best with high rpm fans (I still have it ... sits in my Mugen 2 BOX waitting for a new owner). I tested also Z600 but it cooled badder than Mugen 2 with about 4-5 degrees C and is verry big and heavy :| ... one thing I didn't liked about it.
Mugen 2 is really nice. Cools much better than TRUE120 unlapped and the contact with the IHS of the processor is great. The difference between MUGEN2 default base and TRUE120 unlapped with the same Noctua 1200RPM was for me of about 10 degrees in favor of the Mugen2.

Put on top of that the fact that comes with it's own fan Schyte @1200 RPM (fairly sillent) and also includes LGA 1336 retention kit + the best price between the three of these coolers and I think u found yourself the best cpu cooler :P

(Z600 comes without a fan but newer ones come with lga1336 retention)

I say go for the Mugen 2 if u want strong performance and silence or lapp that TRUE and get 2 high rpm fans if u wannt best cooling performance.

Edit: Another worth to mention cooler would be Megahalems (that is known now like "the TRUE killer" but has a verry big price and it's hard to find for the moment).
Myself ... I'm verry satisfied with my Mugen2 with 2 NOCTUA 1200rpm cooler in push-pull configuration. Keeps my E8400 1.25vid E0 @ 4500 1.39375V in bios (1.36 @ LOAD) under 65C (arround 62-63C) and that's in a room without air conditioner. (But the case is an Antec 1200 ... so airflow is also verry good).

PS : sorry for my bad english ... I'm from Romania.

ok thanks for that but i think i might just not bother overclocking since it shows no benifit so far in games
but if you dont mind can you tell me where i can get the things i need to lap my cpu cooler as i dont know what to use or were to get it
    THANK YOU

Set in bios cpu termination 1.2, CPU ref between 0,800 - 0850 (from what i've read so far this is what quad's like), Mch core 1.36 should be right, MCH reference set it at 0.700 and then set cpu termination back @ 1.38. CPU reference and mch reference will scale automatically with the cpu termination.
Try this and tell us how it goes.

    Also in Advanced Settings:
Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]
    C2/C2E State Support....................: [Disabled]

I'm sure on the cooling section u can find a thread about lapping. I'm not in the measure to give this kind of advice. I didn't wanted to lapp. Search for a thread of this kind and read. It will give u more info and help than I would be able to.

Going to sleep now.. must go to work after about 7 hours from now .
    Hope my advices will help.

TO BE HONNEST IF ITS GAMING YOU DO THEN SEE WHAT FRAMES PER SECOND YOUR GETTING AND TRY AGAING WITH A KNOWN OVERCLOCK AND SEE IF YOUR GETTING MORE FPS IF NOT (IS IT WORTH IT) sorry for caps lock
i have a q9450 normally 2.66ghz and a gtx 280 no oc and i get about 60fps in fallout 3 even if i push the cpu to 3.5ghz i dont get any more frames i dont get it but now i just dont see the piont in overclocking since i dont convert or edit things that need lots of cpu power

    sorry if i didnt help
as i say im new to overclocking bur i think is braggin rights more than enything

what cpu have you got is it one of thous i7 cpus and whats the stock speed
i know most peapole say 600-800mhz oc is about the best you can do without overvolting but i know most peapole go for 1ghz overclock and some times i see 1.5ghz overclock just depends on what type ov volts you willing to pit true tour cpu i sopose

He is on a quad not a dual core. Doubt he will get stable setting the mch ref to .70. Also .80-.85 CPU ref is to high to start out, with a defualt VTT of 1.20v

    Almost stable

Thanks again to Hoss331 , system has even stabled a lil bit more and ive been able to pass prime95 small FFt's for 14hours , meaning im guessing that my q9650 is stable at its current voltages which under load its hitting about 60c seems a bit warm for wc but im fine with it now , next step tomorrow im blend see if the memory will hold up with new settings
