Took the 8400 out, back at it again with the q9650. Can get 500fsb stable on 3 45nm quads but still have to use 1000/1000/0/50 skew. Props to all you guys that were able to with 800/900/0/0. 1hr Prime blend so far, going to let it run overnight. Was able to do this with my q9550 with less vcore.

Nice one.Could you post your bios settings or maybe an ET6 Screen shot so i can see what you needed to run that?

I have flashed my bios back to F9 and i am still struggling to stabilize my ram.

    Thanks

Any suggestion on bios for my E8400? Since I'm using LV Blades, I'll want to run 1200+ if possible.

    q9650 oc

Hey guys just switched from a DFI UT P35-T2R a month ago , was a great board but needed so much voltage to push quads , cant wait to hit it with a e5400 later on for my work pc as right now im using a Pentium 2.8 533 which isnt to bad for a work pc
but anyways Ive had this q9650 running at 4.0 ghz I hadn't did a good 8 hour prime 95 till last weekend and seem to keep getting stuck at 7 hours where I don't get errors but the prime program just crashes , I have dual boot with vista 64 and windows 7 both did exact same thing .... so im figuring im running to lite on my voltages or something with memory settings , you guys are doing great with these board lately , maybe take a look at my setting and set me in the right direction .....

I have been playing with "Extreme" setting. It is quite fast but hard to get fsb very high. Maybe easier w/444. PL9 of "Extreme" is faster than PL8 of "Turbo".
I haven't tried "Extreme", have always used "Turbo". So 500fsb is hard with "Xtreme"? Also, to clarify for my own sake..."Extreme" with PL9 is faster than "Turbo" with PL8 ?? Do you have some Everest memory screens you can show? That would be great as I am curious to try "Extreme" mode now! Thanks!!

Ran Prime blend overnight and while I was at work. After 13hrs one core fails, Real Temp opened up on its own and started some sensor test, have had it do that before. I don't get that, will test again with Core Temp and see if it fails again. Should have left Real Temp open for my SS but was so pissed I closed it lol.

Can someone please tell me where i am going wrong.
Here is my Ram blend stable

I know my Cpu is running low but i am just checking for ram stability. The problem is as soon as i try for 450FSB (4.0Ghz) it fails blend on two of the cores almost instantly when running my ram @ the same speed.

    What am i missing?
My ram used to run @ 1066 5-5-5-15 with pl of 7 and it was blend and memtest stable on my old DFI X48 LT.

I have tried taking my NB voltage right up to 1.46 with no effect.
    Is my CPU the problem?
I have also tested with only two stick with the same effect.
If you need more info please tell me what you need.
    Thanks for your time.

It´s rather easy to flash a bios nowadays so if you have F4 it´s a good start but if it doesn´t like your Blades you can go for F9.

I hope you gonna like your UD3P, it can be a bit trick at first until you find the right CPU/MCH GTL ref setup but after that it´s straight forward.

jonathankru: Post a template of all your settings. Try Pl8 not 7 with the 333 240b, or pl9 with the 400 200d, that's the problem I would guess

I have tried pl all the way up to 12 with no luck.
I only had it @ 8 to see if it was stable at lower FSB with low NB voltage.
Would to higher pl be a problem?

Here is prime blend at 333FSB

Here is with 450 FSB and 6 multi , 400Starp and 2.0D. the rest of the settings are the same as template that i posted

I then restarted prime blend and thread #1 failed instantly
I then started prime small FTT`s and it is still going after 10 minutes
    Is my Cpu the problem?
I have booted into windows with this cpu @ 515FSB before if that makes any difference.

You should be able to leave these set to normal for 450x9. Also the Drive Strength Profile at 450x9 can be left to auto. I never needed it until I got up higher on the FSB. You are also trying to OC with 8gb of ram from looking at your sig. You may want to start off trying to get 2x2gb stable first to learn the board. There are some guys that did real well with 8gb, you need to look back in the thread a ways to see their template. You also should not need 1.40v vtt or 1.46v MCH for 4.05ghz, but again IDK with 8gb of ram.

My Cpu loves VTT unfortunately otherwise i have to pour tons of vcore into it to get it to even post @ 4 Ghz. I unfortunately got a Q9650 with a 1.3VID
I will try the settings you suggested and take 4Gigs out.
How do i tell the temp of the NB? Because i changed the standard heatsink for the Thermalright HR05-IFX and my system temp is still the same.

Thanks for all the replies OC Nub , I know i still need to learn what this board likes and dislikes.

If it fails try going up a couple notches on the vcore.
There is no Nb sensor that I am aware of on this board.

EDIT: Sorry missed the 1.3vid part. was going by the template posted -1.15vcore
Also make sure you dont have a profile saved and set to load at startup in ET6. I uninstalled it.

Thanks for the settings. Will try them once i have taken one pair of ram out.
The small FTT`s i started is still running strong so i really think it is a ram problem.

I have only used ET6 to monitor and compare my settings to others. I have also set it not to load automatically because it used almost one cpu on its own just idling.
Will uninstall it now just to make sure.

Sorry i forgot to change that to 1.3V
Will fix the original template that i posted.

So i used your settings which worked really well.
I got into the windows boot options screen and my Vista became corrupt.
Something about missing a winload.exe or something (maybe my RAID is acting up). But i managed to boot into my win xp64 fine. It kept getting stuck in windows so i upped the cpu voltage one notch at a time until it let me into windows properly (Which ended up being 1.4v bios/ 1.36v in windows)

I am now running Prime Blend for 15 minutes without an error yet with all 8Gigs. Which is a great start.

One silly question, how do you change performance level with this board? I don't see it anywhere. I'm on F9 bios. Thanks in advance.

It is in the Channel A Timing Settings & Channel B Timing Settings in the DRAM Performance Control menu
It is called Static tRead Value

Thank you. Just so use to Asus board. Still figuring out whether I like this board or the P5Q-E better. So far the P5Q-E give me higher overclock compare to the UD3P with my Q6600. Need to play around more with the UD3P setting.
