Using FSB Strap to North Bridge 400MHz didn't let me lower my voltages. It just let me run DDR 1199MHz and tRD 6 with the same voltage that I was using with FSB Strap to North Bridge 333MHz and DDR 1081MHz with tRD 7.
I think that there isn't much you can do to have better performance with the hardware that you have available.
I don't know if you live far away from greg.m?
Maybe you can ask him nicely if you could borrow his G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI memory to see if you could run it at DDR 1199MHz and tRD 6.
He seems a nice guy to me and let you do that to see how it runs.
If you can run it stable with DDR 1199MHz and tRD 6 the 2 x 2 Giga OCZ Blade PC2-9600 might be your solution. We need to know of course if this memory can run at 1200MHz without problems on the Maximus/Rampage Formula.
I think that the 2 X 2 Giga OCZ Blade PC2-9600 are going to be a lot cheaper than the G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI.
That's one solution.
The second solution is to sell your QX6700 and buy a Q9XXX but then you would like to know if your board likes to run with a Q9XXX at FSB 450MHz.
If greg.m is really a nice guy he might let you try that too.![]()
