How the heck do you guys get the E8400/E8500 at such high clocks around 4.5 GHZ with less than 1.4 volts?

I need a minimum of 1.432 at 4500mhz on my E0 to even think about getting mine stable. Am I doing it wrong

^^ The inside of your case is most awesome.

Here is mine. Stellar wire management.

for my DDR3 board, as of now, all of Ref. voltages are set to the same values on the left colume in bios,
and yep i've been seeing you guys use 1000/1000/0/50,

my DDR3 board and Q9550 won't boot with any setting at NB clock skew.
and however, my system is not thoroughly tested with program like IBT/LinX yet.

for my E8400's to boot above 600fsb i used to use 900/900 and CPU/NB 200ps/100ps and sometimes i had to try using Dram clock skew.

    and, for anyone's information...
the DDR3 board seems to have problem booting "500FSB strap 333 5:8 DDR3-1600" if you install your ram's on the 2 pink colours slots only,
i have not seen any problem with the green colours one.

I need help for stable overclock my Q9550 C1 on Ep45-UD3R rev.1.1 F9.On my old EP45-DS3P i overclocked to 8.5X471 stable without any problems, but now with EP45-UD3R is impossible.I tryed many combination of settings MCH reference-0.7-0.8, Cpu Ref -0.7-0.8, Cpu Term-1.2 - 1.4, MCH core - 1.2-1.44, 2.0B,2.0D, 2.4B memory dividers, performance level -8, 9, 10, 11 & 2 different kits 2x2 gb G.skill PC-8800 & G.skill PC 8000 without succes.I think that board is very picky or is incompatible with my g.skill or have defect.
Here is my latest settings 12h Prime Small, Large stable, but after testing i play some DivX movie & my PC restart.

Hey guys. I've had problems with this mobo since I got it. I can't get my q6600 over 3.6ghz no matter what I try. I know I can, because my loads at 3.6ghz never exceed 50C (watercooling). So now it's time for me to try again. I've searched for posts with the Q6600 and they didn't seem to help.

    Here are my settings.

    Multi: 9x
    FSB: 400
memory: 960mhz (PC8500 ocz platinum xtc)
    Vcore: 1.5
    Vtt: 1.24
    MCH: 1.18
    Vmem: 2.1

That's all I have changed. My goal is to maybe hit 3.8ghz and memory above 1066 stable.

could someone please guide me on what settings I should change, and how I should go about changing them? On this board I don't know what most of the things do, so I'm just randomly upping voltages here.

It´s a nice board but if we look through the bling, bling and want to OC a quad FSB 500+ and ram 2000MHz+ you have to work hard to make it happen.

Right now I run my Q9650@450 4,05GHz and some 4x1 Corsair Dominator PC14400@1800 777 21 tRD6 Strong, but I had to work a bit to make it stable so far (not stable through P95 blend yet).

It seem like Asus have problem to get quad 500+ and ram 2x2 or 4x2 stable with their boards, I have test Rampage Formula, Rampage Extreme and Maximus II Formula and they all have problem.

So if the EP45T is as good as EP45 it is a better choice in my eyes, look at pangingIII result, looking very good.

    That´s my humble opinion.

Heh, well thanks . Though, I spent most of the time trying to get the back panel case door closed, due to not having a modular PSU. You don't wanna see what that looks like .

Nice OC though. Currently running at 4.250 Ghz at 1.328v and it's pretty stable, though 3dmark vantage froze up after the CPU test, but other than that it's been stable for a week or two in every other game. Judging from the settings you use I guess I might need a notch of PLL, vMCH and some more CPU/MCH reference tweaking to get as low of a vcore as possible. I'm not using clock skews at 4.25 Ghz but I'm not sure if it needs them at 4.5ghz. Heck, I should be fine with air cooling since temps have only hit 60c with IBT

thanks for the response.the UD3P ddr3 is on the because of pangingIII's results.but i'll be using a dual core so thats why i might get the RE.i hear it great with a dual.

    but i use 800/900/0/0 for 500fsb, above 500 to 525fsb 900/900/0/0,
i did try 1000/1000/0/0 for my 530x8.5 but later on i changed back to use 900/900/0/0.
my DDR3 board and Q9550 won't boot with any setting at NB clock skew.
and however, my system is not thoroughly tested with program like IBT/LinX yet.

for my E8400's to boot above 600fsb i used to use 900/900 and CPU/NB 200ps/100ps and sometimes i had to try using Dram clock skew.

    and, for anyone's information...
the DDR3 board seems to have problem booting "500FSB strap 333 5:8 DDR3-1600" if you install your ram's on the 2 pink colours slots only,
i have not seen any problem with the green colours one.
(no problem with anything above or below 500FSB, no problem with 500FSB strap 333 1:2 DDR3-2000 nor any other straps)
Couldn't get into Windows at 900/900/0/0 with all other voltages the same as I had been using. 900/900/0/50 booted right up and all seems fine, will run Prime tonight to be sure.

if anyone interested, this's how my bios (voltage section) is done.
i've been using this method with most of my overclocks since i use DDR2 version of the board (EP45-UD3R)

i hope i didn't make any mistake on the picture.

as for my E8400's, i used to adjust MCH ref. (NB GTL_ref.) values as follow....
    400-450fsb.... 0.74
    467fsb up.... 0.72
    480fsb up.... 0.70
    500fsb up.... 0.70, 0.68
    600fsb.... 0.65/0.64

    hope this helps.

    Hi Ghostleader, thanks.
DDR3 one is very similar to the DDR2 one, i just need to spend some time with it, and most important, seems to be, to find ram kits that can work well with the board, and if you already have a good overclocking CPU, then i would say you cant really go wrong with these boards. these boards (UD3P/R's, both DDR2 and DDR3 versions) are probably not the best boards for every needs, but so far to me, they are quite good boards. this's an opinion from just another user.

Yeah I have the DDR2 version which runs my Q9550 @ 4G no sweat. I have the DDR3 version on the way for some cold action and will be testing the max. FSB under LN2.

Finally after several hrs. of Pi, I was able to get under 10.09.000. I did need to raise vcore but was able to lower MCH. Also ran PCI-e freq. @101. Idk if that mattered. I tried for a long time to do lower vcore, but that was not happening.

    Question

Has anyone with a E8400 & UD3P combo had trouble getting over 449FSB?

I can run 449x9 all day long (I have a TrUE on order to reduce temps further) but 450FSB eludes me so far.

what CPU voltage, MCH voltage and cpu skew's u used? for 600fsb?

can u post a template of one of your stable E8400 600FSB overclock? that would help a lot to me

what kind of stable overclocks are you expecting to get at 600fsb?
reason i ask because i never do much at high fsb.

    I'm currently at 4500 9x500 with 1.39375 cpu, 1.32 cpu term, 1.57 pll, 1.34 mhc, 0.68mhc ref.
I think about 4200MHZ would be fine(600x7). Getting to 4500mhz (600x7.5) I believe it would require too much voltage increment and it's not worth the trouble.

What voltages/settings do u suggest I should try?
Well not sure if I'm going to take 600fsb for daily use ... but more for the fun of seeing what my cpu is able to do.

    EDIT : system specs are: EP45-UD3P, E8400 E0 vid 1.25 under Scythe Mugen 2, 2GB(2x1) Patriot Viper 1200mhz (Elpyda chips no d9 for me),Leadtek GTX 260 896MB, Cooler Master Real Power 700W, Antec 1200
