I would stick with the ref's you used for a lower stable oc and raise your VTT a notch or 2 to see if it helps. I'm not sure about C2D's, but on the C2Q, I only needed 1.3.

As for the MCH/DRAM ref, you may want to try 1.08, jo3r mentioned that it should be 1 notch above 1/2 of vdram.

506x8.5 stable template (didn't try lowering the volts) for my q9650 is:

Okay, I will try upping the VTT and changing mch/dram reference. That's what I'm hoping the problem is. Thanks for the help

Well I don't think VTT is an issue. I can boot at 1.2 VTT into windows, and I tried a higher MCH/Dram reference and got a bsod at the loading bar, any lower doesn't yield better. MCH core voltage has been up to 1.38, but it's MCH reference that seems to be what dictates how stable it is, and all the voltages i've tried eather will cause blend to error or a bsod. Heck, even my ram that's rated at 2.1 volts is running at 1.8 so i don't think its ram. Maybe some clock skews might be able to help, but I haven't got a clue how to use them properly

Under advanced clock control I need 1000/1000/0/50 for stability at 500fsb. Is this unsafe for 24/7 use?

I think I'm getting somewhere, I bumped MCH up to 1.36 and have stopped some of the bsods, i'm just dealing with errors now. I'll keep updating

I'm currently using bios ud3p 1.1 f7, does bios f9 improve oc ability or any improvements?

Just got the board - Looking for suggestions!!

Just go this board and so far I LOVE it!!

I had a DFI P35 board prior and was having a VERY difficult job overclocking my new Q9550 - So I did some research and decided to pair up the Quad with this board and it's going great so far!!

Looking to hit at least 4ghz, so any input on what to change to get there is greatly appreciated!!

Here is what I have stable so far -

I hit a max core temp of 71C; I know it's a bit high(right at the thermal limit ) but, I'm not too worried about it right now - Just reset the heatsink and the AS hasn't had time to fully set yet - I also have a nozzle kit for my DTEK I need to install yet for the quad; it has the nozzle for the dual core right now and the 'center' cores (2 & 3) didn't get above 67c....so I hope the nozzle kit will even out the temps a little between all four cores

Set your PCI Exe Freq to 100 and the CPU PLL to 1.50 for starters.

Update: I think the problem is vcore. Running at 1.248 4GHZ and blend hasn't bsoded or failed vs the 1.232 I was running at previously. Woohoo...

My next goal is 4500 mhz but I'm going to lap the heatsink and processor first. Hopefully my AC7 Pro can take it (load temps are 45C at 4ghz so I shouldn't need to worry)

    Damn nice Panging

Radaja, can you tell me if you needed to set the subtimings on the G.skill 9600? If so, what were your values on the UD3P at 500+ fsb?

Edit-i cant seem to find the g.skill pc9600 thread in the xtreme bandwidth section anymore
but using search i found the thread, maybe this can help too

Actually already did that, forgot to change it when I was filling out the template
    Thanks though!!

I did manage to get it to 4.0ghz stable, I think? Have only had a chance to run prime for an hour so far, and ran OCCT3 for two hours; am going to run prime over night tonight and try for at least 8-9hours and see how it goes. Here are the new settings - now to go for 4.2ghz

Edit-i cant seem to find the g.skill pc9600 thread in the xtreme bandwidth section anymore
but using search i found the thread, maybe this can help too

    hope these help.
good luck and keep us posted
Thanks Rad. I have a weird issue, whenever I run prime95 and linx together, the system will reboot (no errors, no bsod) and go into the bootloop within a few minutes. I've tried a ton of GTL (default, +1, +2, +3) combos and vmch from 1.35-1.44. This is running at 506x8.5 with 2.40b. Any ideas?

Btw, what is Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) for?

Was able to reach 4.25ghz 500x8.5 on the q9550-f9 but I never tried f7 with the same settings so may have done just as well. I like it, seems to be good but not positive that its better. Only bios I really had any trouble with was the f8, was not stable with the same voltages.

it sets the timings from the sticks themselve's i think?
    spd something.like my g.skill pc8800's profile 1 would set
the timing to 6-7-7-18 or something like that.
i always disabled it.sorry i dont know too much about exactly
    what it is and does.
and ive never run prime95 and linx together at the same time.
i would think that this would be just too much stress on the system.
heck i only use linx for 10-15 runs max.and prime blend for 3-4 hrs.
i dont see why the system needs to be stressed for days and linx 50+ runs
but thats just me.i know alot of other people will tell you my system
isnt stable.but it was stable enough for me

    Help to optimize: e8500 UD3P

    Hello All,

I posted a few days ago but didn't get a respose.

    Here is my system:
    BIOS: F9
    GA-EP45-UD3P rev 1.0

    E8500 E0 Stepping @ 4.105GHz 1.40625v
    PC2-8800 RAM 5-5-5-15 @ 1159MHz

I am trying to optimize my O/C, but if I try to lower my vCore I get a BSOD. Below is my Template:

I idle around 35degC with an internal case temp of 24degC.

The peak I have seen is ~71ish degC during Intel BurnIn test (linpack) and only about ~64-65degC with Prime95 Small FFT.

Can you help me to get a cooler running chip?

    Thanks,
    -Jsunn
