Hi,
I've got a pretty unspecific problem here and was wondering if anybody else encountered it.
My Corsair XMS-3 RAMs are rated at 9-9-9-24-2T/1.8V at 1600, but I am getting sudden reboots or system hangs at 1600. 1200 works fine with very tight timings and 1T. The only oddity about my setup is that I am using 4 modules in a triple channel configuration in sockets A1,A2,B2 and C2.
Any suggestions? This is an issue that might take weeks to troubleshoot if there's not a genius here that had it before. ^.^
I just got a P6T non-deluxe and there's something strange about the bios: In the manual it shows Intel SpeedStep (aka EIST) under "Ai tweaker" right below 'CPU ratio'. When I go into bios on my board, both EIST and Turbo mode are missing, 'DRAM frequency" is right below CPU ratio. This is true with both the shipping bios, and 0502 bios which is the latest on the ASUS site.
So there's no way I can have EIST which for me is a total deal breaker. But otherwise, the board is a keeper. So my question is,
is the manual wrong, or is my board wrong? If the P6T , by design, does not allow EIST, then I must send this board back. Can someone with a P6T tell me if EIST and Turbo mode are present in their bios?

I have switched to another mobo for now, so I can't easily go back and check to see if these suggestions work. I know that often one must set a variable to a certain state to enable another variable. However, you will still see the second variable, it will just be greyed out. In this case, EIST and turbo mode are simply not there, not merely there but greyed out. Also, I would have enabled every power thing, including C1E and all C states, and looked to see if EIST and turbo suddenly appeared, but no, they were missing in action. OTOH, I don't see how a defect could cause them to disappear, so I'm at a total loss. Without being able to check anything, there's no point in pursuing this until I go back to the P6T. So if anyone has a P6T non-deluxe, please see if you have EIST and tubo under the CPU ratio entry.
WOW!!!! Got my system together useing this settup for now http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...&postcount=469
the only setting me worried on is
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.35V (cause its in RED)
I mean this i7 Smokes Fast

I successfully flashed my V2 to a V1 BIOS last night and I'm much happier with this board now. With the 1403 BIOS and manually setting the 21x multi I was able to drop my vcore and vtt .025v for the same settings, which makes me much happier.
Thanks for the guys who came up with the steps and for all the info, I'm in love with this board again![]()

Is anyone using Xeon W3520 (Rev D0) on this board ?
I own the Deluxe V1, flashed to newest bios (1403) with my old i7 920 und popped in the xeon.
My problem is that i have no uncore and qpi settings anymore and only two mem multipliers.
So what now ? Normal behaviour because of the xeon or go back to bios 1303 ?

No I haven't yet. I thought of it, certainly, but it's no long term solution to run my box on only 3 GB. Sure, it's a way to test and see... I'll do that sometime soon.
As for the uncore voltage, it is set to 1.375V.
I was experimenting a bit with the good old clock skews. It gives a bit more stability and reduced the crash frequency to maybe every 6-13 hours. Those crashes however often happen when starting Prime 95 after having run a couple passes of LinX and a few hours of Secondlife.
In the worst case I'll run my four modules at 1200. Never trade memory capacity for speed.![]()

The CPU multi was set to 20 when I first booted up, and there is no way to set it to 'auto', you can only type in a number. However, I finally figured out how to do it. I loaded ' default settings' and only then did the EIST and Turbo lines appear. Then I set everything to the values I wanted, and still these two entries remained. So eventually I wound up with every setting just as I origianlly had it, only this time I had EIST and turbo. The bad news is that all my efforts were in vain cause in the end, EIST is broken on this board. With EIST set in bios, I see the CPU multi vary with load fron 12x to 21x just as it should, so I know the board is recognizing that EIST is enabled . But Vcore sits there always at the value I set in bios, doesn't drop by 15% or so when multi drops to 12x. And this is the case regardless of Bclk, so it isn't the deal where a feature works only if you downclock the CPU, as with Giga working only up to 139 Bclk. Other boards do EIST up to any Bclk, any voltage so this is a design flaw with the board.

I may not have had it on "auto", but I had all the same values that are set by the bios when it is on auto. I know that I set Bclk to 133. Could you try loading default values, then do nothing other than enabling Ai clocking (don't change any settings)?
THere's no logical/technical reason why voltage or anything else should affect EIST, especially when all parameters are the same when Ai is enabled as when it isn't. If EIST breaks by merely changing from normal to AI enabled, then this is still another design flaw.
Hey all new here and I got a question ,I just bought a p6t deluxe v2 and the bios was already updated to 0302 ..that seems odd cause i don't think these MB come with the 0302 bios pre installed .Did any1 here receive there MB with bios 0302 pre installed already ?
because i think i just bought some1 Else's return ..thanks
You keep talking about design flaws, this is a bios issue that is only an issue with overclocking.
You have this board yourself you should be able to make all these changes yourself to experiment with cause and effect, it is much more useful than looking at my screen shots. If you set a value that means you're making that value static/set, auto mean's it will be controlled by the predetermined auto parameters/tables.
EDIT: Just for the sake of it I set the bclock to 150 and EIST still works fine with reducing both the multiplier and the vcore. I would imagine the vcore adjustment no longer adjusts once the point is reached that "auto" determines it needs to actually increase the vcore value due to clock speed.
At any rate here it is "working" on "auto":

Another successful crossflash from V2 0302 to V1 1403 here too, before the flash my C0 get BSOD at 3.80Ghz (20 x190) @1.35v after about 3 seconds of LinX, upping the vcore only increased heat and still BSOD in few seconds of LinX. After the crossflash I'm now able to get 20 passes of LinX at 3.80Ghz (21x181) @1.35v, couple degree cooler to boot. I'm liking this new BIOS on V2 board so far, can't wait to receive my D0 chip on this Friday.Kudo to those who were brave enough to try the crossflash first and the positive result gave me confidence to do it on mine....LOL
by the way, generally how high of a bclk can you push these P6T Deluxe V2/V1 mobo? will they do 220 with a good D0 chip?
