Yeah going to be a little bit. It's okay the twitches are not that crazy yet...

Should have a list of the fans being tested so we can have a betting pool going on.

I'll get there, eventually, but I'm not thermal testing anymore...I gave that up, it takes too long, and I don't have the patience...

Here is the LED version of the Yate Loon D12SL12 fan, they are speced out at 1200RPM, but just like the other yates. I'm giving yate loon fans the official "Over RPM achiver award"..they seem to turn a fair amount higher than the specification.

It is a slower speed turning fan, running around 1350RPM.

I havn't quite figured out why, the per RPM it didn't perform as well as the straight version and they look the same...perhaps that smoother surface isn't always a good thing or perhaps they are a slightly different angle...not sure.

I used to like LED when I first started getting into things, but not so much these days. It's a nice looking fan though, and an excellent value similar to the other yates.

See the OP for the summary chart, it does ok, but not as well per RPM as the other yates.

i love the summary...hmmm higher rpm seems to yield better cfm thru the rad.... i like the evolution of the testing

Now, how about a cfm per 1000RPM normalized...give me a minute.

OK, here is CFM per RPM on the heatercore....Not sure what this tells me exactly but the curved yate,San Ace, and XL-2 are on top.

I'm guessing since the XL-1 is likely the same fan blade as the XL-2, this is just showing how fan efficiency per RPM drops off with lower RPMs as well..

It's a bit of a toss up actually as you move up the chain. I think the Slip-stream is performing strongest per RPM for the lower to medium high speed, then it's between the San Ace and Koolance 38mm on the ultra high. The high speed Ulra Kaze also does much better than the 1000 speed version which I don't quite understand.

In the end, I'm thinking it's probably not worth putting too much weight into the whole CFM per RPM. I'm still pretty intrigued by the slip-stream, but I'm completely unsatisfied with all of the 38mm fans regarding their inability to undervolt without motor noise issues. Even the San Ace creates a motor click at low voltages that doesn't seem to be nearly as problematic with the 25mm fans.

Yeah, not buy a bunch though, pretty close overall.

Noise...not sure. The Koolance has more of a straight blade which may make less noise. Both make way too much noise for my liking.

The top end has not yet been complete though. I still have the Panaflo Ultra High you sent and a Delta AFB1212SHE I suspect will be king of the noise makers..

Skinnee's sending me an RS120 to start the noise testing on, so it won't be too long before I can start in the the noise/video recordings. Not quite sure what I'll be able to measure or conclude from the next round, but I'll at least get some recordings so you can listen to sound tones for yourselves.

its uber quiet dude, its nice you tested the GTs

but yeah at the back i'll be using the koolance,, i already have 8, i'll use them in winter benching

Very nice

, I do like the tone the GT's produce. Not sure there's a huge noise level difference, but there's definately a tone difference which is more pleasing than the typical 7 blade fan chop.

Generally the more fans I've tested, the harder it's become to pick favorites...hopefully that gets better and not worse with the noise testing.

Awesome setup...I'm always enjoy quad rads too.

Nice work Martin. All of us over-engineering xtreme cooling types would have much less to obsess about without out you.

Now when your done with your current backlog let us know. I would like to contribute a 120x120x72 Delta to your testing along with a few other Deltas.

I'll try to work in the last few fans I have on had for this round of testing, then I'll probably take a break from this for a while to spend time on an engine rebuild I've started working on.
