More & more very expensive, quickly obsolete parts!!
Quick question, and I might just be overlooking something simple.
I've just now started messing with the BIOS settings...but in Windows my CPU and MEM clocks keep moving up and down; they aren't holding a constant 2.66Ghz/800mhz. I have Turbo mode turned off. What exactly do I need to fix this?

if you are talking about the regular EVGA board I just spent the last 3 1/2 weeks playing with it. I have only had my Bloodrage 3 days but it is a lot easier to work with when you are overclocking and are constantly rebooting. My EVGA board required a complete shutoff and cmos clear if I set something in the bios it did not like. Also I seem to be getting the same 4.2 oc at a lower vcore with the Bloodrage. As for the EVGA it did run my Kingston 3x2gb ddr3-2000 at it rated specs and beyond. I have not tried the latest beta bios on the bloodrage yet so maybe that will help with my ram. both are good boards but for me the EVGA was too finicky for my tastes.
I haven't flashed to a new bios yet either. I should probably do that.
What's the newest/best BR bios?

woot my BR is finally here, just waiting on my TRUE and an OS (cant seem to get w7 to install from my usb drive).
Lots of good info here guys thank you it will be put to good use!!!
Any news on a fix for the 965 multiplier issue?I havent heard anything from support in a few days.

1 Dear xxxxxxxxx
Thanks for supporting Foxconn product .
That should be caused by EIST function of your CPU.
EIST dynamically adjust
processor voltage and core frequency/multipplier, which can result in decreased average power
consumption and decreased average heat production.
If the loading is low, the CPU would decreased frequency/multipplier .
Best regards,
Foxconn Technical Support I have eist disabled in bios and have monitored under load .The cpu stays at 24 no matter what. This does not happen with p03 bios but I have cold boot issues with it.I am also watercooling and have a very cool cpu. 2009/03/09 16:21

I got a weird problem. everytime when i boot from a cold start(pc power off for some hrs), the bio give me a "warning Overclocking occured, system running in safe mode". after this i need go into bio, exit, restart and everything will work fine with prime stable etc. this happen only when power on from cold, if i reboot when its hot, its fine. any opinions on this issue??
Sorry if I didn't see this mentioned in this thread, but does the BR's NB water block have 1/2" or 3/8" barbs? And if they're 1/2", could they be easily swapped for 3/8" barbs? I ask because my current water cooling setup is using 3/8" tubing throughout. Thanks.![]()
I'm getting a few issues too.
-After putting the computer to sleep, I can't get Windows back. Everything powers on like it's waking up, but my screen is black.
-On reboot, my Vdimm always goes from 1.6v to 1.85v. Have to manually reset in BIOS and save again.
-In Windows, CPU clock and volts, as well as mem clocks get throttled down. Not a big deal, but I notice a big difference in performance when just messing around.
Only changes in BIOS are:
-CPU Turbo off
-System Turbo on
-Mem multi 12x
-QPI multi 24x
-CxE disabled
-S1 resume

Havent had a EVGA x58 .When I saw all the problems people were having at launch it scared me away.I have owned all of their socket 775 high end boards though.I was going to buy a classified but changed my mind.I love the bloodrage. There are a few bios bugs here and there but they are getting worked out.Its nice having 2 bios chips.I use one bios for overclocking and the other one for normal use.

Ok, so I am having a hard time deciphering the voltages for the BR. Can some one list their voltages for these when overclocked:
IOH VCCA 1.5 setting
IOH VCCA 1.1 setting
SB voltage setting
IOH Core setting
I had no problem doing 200x19 on my EVGA, but I cannot seem to hit even 175x19. Also, anyone notice the up shoot in voltage from what you set in the bios for vcore? I set mine at 1.425 and in windows it was over 1.5v and that was with vdroop compensation enabled.
Thanks

I had the same issue with my Dimm voltage, I thought it was the bios misreading the XMP profile. Also check your mem multi and uncore multi. WHenever my voltage got changed so did those two items. The throttling could be caused by the Aegis panel software, check task manager and see if you have "overclocking.exe" or "overclock.exe" running, that was causing me all types of grief. I believe they are tied to Aegis.

Hey guys take a look at saaya's overclocking thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=205688

Thanks for the link, although I am actually following this one:

I have found that reading as much as possible and combing the information seems to work the best. Anyway, I have gotten back up to 200x19 on my chip and I am currently doing it with less voltage. Still stress testing, so until that's done, it isn't stable, but so far so good. One thing I did find unusual, the higher I pushed the BCLK, the lower some of my memory timings would be. For example at 160, which put my memory at 1604, my timings were auto set to 7-7-7-20-1T, at 200, timings auto set at 8-8-8-19-1T, not sure what the trc is at. Anyway, just found that odd, especially for auto and being at the same speed.

Got mine up and running today. The Corsair power supply I was going to use in this thing is making noises... sounds like an old radiator or something heh. Think I'm going to have to RMA that which means no water cooling and stock cooling on this thing for a couple weeks at leastOh well, now I can concentrate on playing with my new Vertex.

Alright, flashed a new bios, 8A1F1P06, and after talking to a friend I finally got my system stable (I think). Quick P95 run and everything was good for about 10 minutes, then I stopped the test.
This is about as high as I want to go. Real Temp was getting into the high 70's so I didn't want to push it any further.

What vcore were you running for that? You know that the chip can get into the 80's, even 90's before any issues, right? Also, P95 is not going to represent 24/7 temps unless you are folding. I would push it further personally.

getting close to ddr3-2000 with my mem. up to 977 mhz and195 bclk ran memtest all night no errors. If I raise bclk by 1 it wont boot. I tried upping vtt, ioh even sb to no avail. I am so close just need a little more.
Newegg has 59 left in stock (just got mine): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186163
Looks like the availability issues are disappearing.![]()
Im starting to wonder whether anyone got a reasonable high Blck with BR? Ive thus far only seen one 215Mhz Blck, unsure whether it's stable.
I got 210 almost stable but it required so much extra Volts I couldnt really justify that![]()
