I've recently bought a Q6600 G0 in ebay , it's a L727A749 (Aug-07) with 1.30V VID, to replace my E6600@3600. i'm not changing the mobo though, it's a Gigabute P965-DS3P rev 2.0. I've read that P35 is a better chipset for OC'ing this quads but I'm going to give it a try and I'd like to know if someone has achieved significant results with a P965 chipset and Kentdales. I've searched the forums but with little success.
So far I haven't done much testing but it's sitting at 3.2GHz with 1.280V in cpu-z (1.32V BIOS). Temperature is ~34ºC idle and ~43ºC load at (9x356) which is about 4 degrees hotter that at the stock 9x266. So far the temps haven't risen much but I'm aware that Vcore is the main contributor to heat dissipation and it's still quite low. When it gets to higher values I'll write my findings in this issue of Temps vs VID.
Another question: the E6600 wouldn't go further than 3600MHz no matter what so I put it in 8x450; do you think that it's gonna be harder for the mobo to achieve 450FSB with the quad compared to the dual core? Supossing the cpu itself reaches 9x400 without much pain.
