what does that have to do with how well this product will sell?
their problem is that the 4870x2 is almost outdated, with RV790 around the corner.
1. i don't have any charts to prove the sales of the GTX295 being higher than the 4870x2 since the GTX295's arrival, but i'm very confident it would be.(not overall sales) also, whose going to be buying a brand new HD4870x2 now, with RV790 right around the quarter and undoubtedly another x2 solution. my point is the product is late, they failed to create the product during the peak of demand which is why this is a "bad" product.(not performance, but badly marketed and timed)
2. that 15% of what people?... if of people using aftermarket heatsinks i can assure you there are more aftermarket watercoolers than aftermarket air coolers on a high end card like the 4870x2... there are obviously far more designs for aftermarket watercooling on the 4870x2 than aftermarket aircooling, supply & demand again.![]()

I'll be snapping up a pair of these. Undoubtedly, a large number of 4870x2 owners will be doing the same.

I want one.
Possibly (likely) that it works with the stock frontplate (or could be made to with a dremel!). Then you can leave the ram/vrm plate in place.
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
1. Yours arguments are very bad and prove nothing. Why the fact that RV790 is around the corner impacted 4870X2 sales but not 295GTX sales?
And what is this "they failed to create the product durint the peak of the demand"? WTF! 4870X2 was at the top alone during like 6 months. You are only convincing yourself with your "badly oriented" argumentation
2. Mystical argumentation again.... In this thread alone how many people are interested by this product? 4870X2 cooler less worse than you than think. Quiet at idle is sufficient for most of us.
If I still had my 4870X2, I would so get one.
Stock cooler is great but only great when you have to turn it up, then it becomes too loud.

Sure yes but Artic Cooling are always late...
280GTX cooler has just been released!
You must be kidding. Do you have an idea about how hot these cards are, especially if you play games like crysis?
My 4870X2 can barely OC (810/925MHz with the fan set to 65% else it freezes) and is hot like hell. If I increase the voltage the card will start melting.
My GTX 295 runs cooler and quieter even it has the GPUs overvolted to 1.17v and OC-ed to 702/1620/1215.
So if you run at stock the 4870X2 has higher performance/price ATM. But once you OC and push to the limit while maintain stability, the GTX 295 is more worth the money.
Anyway I might try this new Accelero cooler if it's really good like the articles of this thread claim.
The card is hot because the cooler let them get hot. Cranked up cooler speed but it become very loud. So like I say effective but loud.
295GTX is quieter than 4870X2 but as hot in charge.
Framebuffer limit the card is certains games and resolutions. You can overclock the card as far as you want you can't extend memory...
It is hot even when the cooler is rotating at higher speed. It heats up the nearby hardware, so extra cooling is needed. The Accelero Xtreme 4870X2 cooler exists for some reasons.
As I said, it cooler and quieter even when OC-ed. The NB temperature on my P5Q-E was lower with the GTX 295 at idle or at load.295GTX is quieter than 4870X2 but as hot in charge.
What a discovery...That applies to all graphics cards.Framebuffer limit the card is certains games and resolutions. You can overclock the card as far as you want you can't extend memory...
you think i could use this on my 4850X2?

Unfortunately i don't think so. 4850X2 design is specific.
I hope i'm wrong![]()
Im buying one the second it comes out.. org fan @ 31% fanspeed = cant hear it over case fans.. 41% hear a little, still hot.. 51% is a small Jet plane.. and well over that its just a joke
Btw.. anyone know a good OC program for HD4870x2? ATI CCC has a limit on Core on 800 and RivaTuner only OC's 1 core?
could get this http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...r_hr03gtx.html
