(So much for the bravado speech.) i5 is not scrapped. Its just an 45nm product only. At 32nm you have to go either down to 2 cores or up to 6. They just remove one CPU type completely. One mask, production line etc less. i5 dies with 45nm. Only i7 and i3 goes to 32nm.
