    Got my C1 Q9550@3,6Ghz 1.250V (59C-64C) without problems.
I am prime-stable at 3,8GHz with 1.31V but the CPU runs too hot for my taste at that speed (71C-75C) so maybe my Zalman CNPS 9700Led needs an upgrade.
I would like to know from someone with the same CPU and cooler what clock/temp they were able to get from their chips.

    Good Luck & Have Fun
I've got a similar setup as you - C1 Q9550 @ 3.91GHz/1.3075 vCore. With the TRUE 120 and a single fan, I run idle at 34ish per core and at full load after 3 hours of Small FFTs, I don't go over 65.

Damn, I can't believe that the TRUE 120 could be that much much better
When I was deciding I red some review where CNPS9700 was like 3C higher than TRUE120 so I basically decided for the looks (it's kickass ) and bought that Zalman.

Check to make sure the Zalman is sealed well too - I tinkered with the TRUE a few times before realizing the washer mod was required. I've also lapped the TRUE (but not the processor) and that helped flatten things out and help make it more secure, although I can't say it did too much for temps that I was able to notice.

hmm, ...I think the Zalman is properly mounted, but what exactly is washer mod?
and no, I don't plan lapp anything, (actually the Zalman had shiny surface so I think it's a waste of time to lap it again.

Second rig won't hit 442 PLEASE HELP!!

    Hello All,

First of all let me say hi to everyone, I'm new to this forum.

Secondly, just so you know, I have read 99% of the 200+ pages of this thread. But still having issues.

My problem is I can get past 422 x 9.5 on this P5Q Deluxe rig I just built on the weekend.

Ok a little background: I have another rig with a P5Q Deluxe and the same E8500 E0 CPU. That rig will run 442 x 9.5 with 1.4 volts on CPU and most all other settings on auto except for the usual stuff that you normally would disable like Speedstep, Spread Spectrum, etc. That rig is totally stable. I even copied from this stable rig my exact bios settings and plugged them into this second rig, still no go.

But this other rig won't go past 422 x 9.5 no matter what I do. Below are the settings I'm using But I can't remember exactly the OC Twister settings and DRAM Read Training (I think is dsabled), so I left those settings out. I will update my post with those settings tonight when I get home. But I can run at 422 x 9.5 on this rig with everything on Auto except cpu volts which I raise to 1.4 and it is stable.

Also the CPU that is in this problem rig was just in an SLI 680i board and it was running 442 day and night totally stable, so I know it's capable of these speeds. I just changed out the board because I wanted to run a 4870 X2.

Here is a side note: I can get to 442 with this troubled rig by setting the DRAM Frequency to 1066, but it's not stable.

By the way, the settings below will not boot to Windows.

    Hardware in both rigs:

    C2D E8500 E0
    Zalman 9500
    P5Q Deluxe 1406 Bios
    2 x 1GB Corsair Dominator 8500
PC Power and Cooling 750/Thermaltake 750
    HD 4870 X2/GTX 280

So as you see both rigs are identical except PSU and Video cards.

    Bios settings :

    AI Overclock tuner: MANUAL
    CPU Ratio Setting: 9.5
    FSB Frequency: 442
    PCI-E Frequency: 100
FSB Strap to North Bridge: AUTO (have tried 400 and 333)
    DRAM Frequency: 885
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A2: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B2: AUTO
    DRAM Timing Control: AUTO

    1st Information: 5-5-5-18-3-52-6-3
    2nd Information: 8-3-5-4-6-4-6
    3rd Information: 14-5-1-6-6

CPU Voltage: 1.41 (I have tried all the way up from 1.27)
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): AUTO
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): AUTO
    CPU PLL Voltage: AUTO
    FSB Termination Voltage: AUTO
DRAM Voltage: 2.1 (but have tried all the way up from 1.8 in .2 increments)
    NB Voltage: AUTO
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: AUTO
    PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO

    Load Line Calibration: Disabled
    CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum: AUTO
    CPU Clock Skew : AUTO
    NB Clock Skew : AUTO
    CPU Margin Enhancement: OPTIMIZED

Please can anyone give me a template of settings to try or any advice to get this rig to 442 x 9.5? I am pulling my hair out guys because I should totally be able to do this. Like I said my other rig runs this speed and is totally stable (hours of Prime95, Orthos, games, etc), but I just cant get this CPU/Board past 422 x 9.5. So if anyone can PLEASE, please give me some help/advice I would be forever greatful.

    Thanks guys,

    Marc

This is hindering ya OC mate,

CPU PLL Voltage: AUTO --> set 1.56
FSB Termination Voltage: --> set 1.26
DRAM Voltage: 2.1 (but have tried all the way up from 1.8 in .2 increments)
NB Voltage: AUTO --> set 1.26
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: AUTO
    PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO

Too much voltage isn't always better... and AUTO overvolts BIG TIME !!

And why don't you run 445 with 1066Mhz on the ram (more bandwith , lower PL etc...)
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thanks so much, I will try those settings tonight.

As far as 445 with 1066, I might try that but I thought it was always best to run at 1:1? But actually as I said in my original post, 442 with 1066 would boot into XP but was totally unstable. So maybe you've got something there that I should try.

Oh I forgot to mention from my original post: I have listed in my bios settings the DRAM voltage as 2.1. But, in the other stable rig it's on AUTO if you can beleive that, but it's true. I set 2.1 as the last thing I tried when experimenting on the weekend. But actually when I tried to run at 442 with 1066, I started increasing DRAM voltage and the more voltage I gave it, the faster it failed Prime95, until finally at 2.1 it wouldn't boot.

Thanks for the voltage values you listed, but do you have a suggestion for the DRAM given what I just said above?

    Thanks for your help,

    Marc

However, I am having issues whereby i get a total reboot during boot. Its like the hard drive just cuts off and then the machine reboots with no BSOD. No change of settings has been able to resolve this random but frequent reboot during boot issue (except when not overclocked)

Anyway, I have realised that by having another hard drive connected via the external eSata plate, then the issue goes away. The hard drive is just an internal Maxtor 6V080E0 80gb connected via the external plate and is lying on the floor.

Now im wondering if this is a hard drive issue, or whether it is an 'earthing' issue?? I have three Samsung F1 drives, maybe these could be the problem and I need to have a Maxtor hard drive plugged in as well for the system to boot OK? Or I was thinking that maybe by having the Maxtor on the floor outside my case, it is providing an 'earth' to the PC, and I have earthing problems inside my case? What do you guys think? Can anyone shed a bit of light on this?

Is anyone running this board with only Samsung F1 drives?
Has nobody else got any feedback on this problem? Its the most bizzare issue I have ever come across and I am really struggling to think why it could be doing this. I am booting from a 320GB F1. With the Maxtor plugged in my PC boots every time even though its booting from the F1. I fail to see why having the Maxtor plugs in resolves my boot issue. It is so weird!!!

Hi, I have P5Q Deluxe withe 4x Spinpoint F1 1TB and I have no issues with it, I run them in RAID-10 configuration.
Looks like it could be blown capacitor, faulty PSU, or something wrong with your electric plug(not grounded?...)

I really think there are some files on the E-Sata, I would reinstall the OS without the E-sata drive connected...

Thanks. I have SMART checked and error checked all my F1 drives and they are all fine. My two 1TB drive do have different firmware on them though. It is really strange. I am thinking that perhaps the maxtor that I have plugged in externally is creating some king of earth to my PC. Only way to test this though really is to rebuild my system!

There is nothing on the e-sata except for a few DVD images. I only realised that having this plugged in resolves my boot problems the other day when I had it plugged in for the first ever time!

The PC doesnt have boot problems when it is not overclocked (or even with a moderate overclock)even without the e-sata plugged in.

Like I say, it is the craziest issue ever! I think it is either an earthing problem or a disk controller issue but I really dont know.

I want moar, getting 3.7Ghz out of my E6750 with 1.448v@ stress :s, to much on vcore imho, on my previous board (Gigabyte EX38-DS5), I did 3.64Ghz with 1.44v and 3.7ghz @1.456v @full stress, so this is like to much for just those 60mhz more ...

Although I'm running a strange kinde of memory combination, 6gb in dualchannel, does anybody know how far the corsair pc6400 sticks go?

I really want to get a very good clock on my cpu for 24/7 use, since it came out of a L722 batch, and from research I learned this is a good batch for E6750's

Atm I think cpu pll and fsb termination voltage is treating me ... thursday/friday I'll try more.

but does anybody know good settings on al those xtra ram overclock options ... ?

    Thank's in advance

Just try 425FSB and up Vcore and PLL voltage to 1.56 or even 1.6... hope it will work

I don't get it, you get the same clocks (3.7Ghz) with less voltage on the P5Q Dlx then the GB and you complain ? or did I misread ya sentence there (leestekens tegoei zetten vent :p )

For the rams it would be nice to see how the rig is setup now by completing the template plz :

I meant diffirent, on the GB lower voltage than the P5Q Deluxe :s, wich is strange, I had the same on the P5K Deluxe ..., will try tonight, now I have to study

    Hello

    I just installed another P5Q Deluxe,this time with a E8500 CPU Q822A671 VID:1.10V
Without screwing around too much with Voltages i was wondering about the result.
I Made also Test 30Loop IBT and 8 Hours Orthos.
If you watch the Voltages settings, my opinion is that they are very good for this clock.

I'm ready to go stresstest 3720Mhz on my E6750@1.46v idle and 1.47v stressed, it looks like I setted the GTL references wrong, setted them to auto and huppa, it's going like hell, got to finetune that later ...

edit: I'll keep it@3704Mhz, fast enough, 1.46 is enough to keep it running, altough I still have to do a long stresstest, prolly for tomorrow ...

and you want to stabilize xxGhz ?

Ok its been awhile since i was last posted but i dont care about cooling issues, i just want to reach 5 Ghz, my comp. should have no problem running at it i just cant find any stable settings for it to run on.
I have intel core 2 duo stock 3.33Ghz its OC to 4.4 Ghz.
ram is DDR3 1600, and my mobo is asus P5Q3 deluxe and it should be able to get higher. So please tell me wat i need to do to get it to 5Ghz.

Not all E8600's do 5Ghz Will on air or water... maybe for short benches but you really will need chilled water or phase to stabilise things for 24/7 use...
Can't you get 500FSB and 1600mhz ram speed stable ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

What would be a good target NB GTL REF Voltage, not the divider but the actual voltage for 4 2gb sticks and lets say a 475fsb. I should be getting my chip soon and was just planning things out. Thanks

    well...

well its stable at 4.4Ghz on a full load, and i no how to overclock to an extent, but there r so many more settings that r there and i pretty sure my mobo and my cpu could get to 5Ghz. My fsb is set to 440, cpu ratio is at 10x, and my cpu voltage is at 1.462v, and anything above that fsb is unstable so i was wondering wat do i need to change the other settings too.
