Hi, i need some advices to reach over 500 FSB, now i`m stable at 500x8 but my intentions are reach 530x8 or the max as i can. But my first attempts were frustrating. With 510x8 i got my CPU stable ran ORTHOS 1h small FTT and no errors. But blend test gave error before 1min, so there is some wrong with my settings about the memory. And please take a look and let me know what can i do.

    why

Why does everybody run there memory 1:1 here ? does the 333, 266 strap work on this board ? maybe tough with a quad, but not with dual core, 1:1 totally stinks, it kills your memory bandwidth.

Not everyone has memory capable of >1000 MHz. Besides, memory bandwidth is not at all important for Core architecture in real life applications.

It's a known issue with these boards. We're still waiting for a fix.

for me its mainly cause i was having trouble running 5:6 but i got it going but noticed that the clocks i was able to achieve with 5:6,my everest scores were not that much higher than when i ran 1:1.and since i have recently bought a second set of g.skill pc-8800's i figured using 8 gigs at these clocks would be just as good(with lower v dimm).so far it performs very well at 510x8.5 w/8gigs.but now ive noticed that im able to run this clock with the 8gigs at the same volts as with 2gigs,so im might just try 2gigs again running 5:6 and see how far i can push this 9650 now that im getting the hang of it.BY THE WAY-i got a brand new maximus II for my replacement from asus(finally).only took four boards from asus+the original that i bought so i guess 5 is the new lucky number 3.ill be selling it if anyone is interested.not looking to make all my money back, just want to wipe my hands of this ordeal,so it will be cheap.pm me if you interested

Its likely MCH ref or even MCH core that is holding you back. Run memtest and loop test #7. If you see tons of errors, raise the MCH core or even raise PL(static tRead) or your mem timings. If you get 1-2 errors in each pass then change the mch reff.

I just got my Q9650, So far I need different MCH ref settings and likely cpu reff settings for sure. I dont have much time tonight but will be looking back through this thread to try some settings.

    ok

Hopefully they will fix this issue with the straps, and yes memory bandwidth does matter in everyday use. Im curious what kind of temps you guys are getting on the northbridge ? does this board run hot on nb ?

I am using that exact template. Ony things different are 490fsb instead of 489 and Memory is 400 2.00D 1:1 for 980mhz for the 8gb. Bandwith is good enough for me. Temps are good under load since i replaced the TRUE with a water loop. F7 bios. This is my 24/7 setup. It gets me 22000 on 3dmark06 and 23000 on Vantage.

Hey I just poped in my Q9650, used Jor3lBR's template and on air I go easily. Clocks just as good if not better than my E8400 E0, just hotter, haven't even let the AS5 settle yet.

1st testing done, booted right up. On to stability now.
    1M Spi

    32M Spi

I'm sure I can lower the voltage or clock higher this is 1st test!!

Edit: it failed after 30min of OCCT, so on to tweaking, lol.

What's the scoop on removing the "Gigabyte" and "Ultra Durable" covers from the MCH and PWM covers?? As I know that my northbridge is running much hotter than ET6 reports. I thought I saw a couple degree's cooler?

I'm sure I can lower the voltage or clock higher this is 1st test!!

What's the scoop on removing the "Gigabyte" and "Ultra Durable" covers from the MCH and PWM covers?? As I know that my northbridge is running much hotter than ET6 reports. I thought I saw a couple degree's cooler?
Nice work. I'm using the same template.

Taking the cover off the NB should help a lot if you have a fan blowing on it. As far as i know, there is no NB Temp sensor on this board. Not sure what your seeing in ET6.

Everest and ET6 both report NB temps, but they are different

Also whats the max safe NB temp?

hi, first post on XS . couldn't find the "welcome to the forum " post so i guess just dive in ?

ive been following these threads for a while , right after i bought a Q9650 that is.

guess what happened next ? I ended up building another pc instead of upgrading the one i already have, lol.

need a little advice on my setup, btw thanks for the bios templates guys !!!

    Q9650 L826A965
    9 x 423 for 3.8 , max temp with IBT 1.9 = 61c
    cpu @ 1.25625v bios / 1.23 cpuz/everest

ive booted to 4.5 but it gets too hot with just prime , as soon as i see it hit 65c i stop it. cooling = TRUE (not lapped) antec 120's on high push/pull , case HAF 932. fix??? 120 x 38 fans on cooler or do you think water would get me there ? im thinking this kit : Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultima

p.s. by there im thinking 24/7

    thanks in advance .

    Finally Stable!

Hey everyone, longgggg time lurker here, I never post! Just wanted to start by saying thanks to Jor3lBR and nugzo, your BIOS settings have helped me alot.

The Q9650 and UD3P truly were made for each other. I'm at 4.25GHz stable, but I'm pretty sure I could run this baby at 4.4 or 4.5 24/7 stable if I had better watercooling. I just have a crappy rad (MCR220). I should've gotten the Thermochill or Faser '3 fan' rad Oh well.

No success running 509+ FSB at a lower multi Best I got at a lower multi was 508x8.5, but I think I like 473x9 better. Let's me run my Dominator's at SIGNIFICANTLY better timings.

I'm Prime95, OCCT, and Orthos Stable...but I fail IBT instantly, IBT gets my CPU wayyyy too hot (75C+). I doubt anything I'll ever run will get my CPU that hot so I'm ok with failing that.

Also, thanks to EVERYONE in this thread because it wasn't just nugzo and Jor3lBR that helped me, it was comments posted by many different people in this thread and in nugzo's other UD3 thread.

Good luck to everyone and I hope you can acheive a good stable clock like I have, it's a good feeling!

Better to leave it disabled if you can.

I've answered that one. As for the temperatures, many new Core 2 CPUs have stuck sensors up until certain temp. You can use Tcase temp instead (HWMonitor, OCCT, Everest...).
