What RAM is that you are using? My G.Skill rated 1066 so I am guessing you are using higher speed RAM?
Do you think your E6600 would do 450fsb with x8 multi?
The board is not so keen to OC the E6600 chips as it is 45nm duals you think?

Contacted newegg and getting a refund on this newer rev 1.1 board. i am going to try and figure out the issue with the ram on the rev 1.0, as I am stuck with that one.

Youīre right, Iīm using 2x1 Kingston HyperX PC9600 (1200MHz) right now but the strange thing is that I can do 450 ram 1200 but not 400 ram 1066,1200 or 450 ram 1080, donīt know whatīs.

I have problem running 450 8 3600, I donīt know whatīs yet, I have done it in the past with my Striker Extreme.

I have it stable with 500 3500 ram 1000 555 15 tRD10 right now, working to get those volt down a bit.

I think itīs okey to run 65nm on this board, I have tried my Q6600 and now this E6600 and both run okey, you need to change your CPU ref from 0,760v to 0,800v, then it works a little better.

E6600 is old now so I can recommend to get a E8400, E8500 or even E8600 if you have some money, they are all amazing CPUs.

I took out the cmos battery and shorted the CMOS over night. Tried 2 sticks again and no post. pull one out, it boots right up. I am seriously pissed!!! I have spent $230 on two identical boards, one rev1.0 and one rev 1.1. Both boards have the same exact issue!!!!
Okey, well they are almost the same, no big different.

Good luck with that, I probably gonna RMA mine, thinking of getting me a P5Q-E and try Ket modded BIOS and see what it can do compare to UD3P.

CPU and MCH Ref = Stability or No Stability

Well done RADAJA you did good and played VERY well with the CPU Ref and MCH Ref. None of that stability will last without those 2 key figures in the play. And thanks for posting stable template for folks here!

I've been saying this for some time now, the key for stability and even booting ram on this board is MCH and CPU Ref. and those can be different from board to board. My Rev 1.0 board template will not work on the Rev 1.1 because of different CPU Ref setting.

So people that are getting Prime95 blend fails or Memtest #7 errors once again this is your tip: CPU Ref and MCh Ref.

Jor3IBR,thank, yep when i first started with the quad i was still thinking like i was using my dual core in terms of mch ref and cpu ref.but i kept messing with it and i think i found what my 9650 likes.heres my latest, voltages are all the same as my last template.i think i might go to city hall tomorrow and see what it will take to get a marriage liscense for my Q9650 and UD3P,cause i think they are in love.any one can see that they are meant to be together.

Yes Radaja they are a perfect match.

I believe I had my running for quite some time with those same settings your using up to 518Mhz x 8.5 multi (4403Mhz). Vcore on CPUZ was between 1.37-1.39.

This multi is very forgiven and it gives great temps for the cpu, unlike the 9 multi that starts to toast a bit :-)

    tried to warn u

Tried to warn people BOB, the ddr3 version of this board is not a good board, trust me your better off with the ddr2 version, RMA IT as fast as you can.

I have to get me one of those 9650 quads, those things rock, anybody want a e8500. Who has the best prices on the 9650 quad ?

    at those volts

Lower the PLL to 1.57 or lower and VTT to 1.3v or lower

I have the same with all the official BIOS (F4, F5, F6, F7).

Well I have to see what to do, anyway thank you again for all your help.
    your welcome.

i rechecked for you again on the 400fsb 400 strap 3:4 ddr1066, and 450fsb 333 strap 5:6 ddr1080 since i normally don't run my system with these 2 cpu fsb and ram speeds.

i don't seem to have problem at all with my 333 and 400 straps, my system will boot and also run fine with the straps at anytime i wanted it to, as far as i can remember.

i'm just curious as to why you are having problems running these, the only thing i can think of right now is, maybe you are using one of 1066 MHz processors on this board, and mine is always using a 1333 MHz processor. of course it may not be this as the reason, and it's still mystery to me.
anyway, have you tried checking with gigabyte tech support about this?

looks like you're really having a good time with your new q9650. i think this cpu appears to have some fsb overclocking headroom.
anyway, have you ever tried to get to maybe 533fsb on a low cpu multi yet? also, i still wondering, so how much vdimm voltage you need to use on the team kit to stable at your 500x8.5 and ram running at ddr1200 (5:6), and how much NB voltage did the system take to handle the overclocking?

as of now, i don't think i will have a chance to buy and try out a q9650. it will be easier for me to decide on buying a new socket 775 quad processor if i don't already have a single one with me.

Get the DDR2 version Bob, I loath my DDR3 version too. Tonite will test it with the Corsairs low voltage DDR3 1600C8 dimms. If it has stabilty issues with them too I'll RMA mine ...

At the moment I have to run my Mushkin rams at 1333mhz speed max... this board has way too many issues... and bios development is far too slow...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

panginggIII, whaen i tried the 500fsb with ram at 5:6 i dont know exactly what the lowest possible vdimm for the teams was i just set it at 2.28,my board undervolts so it was showing 2.24 in ET6,as for the mch i think it was at 1.46.

mch core at 1.46 is just perfect for your system i think.
as far as i can see your system seems to have a pretty good cooling solution, and this could be the more copper pcb board gets pretty decent cold air with your air con tube thing into the computer case.
i don't know, if i am you, i would try the 500fsb with the gskill 8800 2x2, i like to use at least 4GB ram with vista x64 based os,
and when the gskill 9600 pi price drop grab one of the ram kit and you should be all set.

yep, thats what i was thinking on both of those things, tonight ill try the pc8800's and i also want a set of those 9600's,to expensive right now.so you think at 1.46mch it shouldnt be a problem?

Yep I think I will pull the trigger and get one, I was waiting to see if they would come down just a touch more, but i want to get a current batch as i know they are OC'ing well and future batch's may not be as good. Think today is the day, lol.

They seem to do similar clocks to the E8400's at the same voltages which is awesome and this board loves them!!

    Jor3lBr,
can you tell me approximately where the recommendations for the CPU Ref and MCH Ref settings are in this thread? as well as any other appropriate Bios settings are? I will only be going after a mild overclock somewhere around 400fsb, btw.

For an E8400, CPU ref can prob be left at stock .760(in ET6) note that changing VTT will change this but ET6 doesn't account for it.

You can likely do around 3.8Ghz with stock setting, may need more MCH core, mine needs 1.24MCH for 3.8Ghz on stock volts with 2x2GB ram.

After you get higher you need to lower MCH ref, .70v is a good starting point, which is according to ET6. So to set this you leave VTT on 1.2v and lower MCH ref to .70, then raise VTT up to where you want.

As you raise clocks higher than 4.3Ghz and higher FSB you prob have to raise MCH core(up to max of ~1.36v) and lower MCH ref(to as low as ~.65v)
If you want to look at others settings in this thread read starting from ~page 20 in this thread for settings
