Yep, it's not available on Asus's website, and can't attach it here, so someone's gotta host it. I'm off to bed, nearly midnight in Melbourne, but I will check back tomorrow.

    See you guys later.

    Thanks guys,

I hosted it on my server as well: Bios 0501

Also added it to 1st post.

Please report back with any changes/improvements you find so I can add them to the 1st post, unfortunately I do not have the time to do it in the next few days.
Only things I care about are the fix of that annoying bios reset bug when manual Vcore is set and maybe a VTT bios option. Oh yeah, and a fix of the 1,4V MCH issue would also be nice.

    Thanx for hosting guys

What I've noticed is that the calibration of my CPU temps are much better - the supposedly "stuck" temp sensors are now working - not spot-on, but only about a few deg C difference to the others.

Bios also much more stable once making changes inside the Bios itself, Hardware monitor most notably faster to open, and not crashing system/Bios at all.

    Overall, better.

Currently awaiting my SM board, but will play with this the next few days.

    Smile Hi, JCOOL

Hi, Jcool I've send an e-mail to your shop...a question,
    I'm the italian boy..from Florence.
Where you found your Fb-Dimm heatskin?? you made itself from ddrII memory heatskin?
    my system is this: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=g7ZbdMSNtjc
My system is with 667 memory ..I want to change and go to 3.5-3.6Mhz
Don't worry about the temps in my video.. it was in summertime and in florence we have about 35-38C of temp.
Apacer Fb-dimm go at 1.5v ..you think is good for overclocking?
I see the fantastic Fb-dimm waterblock from some guys ..here in this forum... you think is good or not necessary? ..probably the memory don't go over 450mhz and so ...a waterblock ..probably is not necessary...or not?
Thnx for all guys that write in this thread!!
We love this Z7s! I try now 0501!!

Oh hi, I just replied to your email earlier this evening. Just wasn't clear on whether you had 667 or 800mhz mems. You can ask angelshonny and others who have bought FBdimms from me, nobody complained about their ram holding them back any more

The ramcoolers I use are by EKL Germany and yes, they are intended for standard DDR2. However you can mount them on FBDimms as well using the supplied heatpads and a certain technique

    I certainly don't love the Z7S anymore.
Maybe I'll sell my board when I get mine back from RMA.

@ Megadethlore: You can change the multiplier on the Xeons, but down only, i.e. on my E5430's, which is normally 8, I can go down 7.5, 7, 6.5 and 6.

    Which is good

But yes, you're probably referring to the multiplier being capable of changing upwards on the normal Xeons, - this would be failry impossible, as Intel disables this feature internally in the chip, via hardware-fuses they burn.

Think back in the old days with the Athlon XP's, where they had "bridges" exposed to the top of the cpu casing - you could easily mod those "binary" fuses to give different clock multipliers - Intel's is fairly similar, but internal, and therefore, unaccessable.

I very much doubt you could change it via any hardware pins though, VID yes, but most likely not FID.....

Yeah Mr.bean, tnx... infact my previous pc was a Dual Barton 2500+ @ 4000+ with multiplier mod at 17.......it's true... and a motherboard modding for changing voltage from 1.65 to ..2.0 volt... so hot...

I think that my xeons 5430 ES are 65nm model... but cpuz say that are a 45nm...any idea?

All 54xx cpu's are 45nm. CpuZ is correct.
    (the 'Clovertown' 53xx cpu's were 65nm)

MrBean, can you toss an email to Lyn about those of us who want to return our boards for credit? I think they've heard about enough of me and are ignoring me or something..

Hey Stevil, I have linked them to this thread, and requested them to action our issues.

I only had the one reply from him, so awaiting the next one, probably a few days before I'll get it. I did mention that I want to refund for the same reasons, let's see what they come back with.

Also good to lodge an official tech support case as I have done.....this will get their attention!

    Hello Guys,
Some feedback from Lyn Quan wrt VTT adjustments, and Bios 0501 - make of it what you will.....

Z7S WS was based on intel 5400 chipset and designed for stable workstation usage. There is some hardware limitation about overclocking.
The motherboard itself does not contain VTT change circuit. So, there is not such a option in BIOS.
The 0501BIOS file is not released officially. It is just a beta BIOS file now.
