Well, my first runs on 0701

    250HT 2250NB, just over 17

    I tried a lil diff approach, 245HT and 2940NB, I just can't break 17's

    Ok try this for timing...

In Manual timing Mode @ the same Freqency your Ram is at Now,, Adjust Timing Use DTC0 mode only and change as follows.

Using the 800/667/533 or 400 ram divider you can run cas 4 pretty easy in Unganged Mode. Gives me best performance with 2700+ nb on my little B3

    CAS ,, 4
    TCwl ,, 5
    Trcd ,, 4
    TRP ,, 4

Leave eveything else on Auto even TRC...and yes you must use 4-5-4-4 for it to work , dont set 4-4-4-4 timing.

This will set 4-4-4-15 on any ram up to 1100mhz ..

The little lower Latency may help ya bust 17's,,

    Hope it works for ya.

P.S. works on 0602 and 0701 Bios 800 or lower ram divider.

Tried now, no luck.. Just so you know exactly how I mean, I compiled a very professional movie.

Filmed with my cellphone, quality is utterly crap. It's in 3gp-format, should be playable with Quicktime or in VLC.

OK, so I beat 17s finally, but not with mem timings LOL, I tried what you suggested and My ram sucks Poo. Here is my recent attempts. I first was going for 4.2ghz and it would lock up. So I set everything on auto other then the CPU multi. And still 4.2ghz would not boot. So, I tried less voltage. And 4.2ghz went right into windows. I will try higher NB later, wife wants to kick my arse at some Mario Kart Wii.

    my best Pi 1M

4.2ghz was validated and Pi 1M

Nice work... Tweaking Phenom is always time consuming and a challenge for that nice Oc.

I get my highest clocks by changing one setting at a time...

What htt voltage are yall on? My 940 wont do 250htt * 15 (3750mhz) at 1.30v but it will do 200*19 (3800) just fine on vcore bump alone..

    Hahhaaa thats priceless..

So indeed its the Phenom IICPU that exclusively allows use of Higher HT/NB 5200+ despite the HTT of Mobo.

    if my eyes are seeing correct your @ HT2900+ which = 5800+ ht's .

Can you try and run something like 3DMark06 to see if a ht link that high makes any difference?

actually I was testing with superpi and at 3.9ghz....and increasing ht/nb after a certain point I was actually losing performance.

I was doing that and had some strange results, in both ht nb set the same, results in 3dm06

    2ghz ht/nb cpu score 5298

2.2ghz....................5373 running only the cpu bench, but when I ran the whole test 5502

2.4ghz................... 5469 only cpu test.........about the same running full benchmark

2.6ghz and 2.8ghz.......I saw absolutly no increase in performance .....cpu score was in the 54xx range.

Never did I hit cpu score of 55xx at any other setting than that 2.2ghz run

but lets think about this now.........ddr 2 may not be able to take advantage of the ht/nb speeds above 2400/2600mhz

this scenario reminds me exactly of what happens in 3dm06 when you have a major bottlneck if the cpu is too weak no matter how much you overclock the graphics card your score wont go up.

could this happen between the NB and memory speed?? will ddr3 let ht/nb performance increase. Or am I totally wrong and the problem was the cpu speed not utilizing the ht/nb speeds??

Or could I have just fudged up the whole test

    lots of questions

thats awsome the only thing is (im trying to understand why?) that you having higher ht link by (320mhz) and nb (110mhz) tighter timings and higher bus speed doesnt equate to faster.........nm I think its the memory speed.

It seems that with fast DDR3 (>1333) NB speed is bottlenecking memory performance. ~2800MHz NB is needed to see proper scaling of performance with memory speed.

so then can the opposite be said here?? I have upwards results of 2900+ nb but since my memory is only 1066/ddr2 I only see increase up to 2200-2400, then 2600-2980 is basically useless for me because of the memory bottleneck??

Is there much of an improvement using Bios 0701 compared to 0601 with clocking PH II?

Perhaps, I never really tested DDR2 scaling with NB freq. Try different RAM speeds + different NB freq at Sandra 2009 memory benchmark or Everest Memeory test.

I was just trying to see if I could have 3000HT and 3000NB at near 4ghz cpu My ram being low was a big factor, when I have it higher, I do also get better scores. I think If I could get the best of both worlds I would see good results. I might see if I can.

yes do that, see what your scores end up being with balanced settings......wonder if you could break prime bench at 9.0 seconds?to bad I didnt run it when I was testing at 4.26ghz

Hmmm.. I wonder if you Raise the HTT and lower Ram to run on 800divider instead of 1066..

Ive noticed better performance gains with Ganged and 1066mhz speeds using 800divider vs 1066divider. Even My Unganged timing did better this same way(Using 800ram divider instead of 1066 for 1066mhz+)

I has to do with how ASUS coded the Bios for 1066 vs 800.,,

No matter what brand ram i use ,,
THEY ALL DID faster times with 5-5-5-15 on 800divider @ 1066mhz
    ( Instead of using) 1066divder @ 1066mhz. 5-7-7-20 default for 1066 on this mobo.

So with that in mind ,,You could go for the gusto and try higher HTT with HT3000/NB3000 @ 4gig ,,just use different ram divider if all possiable to obtain 1066mhz ram. Matter of fact even if its lower than 1066mhz it may even allow you to run 4-4-4-15 timing ,,Who knows.

Phenom is definatly fun to tweak ,, different every day

Note: Maybe start @ 260htt and what ever it takes for 3000ht/NB while using the 800ram divider = 1040mhz right @ 260htt..I so wish i had i 940 right now lol....
