    4x2GB and monitor resolution

I currently have my monitor set at 2560 x 1600 resolution. I set the bios to it's defaults and I installed another set of memory for a total 4x2GB. I booted into windows and the monitor resolution reset to the default; 800 x 600. Under 'Display Settings' the maximum resolution I could now set was 1920 x 1440. I have dual monitors, but the problem occurs with just one monitor also.
    Does anyone have a solution/reason....Thanks

    Transpiper?

Hi, I just recently purchased the UT and have been looking through this thread and it seems to be a mixed bag of results regarding the transpiper, copper plate, and location to mount it (if mounted at all). Anandtech seems to suggest that it has a negative effect on cooling the CPU and suggest that it be mounted on the southbridge if one chooses to mount it. But it seems that there are a few out there that have had success with it. Is there a concensus to what is the better method?

    Please let me know,
    Thanks

(btw, this will be in an Antec 900 so the PSU is actually at the bottom of the case)

you dont need that copper plate it will tranfer heat to the pwm
and a fan will cool the pwm alot better then the trandspiper
i removed all the original heatsinks n heapipes but lost warranty
you might wanna put the transpiper on the sb m put a fan on the pwm heatsink as you have a quad

I installed a hardware RAID card and (I think) updated to the newest BIOS at the same time. Since then if I try to use 2 dimms windows doesn't load the graphics driver. I haven't experimented with it too much but I did quickly try bumping up the NB and RAM volts to no avail.

What BIOS are you using? Any RAID card?

Yes I did. I installed ATI CAT 8.1 (driver only) from about a year ago, based on crusing the web and low and behold it works with 8GB and 2560 x 1600 resolution! I had tried several drivers ...8.6, 8.9, 8.11, and 8.12 with no luck, so I wonder what changed in subsequent updates?
I deleted the driver and rebooted in Safemode and used 'Drive Cleaner' to remove anything left over (about ten files).

I have not tried to install CCC 8.1. I stopped here after it worked. I was tired of messing around. May be CAT 8.12 (driver only) would work after using 'Drive Cleaner' in Safe Mode.

In my case I think that I have to give up and keep a 3.6 GHz @ 1.4000V for the daily use...

    System:

    Intel C2D E8200
    DFI UT P35 T2R
    G-Skill PI PC2-8000 1000mhz 5-5-5-15
    GTX 260
    Mushkin EP-500ap
    2 Samsung sata HDDs
    Sata S-223hf dvd
    Xigmatek HDT-1283s

Problem is I can't get my system stable @ 8x500 mem is at 1:1 and at their specsed settings. Memtest gives errors. when I set everything default it seems to run fine. Vcore 1.34, Vmem 2.1v, Vnb 1.57v VTT 1.310v VTT default and I dont now what to do. Please help I'm using the latest bios. Should I downgrade it? I think the older one worked better. My board has killed one Crucial BallistiX set and I got one A-Data 800mhz cl4 kit and it DOA. Then I bought this G-Skill set and at the beginning it worked out good. Thanks for replies.

E: Did more research and found out that 1:1 divider is making me crazy, at 2:3 divider @ same settings no errors in memtest. Any Ideas? Should I change bios?

E2: What do you think is the best bios for this model, at the moment I have latest.

I'm having trouble setting up three cards on my p35. It won't register the 3rd card. I ran it with gfx cards in the first and third pic-e slot and first and second slot no issues. No matter what slot third card goes in no dice. BTW I'm running xp32.

i dont know about ur mobo, but if it does really support 3 cards u could try..

putting all the gpu's into the mobo, re-moving all power from chipset etc by clicking the power button a few times with the psu off.

then remove psu power cable, move cmos pin over to clear & take the battary out the mobo for 5mins.

after that put the batt back in & move the jumper pin back over.

if that dont work try leaving the battary out longer.

obvously its not gonna do nothing if the mobo just dont support 3 cards

E: Tried again, no luck, BSODS etc. Memtest errors. Can't understand what makes my system so unstable. Tested memory yesterday when everything was default, and memory at its rated 5-5-5-15 2.1v 1000mhz. It ran 280% MemTest WITHOUT ERRORS. All temps are good. PSU gives good looking voltages and is quite new. Should I change my bios to older one? I remember the older was better, was it 5/21 or something like that? BTW whats the best bios for 45nm C2D overclocking?

E2: OK, bios downgraded to 521, lets see what happens this time...

Have a look at the link next to the UT-P35 in my sig. It will give you a good idea of the sort of settings you need at 500 FSB. Have a look at Memset as well to see what the Auto setting is for tRFC. More often than not the auto setting is too relaxed, and can cause Bsod's and memory errors.

Memset is telling you that the Auto setting for tRFC is 52, which sounds about right for a 2x2g set of ram. Only sometimes it may set it to 62, which is a bit too relaxed for a 2x2g set.

You don't need to do anything, your only using Memset to see what the auto settings are.

You don't need to do anything, your only using Memset to see what the auto settings are.
Ok, I set TRFC to 45 and had 3 errors in 30min memtest run. Last time when it ran couple % it had way more errors. What does this mean? You seem to know alot of this mobo, can u give any more advice of what to do? In Dram Timing sub menu all else is auto except timings which are 5-5-5-15 and TRFC 45. Thanks

Edit: What does this TRFC affect, id like to know so could understand more than just values Lowest possible tRFC Im able to boot is 43. Now its set to that and enchance settings to fast and data transmitting to more aggressive. Ill test again.

Have a look at Memset as well to see what the Auto setting is for tRFC. More often than not the auto setting is too relaxed, and can cause Bsod's and memory errors, can you explain what I need to do here, never used memset before. Thanks. Heres a photo of my memset:
dont set trfc lower than 48
and set performance lever to 8 set pulls to eaeee eaaee set memory to more aggressive
