I hope asus does fix it. I have GB extreme, but was thinking of getting a P6 for wife, but not if OCing is hampered by TDP or temps.
On GB, there is no TDP limit, no temp or current limit (other than thermal throttling) all are completely disabled. You can run everest to read watts and amps from cpu, and read temps and see.
GB EX i940 at stock, linpack load is around 100W cpu, idle around 6-8W.
at 4.2 overclock with 1.38v load linpack load is around 155W amps around 100. (using F3 bios on GB Ex which did have TDP limit before being disabled in future bioses, you can watch turbo disengage as everest reads about 110 to 120W)
And at 4.4 overclock with 1.55Vcore linpack + coredamage running simultaneously load is over 200W and high amps and temps 100C (I disabled thermal monitor so logs but not throttle) and GB extreme is still in turbo 23 multi and all cores active at turbo mode...see pic. (and yes my cpu is still fine).
If P6 gets TDP disabled, I will buy that for wife, if not guess another x58 with buggy bios still.
