.., hello again.., just wanted to show a 06 and Vantage.., raw power from this 920 at fairly low clock and low v-core... SS cooling...
Vista .., or/and in this case Windows 7 Beta is a known 06 cpu killer and XP brings cpu score to 7900 with similar settings...

Note different timings in benchmarks.., rams are Corsair 1866 9-9-9-24 fairly midrange rams nowadays.. :-) Cpu test in Vantage is a real killer.., = lower clock...

Yeah, of course. In the factory they put whatever is the latest BIOS available at the moment of manufacture.

If you look @these settings they are very straight forward.., no mumbo jumbo...
If I raise v-core.., results starts to be all over the place.

Patients is needed here to find sweetspot.. there is no easy way around it...

    Rig is..
    Zalman 1000W
    Rampage II 0805
    920 retail
    Corsair 1866 9-9-9-24 1.65
Twin HD4870X2 Powercolor out of box
    Crappy idè 40gb disc
    SS Single stage -40 celcius

This is with SS.., its all bout finding sweetspot for your cooling...

Running Wprime 1024 and RealTemp next to it gives u an idea of the massive heat produced.., from +40 to +95 goes in a split second.., throttling will follow...
And.., mounting cooler is very important.., lil missfit between cpu and cooler equals bad OC...
I tested a lot on air.., bringing supercool swedish winter air to Thermaltake Big Typhoon with twin Delta 120.., air coming from outside via metaltubes.., .., (yea.., I´m a geek.., "wifemeltdown" is close..) maybe I will force a 06 run with 200 bclk at 1.44 v-core...

    Heat finally overcomes cooling...

When I read bout peoples water cooling and air cooling.., trying to force 200bclk/1.5v-core runs.., will not happen... (not with good/stable results)

This lil chip is rated 2.66ghz.., not 4.0.., OC we have here is massive +50%.., if wish is for more.., bring the 940 or 965.., but they produce same amount of heat..

Many people are dissapointed with there 940/965.., dont be.., cool them and they will fly...

Dont forgett to set Power settings in Windows to Performance (Vista).., or multiplier will fly around..

Have you read the article since the video update was posted? Sure looking good to me. It will be a gold award winner by [H]ard once ASUS makes two small BIOS changes. One of the changes is already in beta and fixed Kyle's 3-way SLI issue. Edit: definitely want to watch the video update.

    Thumbs up

@ fubarswe - Thanks a lot for sharing , more or less my same settings i used for 4.6-4.7Ghz except more volts in cpu and pll are needed. You are very right about cooling this chips bro , cooling its what makes them fly or die . So far im pleased with the performance of the Board and my chip , im going a lot colder and i will let you guys know how the board and chip handles subsero ok. good day m8 fubarswe

You know that it wont make a difference right?

CPU is still the limiting factor in 3 way sli systems...Thats why i7 was such a great upgrade for multi gpu systems, gains were huge going from C2D to i7.

Yeah, I went up 7000 points in my quad sli setup just from switching to I7 from an overclocked q6600!

Im gonna stab someone soon seriosly..

I am running 190 bclk 100% stable with HT & Turbo (4.0GHz), but i really want to reach 200 bclk so i can run the memory in 1600 MHz.. atm its only 1520MHz 1.65v 9-9-9-24-1T

193 bclk works.. but 194 and up is 100% impossible, I've tried several configs in this thread and none of em is working

    Am i doing it right?

    Changes atm:
    HT & Turbo on
    190 bclk
    1520 memory
    3100 uncore
    vcore 1.375
    vdimm 1.65
    9-9-9-24-1T

The settings im suppose to have is?
    Ht off / turbo On?
    200bclk (4.2GHz)
    1600 memory
    3200 uncore
    vcore ~1.35-1.40?
    vdimm 1.65
    8-8-8-20-1T? / 9-9-9-24-1T

i see some people change the QPI and some dont but i dunno..

Kensek do you have 2 4870x2? In quad crossfire?

Your volts are way to low.

When I had a 920 and a Gig EX58 Extreme it needed 1.45v on the CPU (Vdroop lowered it to 1.408) and QPI of 1.40v.
Then it was Prime stable at 21x200.

You wont reach 200bclk with that v-core.., put it on 1.45 with HT on.., might not be stable so maybe lil increase is needed.., that on other hand might be unstable depending on cooling...

@kensek and dejanh.., congrats to job well done.. :-)
@chispy Thx man.., hope to c some serious orb damage with 965 sub zero.. :-) GL !

It wont boot whatever i do.. 193 bclk is the most i can have.. 194 and nothing works.. all voltages from 1.4 to 1.5

I have the 6GB kit of Corsair Dominator CL8, I've heard people having trouble with it.. some cold bug? Can someone explain what its about? Also my Bios is 0804 if youre wondering

I suggest flashing to 0805.., then try to enter windows on 195 bclk 1.45 v-core.., then step the rest with set fsb.. http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/ clockgenerator xxxxxxx16jglf

    Enable LoadLine Cal
Set the IOH Core V to 1.30v
Set the Dram v to 1.65v
Set the CPU v to 1.475v
Set the QPI/Dram Vtt to 1.415v

If this does not work take out 1 stick of Ram.

If no joy, Flash to 0805 and try these steps again.

This is bullsh1t changed to 0805 without Kensek's advice.. same as with 0804

Then when trying what Kensek said.. (194bclk) after 10 sec of saying Locked.. it came up DET DRAM, but stopped there.. then the next attempt.. yes it got to USB final.. but then it somehow loaded VGA bios but it didnt so no picture, then when i tried to change back to 193.. well now that didnt work either, tried lower cpu volt and different memory numbers but nothing.. back at crappy 190

Is something broken on this pile of crap motherboard or what? Why is it impossible to boot with 194 bclk.. I did not try to remove 1 memory tho, gonna try it now

First.., we come from same country.., keep language to decent level.., mobo is not crap.., crap is prolly behind controls...

Second.., try my settings in earlier posts.., but set bclk to 195 insted.., then step up in setfsb.., no problem lower v-core to what ever is needed with Turbo7.., try it dude.. :-)
note.., with stockcooler 200bclk requires lots of cold air.. :-)

Why do you keep saying i should set bclk to 195? I've said like 2 times I cant boot any higher than 193..

    Bclk
    190 = stable
    193 = unstable
    194 = impossible
over 194.. always sais LOCKED on LCD Poster, never got a DET DRAM message

I got a little closer according to the LCD Poster tho, 1 time it booted with 194.. but the CPU was running at 14.13GHz , the other times it showed DET DRAM and CHECK CPU, maybe 10-15sec between them.. but well.. there is some magic über wall between 193-194 for some reason

Tried bios 0804 & 0805, cpu voltages between 1.35 and 1.5, QPI 1.35 to 1.42, IHO 1.3, 1.65v mem, uncore always twice memory, removed 1 memory, HT&Turbo on/off.. it only booted 1 time.. and it said the CPU was running 14.13GHz so.. fail

    Im currently running:

    HT & Turbo: On
    Bclk: 190
    CPU: 3990MHz with 1.312v
    Memory 1527MHz 8-8-8-24-1T 1.65v

    I could run 180 bclk (3.8GHz) and memory at 1800MHz 9-9-9-26 maybe?

Still why wont it boot with anything above 193 bclk.. like all people in this thread have done it

Edit: Tried TurboV now.. changed from 190 to 193.. worked fine.. then.. BAM 194 the ultimate number of doom.. it worked for ~~ 7 seconds, when i moved the mouse it "lagged" frame by frame = something is very wrong with BCLK 194+, could the motherboard be broken somehow? Because I payed alot of money and I expect to get over 193..

Edit2: just got P15800 3DMark Vantage points.. like wtf? Some random dude got his UNclocked Core i7 965 (3.2GHz) and gets CPU: 20492p while im running my Core i7 at 3.8GHz and gets 18180p?
